One of the most memorable piano riffs in recent memory and dude wrote the song in just 15 mins.
Its called "automatic writing". Not uncommon among the great (and even lesser known) songwriters. That's not to diminish Chris, who to me is unfairly treated by musical elitists. The guy is a genius without a doubt. Somehow it became fashionable to malign Coldplay.
This man is too casual with his genius abilities lmao
That song is such a masterpiece. Arguably the most iconic piano riff ever.
No doubt about either of those!
I like how he says “Ok” and goes straight into playing the most killer piano riff there is. Love this song so much
This guy sounds better than the CD i own from them. How is that possible ?
Partly because Stern show has killer audio capabilities.
Howard: that is a powerful little riff there.
Chris: ya but then Johnny put the chords under it.
Howard: ya but that is a powerful little riff there...
Chris: ya but then he put the chords under it.
Howard: that is a powerful little riff there...
Chris: ya but...
(Summary: Chris has always had a tough time taking credit for his genius).
None of the best song writers seem to take full credit for their songs. They seem to believe the songs already existed and they just reveal themselves to the writer.
Such a nostalgic riff
The piano riff in this song is one of my favorites ever.
Dude oozes talent.
I’m not a big Coldplay fan but theyve wrote some brilliant songs over the years
Howard Stern is such a great host. He is always asking the right questions with real curiosity and and he is genuine.
Meet chris T in the Park, many years ago. What a Gentleman 🎈
Your balloon floated away
Do the think Beatles are best....????
Chris:One of the them....🔥🔥🔥
He plays so safe and yet bold enough....
I’m glad that was his response. I like the Beatles too but I do love other bands including The Stones which I feel are the best
@@SuperWhofan1 now watch the debates start Ben 👌
Martin is way underrated! Love this!
Such a beautiful song
Howard has the gift to ask the best questions and get the “normal person” out of every celebrity.
I remember being at a gamestop at the mall and this song and video were playing on the tv. Feels so long ago on a different planet.
Probably the most iconic piano riff ever
Big NO on that comment.
Chris Martin What a great natural talent wow
Is anyone gonna talk about how awesome his piano is?
Damn....live...sounds amazing!!!!
Love Chris Martin and Coldplay!

👇
i remember hearing this song for the first time in some animated animal movie. Took me years to find it afterwards
Brilliant
"Wowww" is everything to me and you
One of the best singers of 00s with beyonce and matt bellamy
People like to shit on Coldplay all the time but that piano opening is most definitely beautiful and iconic.
Wow: thank you
Yes definitely, Stevie 💭. I went to Jamaica in 1973.
👏
Special.
Jesus Christ, he's adorable!
Actually you don't spend 15 minutes, you spend years to be able to wrote a song in 15 minutes.
Chris Martin not knowing the words to No Woman No Cry is keeping the crusaders at bay.
Why this piano sounds so much better
Song starts at 1:49
Its crazy that he can not read music but is amazing at writing it
Missed a great opportunity for "getting our Beetlejuices flowing"
Of course I like Coldplay, I think I have at least five of their big hits. iTunes
Most of their best songs are underrated u need to listen to them
*Adam's melodica noises*
Cuman butuh 15 menit buat ciptain lagu 'clocks'. Bukan main..
;-)
It's like Chris is scared to name his favorite band he doesn't want to leave anyone out...just say your favorite band !! No big deal
First. But who cares. Actually, I do.
It's a song that also appears to be heavily influenced by Letting Go by the Field Mice
0:28 boring? BORING???????
i thought he was gonna play it on guitar :(
Wouldn't be as good and he knew it..
I didn’t know dr strange could play piano
Bob Marley??? I would thought Joe Satriani was his biggest influence ROFL
Who the fuck is joe satriani?
