As a boat using his bigmotor goes by !😂
Texas rig is the godfather of bass fishing. It will never not work. A man could fish a Texas rig 100% of the time, and do well
This is a fact. There may be some scenarios where another presentation is incrementally better, but you should still catch fish on a Texas Rig.
I love the Texas Rig. Fishing from the bank for me it’s so good and produces numbers. I do want to throw the shakey head more just to have another tool in my arsenal. Thanks for the content.
Thank you for watching! Overall I feel like a Texas rig is probably a better bank fishing presentation because it is so versatile and can be fished on clean bottoms or the heaviest cover. Never hurts to try something new, but fishing from the bank there’s something to be said about simplicity.
Thanks Miles. ✌️
Great topic. I'm fairly new to bass fishing, but this makes sense to me. I agree with you. Typically, shakey head is a finesse/clear water/spinning reel deal, and T rig is heavier cover/dirtier water/baitcasting scenario. Although, I've definitely caught fish pitching a shakeyhead around laydowns in stained water, too. Just because I probably didn't have a Texas rig tied on at the time. Thanks for the teachings.
Yeah, that’s the thing about comparing different rigs- there’s always caveats and exceptions, and fish can be caught even when they may not be the best choice for the scenario.
Thanks for the explanation. Continued prayers for your beautiful daughter, you, and your wife. God is good.
What about shaky head v. Neko rig v. Ned rig?
I’ve actually got that topic on the list of upcoming videos! Stay tuned.
A Texas rig if using Zman soft plastics is going to be the best of both worlds. The worm stands up on the Texas rig pretty much the same as a shakey head. My point is, I can fish the Texas rig as a shakeyhead or a Texas rig on the same cast. Just more versatile to me.
I have been debating this exact topic the last week or two. Miles pls give me your thoughts on this, and thanks for bringing it up in a video.
I love this! Im a big proponent of fishing what you have confidence in, and not making things too over complicated. The one thing I will say, is many techniques in fishing are just small differences from others. These small differences usually don’t result in dramatically more bites, but the difference between the angle a shaky head holds a worm on the bottom versus what a Texas rig presents it can be the difference in getting just a few more bites, which can be huge in tournaments. I would say, that a shaky head does offer a slight edge on cleaner bottoms due to the angle of the line tie. Again, fish what you’re confident in, but if you need to fine tune presentations I think it pays off to pay attention to small details sometimes.
Thank you for the thoughtful response Dave!
Thanks for the reply Miles. I always have the shakey heads with me, just in case😊.
I choose the Texas rig every time. Drag them in the water and they look exactly the same to me.
