    I've never seen dirt brought in to put below the concrete foundation before. Normally it's gravel that's compacted, to prevent erosion, sinkage etc. Perhaps the ground is compacted enough and it wasn't called for in this case (the rebar was enough?). This metal shop probably doesn't weigh as much as a wooden shop either, so could be just not necessary.. Nice video and shop! Thanks for documenting.

    • @littleaboutalot7478

      Yeah, guess it is kinda the way they do things around here. It has concrete beams (around 8 to 10in. of concrete and 6 in wide) around the perimeter and through the middle. Thanks for the tip though.

    Great video! I am looking to build a new shop pretty much the same size so it was interesting to see you with your boat and other items in the shop. Gave me a better feel if I might need to increase my size a little. I have an existing metal building with a half slab for a motor home ( not sure why my Dad didn't pour a full slab, cost I guess but a big mistake ) and the quality is not near as nice as yours. I was thinking about disassembling and putting up a post and beam garage but after watching this I may go with another metal building. Definitely cheaper with the lumber shortage and outrageous prices.

    I am working with Cardinal/Safeguard as well. How happy are you with the roll up door quality? When closed, is the seal good enough to keep stuff out? I'm getting advice from multiple folks to go with panel high rise tracks as a better option.

    Thank you for sharing! Glad to see your video is getting some views, it’s very helpful!
    Question: the websites I’m seeing seem to have 9’ walls (and around 12’ peak) as standard; if it’s just for storage, did you have something in mind as to why you got the taller walls? I couldn’t think of anything that would need height but I’m wondering what I’m missing. I’m using mine as a workshop and some storage.

    • @littleaboutalot7478
      @littleaboutalot7478  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! I had higher walls and doors because if I was to have a t-top on my boat it wouldn't fit with regular 8' doors. Also, this might be storage for a RV which would be too tall for the regular doors. Nothing special besides that. Once you build it...that's what you get...

    Hi, just found your chanel watched Metal Building 24\ 36 ,great video. Wonder if you could advise me what direction I need to go. I have prepared an acre of land with well and septic ,had an agreement for a 2016 mobile home of course it fell thru. My question is ,can I have a metal building for a rental dwelling.

    • @littleaboutalot7478
      @littleaboutalot7478  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you could turn it into a barndominium but it really comes down to your local regulations. Whether or not it is legal to do and how you set up the property for a rental resident. A metal building can be a great start but I really can't give advice on it becoming a rental. Thanks for watching.

    I'm looking to build one of these for a one-man car detailing shop. Hard to tell how much room in there, if I had 2 vehicles at a time..from a video! Cars and equipment(compressor, carts, etc.), would you say it's big enough?

    • @littleaboutalot7478
      @littleaboutalot7478  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a 24ft x 36ft building. You can compare it to a normal sized garage to get a feeling of how much more room you would have. 2 Cars you would have plenty of space and depends on where you put your roll-up doors. If you put them on the long side you would have more room to the sides with the equipment of to the side. If you put the doors like I have then you would have room in the front and rear of the vehicles. I store my boat and a trailer in there so I wanted the length. I can put a 24ft boat in there with room to walk around. Thanks for watching!
