Taz should now donate that title to Deadlock Pro Wrestling if only because DPW, the FTW title and Taz all share the same color scheme and that is very intentional on DPW’s part.
I prefer this scramble of many people in the world title picture in AEW. Makes the World title feel more desirable. I always find it weird when one person locks in their title shot then suddenly everyone else seems to just forget the world title exists and goes off and does other things. As if you wouldnt be trying to get your name in the hat as the next contender even while the Champion is dealing with someone else. Makes it feel more like the Attitude era where 5 or 6 dudes were constantly up in each others business with the World title in between them all.
Genuinely think they should get rid of the trios championship titles or merge them with the tag team titles. Trios teams should be able to compete for the tag team titles in both tag team matches and 3 man tag matches, If they are facing 2 wrestlers, the trio team chooses 2 of its 3 members to compete in a similar vein to how The New Day used to challenge for tag team gold in wwe. and if a trio team win the title tag titles there should be a third tag team belt given the the 3rd member.
See I felt the opposite of Andrew about the juxtaposition between Swerve and Nana. I think their clashing but coexisting styles really added some depth to both characters -- depth which was arguably the final piece of the puzzle in Swerves rise to "top guy" status.

@@TheBuddha337 I know the reason why they reintroduced the FTW Belt. Brian Cage was the number 1 contender for the AEW World Heavyweight Title, Jon Moxley was the champion but was unavailable to defend the title due to insolation during covid pandemic. SO, Taz awarded the FTW Belt to Cage.
The difference in mic work, presence, and overall charisma between MVP and Prince Nana was crazy. And I'm not saying Nana is bad, it's just the difference between someone that's been in WWE and had professional training for years and someone who wasn't.
I may not be watching a lot of AEW, but I'm learning from everyone about it. The FTW title was just too optional for a title that its importance of winning is far less interesting than the Hardcore Championship. Why compare it to a more superior gimmick title?
Tbf the FTW title couldve literally just not been defended ever again and become an honorary title for Hook to reference his dad and ECW. It feels like the “retirement” was just Tony listening to whining smarks on the internet. AEW still has way too many titles and most of them with way less history and lineage than Taz’s “non sanctioned” belt.
83? That much? I mean TNA had like 3, 4, or 5 titles and WWE with 14 across 3 brands. I know their TNT and TBS Championships, as well as the International and Continental, Tag Team, Trios, what else? The main AEW Championship?
@Zyugo I was using hyperbole, but yes, AEW has too many championship belts, especially since the ROH belts are a regular part of AEW programming as well. Since the FTW championship was retired, 17 men and 4 women currently hold belts over the two brands. WWE Also has too many, with 14 men and 6 women holding belts over 3 brands. Too many belts dilute the meaning of each, and are generally a lazy placeholder for a good storyline. Couple the fact that AEW has more people holding titles on 2 brands than WWE over 3 with the fact that NJPW titles are also featured several times a year, and the water is just too muddy. It gets worse (in WWE as well) in that there's no real ranking of importance for each even on the order of the event cards. Is the Intercontinental Championship a bigger deal than the Continental? What is the meaning and perk of each other than a prop? WWE has done stupid stuff as well such as the 24/7, European, Hardcore, Speed, etc., with Hardcore at the very least denoting a match type, but it still carried almost no prestige. Take all of that with the other silly stuff they do like the Diamond Ring, the Poker Chip, Money in the Bank, King of the Ring, and other minor honors, and it only gets worse. If AEW were to cut the trios, Continental, and Intercontinental belts out and keep the ROH titles separated from main AEW programming, the World, TNT, Women's, TBS, and Tag belts would all carry more weight in importance without so many lateral-feeling opportunities. Switch ROH to take over one of the other shows like Collision or Rampage, and don't cross-feature the belts aside from once or twice a year for special events. It'd make ROH feel more like it has its own identity, kind of like an NXT to AEW's main brand. 21 people with belts over 2 brands that are completely mixed (22 when FTW was there) is just too much.
Given how the FTW Championship led to the Brawl In controversy, and... I honestly can't remember anything significant about the belt otherwise, it was not worth bringing back in the long term. Maybe it helped Ricky Starks for his reign.
There are 8 titles that belong to AEW (not counting the number of belts, just titles so trios titles would count as 1 entry). There are 7 titles in ROH. They could have the AEW titles be split between Dynamite and Collision.
