Drawn from the enigmatic poetry of mystic Kabir Das, this track is a traditional Qawwali performed by Fareed Ayaz Qawwal, who are known globally for their pioneering space in the ever-evolving genre, rooted in the mystery of the divine. This Qawwali and its timeless poetry, addresses the wistful period between midnight and sunrise, best captured in the word ‘Madrugada’ of Latin origin.
This Qawwali dwells on the birth and the inevitable end of time and age, from the perspective of the lover who longingly watches their beloved sleep, as the night sky slowly and suspensefully turns to dawn. Dawn being when the beloved must awake and resume their journey of enlightenment, and the inescapable separation from the lover.
First released in 2006, presented again, now in 2021 as a remastered Qawwali, with a richer conviction and belief in the Sufistic balance of the feminine and masculine attributes of all beings.

We were forced yes forced to sing this song during morning assembly in our school in New Delhi. I used to hate hate it. Fast forward 40 years and I heard this and it gave me goose bumps. I saw a version on the dream journey and it brought tears to my eyes. Amazing rendition. Love love it. See how we change?
Rohail Hyatt is not just a musician, he is a divine gift, healer of souls and inviter to Allah. Same goes to Farid Ayaz Qawal. both are true Murshids.
In this age, where unaltered classical n qawali are rare to find, these gems are invaluable.

I was born in 2008 and i think I was born in wrong era missed so much things like this masterpiece and many great songs of Atif Aslam like jalpari chana dholna and this is a masterpiece thankfully there is a youtube and have no words for rohail Bhai he is absolutely amazing ❤
Infact i was entering in my young age and we had the opportunity of such masterpieces to listen on casette tape and then DVDs era and Mp3 players.

Is it an overstatement to make that this qawali changed my life..
Of course, the performance itself is nothing short of brilliant, but my god, the fidelity of this recording! Rarely do we hear such pristine sound quality & production on qawwali recordings. The only other example I can think of is Nusrat Sahab's Live at WOMAD recordings. Refreshing, to say the least.
P.S. As another commenter said, would love to hear a production of "Sanwal Morr Muharran" by you.
