Y'all getting upset over Bushrod but skipping right ovee Spotswood
I'd take Bushrod over Spotswood any day of the monarchy
For some reason I was expecting some super long family tree and then I remembered the US is less than 300 years old
Impressive really
Probably because the number of presidents is so large, it artificially inflates the perceived length of time.
ajmwolf if presidents stayed in office for their lifetime then there’d be FAR less presidents.
A generation is considered to be around 20 years, so that's still 15 generations.
Robert Morgan that’s just a generation, not a lifetime. 3-4 generations can be alive at the same time, but only one king/president can be alive at a time, so if one was a president from his election to death, then it would be still far less than 15. There could be a grandfather, father, and son alive at the same time. That’s three different gens, but only one of them is the king.
I like how one line includes names like Bushrod, Spotswood, and Brynda, and then another line has five Johns.

Well, this is certainly fun. Since Washington didn't have children, it might have been difficult for him to name any relative his successor. Jefferson, Madison, James Monroe didn't have children or surviving sons. Maybe a nasty civil war with little John Adams as a top contender for the throne. I'm assuming that Hamilton still dies and that Aaron Burr is tarnished.
I can confirm that Robert E. Lee IV was still alive when you made this video, but, according to an obituary I saw, "died May 14, 2020, at age 95 at his home in Bethesda, Maryland" -- a Union State, although he was a graduate of, appropriately enough, Washington & Lee University in Virginia.

That's what I was thinking. William Washington was a commissioned general at the time of George's death, Bushrod was on the Supreme Court. There probably would have been major intrigue between the two of them to seize power. George Washington Parke Custis, being only 18 at the time may have either ended up as the puppet of a 3rd Party like Alexander Hamilton or John Adams or have mysteriously "disappeared" to clear the way for one of the others.
No guarantee it would be any of them: when I asked this very question in AP History, my teacher said he thought King George would’ve named Hamilton as his successor.
@@TPTGopher Yeah. That's kind of what I alluded to. I really think that Hamilton would have a strong case for next ruler either by designation or machination.
George Washington in the position of king would probably be very similar to Toyotomi Hideyoshi prior to the birth of Hideyori. He could very easily have a half dozen or more "proteges" and relatives dating from the Revolutionary War on who would vie for the throne.
It's really to America's benefit that Washington willingly stepped down otherwise America may have fallen into an anarchic state leading to a very probably formal division of the country into several smaller blocks.
Like if Hamilton did come out on top the Virginians probably would not take that lightly.
War of the Roses (American)
American Game of Thrones
Honestly, going completely by the diversity of names, I have to favor the Senior Line. Having kings Spotswood and Bushrod and queens Estrella, Brynda and Odelle is just so distinct, instead of a line of Johns or Roberts.
It is very Targaryen of them.
It’s very Code Geass
or 18 Louis
This channel is so so so so so good
Just imagining that there could have been a King Larry makes this whole academic exercise worthwhile. Very entertaining. :D
I wonder what Mount Rushmore would look like in this alternate reality: GW, Bushrod, Robert E Lee and Spotswood.
Why does this remind me of that bootleg toy line with Superman, Shrek, Lightning McQueen and a power ranger?
Would there still be a Mount Rushmore?
@@JonathanMoosey Rushmore seems a good name for an american king.
Rushmore I. son of Bushrod from the line of Spotswood II. heir to the throne of the Kingdom of American New England.
Now that is something I have to experiment with...
@@HappyBeezerStudios The possibilities are endless, I am sure you would make an excellent king. Long live King Rushmore l!
Fake news: 👎
Alternative history: 👍
Fake News is news that’s true, but makes you look bad.
@@EvanDahill Fake News is news that is fake. This shouldn't be that hard to figure out.
@@Kizechx Actually Evan is correct. The term fake news was coined by the Trump administration in order to flag true stories that were negative for them. It has nothing to do with whether the story is factual or not. It is a way for someone to signal to their base to ignore the facts that were conveyed.
@@azrealle9474 Sorry but that's not true. The term was first introduced when talking about russian bots that would spread knowingly false information on social media to rile both conservatives and liberals in order to create dissent between parties. That's the only true definition. Just because Trump picked up on this and calls something "fake news" doesn't mean he is right or change the term.
You definitely correct a real alternate history from what had truly happened, because seems as if you Caucasian forgotten your history on how y'all came here as slavs.... Y'all wasn't royalty.... but descendants of peasantry of Europe, north Africa and north west Asia! Remember y'all came here as Christians..... right?!
Loved this! I'm from a branch of the Custis-Lee line. Robert E. Lee's grandmother is my 5th great-grandaunt.
At the time of this video Robert E. Lee IV, known as "Bob," *was* alive. But as of May 2020, he's passed away at the age of 95. So, in this theoretical "what-if" universe, we would have our third King Robert by now as of 2023.
While the Lee-Curtis line may be the most unlike of the three possible routes, I can't help but wonder what it would be like for King Robert III to know he's descendent from a Prince Consort who fought and lost the civil war (if it indeed came to that). Hard to say because Washington made a choice, a right one considering that happened during the World Wars.
I don’t know that there would have been a “civil war” per se…would the King have wielded sufficient power to just decide the matter outright? Might we have the same constitution and legislature, only replacing 4 year terms with birthright succession? GW had slaves (meant to be freed); RE Lee had slaves-and said he’d prefer ending slavery to war. All the “compromises” between 1787 and 1865 may have turned differently.
I'd argue that Queen Brynda would still be the house of Washington, since her mother, Queen Odelle likely wouldn't have taken her husband's name, as he would've been "only" a prince-consort. Sort of like how Queen Elizabeth didn't take Prince Phillip's surname. Maybe it would be Hansen-Washington. The same with King Larry the 2nd. Queen Mary would've likely stayed Washington, with Larry being Shaffner-Washington.
Queen Elizabeth did take Prince Phillip's surname, but still putting her surname as the main. The current british monarch are Mounbatten-Windsors, but the main house is still the House of Windsor.
I do agree with your last sentence, but considering that this chart uses real information from private citizen, it would've been surprising if the females didn't to take the husband's surname
But in a scenario where the queen had a Royal house, they wouldn't be private citizens in the first place. See?
@@BaNana-dc2tk ish... the cadet branches are Mountbatten-Windsor, the main line is Windsor -> Elizabeth - Charles - William - George Windsor, the rest of them can use the family surname Mountbatten-Windsor (Eg, Harry’s son name is Archie Mountbatten Windsor, even if Charles would be only Windsor, if the BRF used surnames instead of their dukedoms)
If Charles becomes king, I believe it would change to House of Mountbatten-Winsdor
So many hypotheticals, but assuming the U.S. adopted the British protocols in place at 1776 and didn't follow changes the British monarchy made after, the surname of the queen's consort indeed would become the new royal house. When Victoria married Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, the royal house changed from the House of Hanover to the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. So, no, Queen Brynda would not reign under the House of Washington, but House of Hansen or the new royal house name from her husband's surname. Again, these are royal house names, and not considered the family surname.
In 1917, when German Gotha bombers were attacking Great Britain, the King changed the royal house to the House of Windsor. He also adopted the royal house as a family surname (royals otherwise had no surname) for use by family members not known with the Royal Highness, Prince, or Princess designations. When Elizabeth became Queen in 1952, she kept Windsor as the family name and house name. Prince Philip's surname is an Anglicized form of his mother's maiden name, Battenburg, which was also German. Eventually the queen did hyphenate the surname to Mountbatten-Windsor for use by the family when needed, but did not change the royal house, so Charles, William, and George will all reign under the House of Windsor unless another change to protocol is made. For legal documents they use their title, such as Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge. Informally, I have seen where William and Kate use just Cambridge (i.e. William Cambridge and Kate Cambridge).
Nobody:
America: ALL HAIL KING BUSHROD AND PRINCE SPOTSWOOD
