Ave Maria | Oboe Solo | The Bands of HM Royal Marines

This piece of music is definitely one of the most beautiful versions of the traditional prayer 'Ave Maria'. It is generally misattributed to the Italian Baroque composer Giulio Caccini, but the Russian guitarist Vladimir Vavilov, actually published and recorded it on the Melodiya label with the ascription to “Anonymous” in 1970.
Performing it at the Mountbatten Festival of Music in the iconic Royal Albert Hall is Band Colour Sergeant Joe Sharp.

Wow, a real blast from the past.! Seeing. Neil Sylvester still in the horn ranks.! Last time I saw him was in 1978 when he used to sit in his practice grot next to mine after a night out hacking his lungs up out the window. 😂 When was this recorded.?
