Great video. I have the AX1 as well, and a small tripod. I'm looking to do just what you did. I have the TX500 that I'll take out first, then I have another radio I'll bring out later. I'm upstate NY, just outside Amsterdam. Tnx and GL WA2OUZ John
I have a TX-500 as well. GREAT radio. I'm just west of Binghamton, so not really that far from you. There's another LICW instructor Kasey KD2YMM who lives in Amsterdam. Small world! Thanks for watching and 73!
Do you feel the knee board holds the KX2 satisfactorily to the board? I've always thought they looked kinda shakey watching videos of people using them but I've been becoming more interested now that I run a similar chair in the woods and find myself balancing the KX2 on my knee now lol. So a knee board might be better.
Oh, it's VERY sturdy. I could stand up and walk around and the radio would stay put. The top half of the board is grippy rubber, and there are shock cords to attach the radio to the board. That one is from tufteln.com/ and it's awesome!
Ya that chair is Awesome if ya weigh a 150 soaking wet. That thing would'nt hold up a pair of my shoes lol. Oh to be a 5'9" reg. Being a giant is no joy.
The weight capacity is 250. I'm only 165 so it's not at issue for me lol. I just realized I'm right down the road from you at the moment too. I'm in Henrietta
I haven’t been watching your videos that much lately. No reflection on you. I’m just spread to thin on my time. Here’s what I noticed about you from the past up to present. You’ve gotten a whole lot better! Your sending is great and your copy is very good. I use to could follow along 100% with you in the past. Now I can follow about 85%. 73’s de n5vwn
Nice to work you again Evan. My you were so weak. The AX1 certainly works for you. Amazing! 72 Jeff G4ELZ
It's definitely a challenge with that little tiny antenna. Thanks for getting in the log!
Wow, I didn’t realise you were using an AX1 on the activation, you were an honest 559 into Northern Ireland, very well done, Ian GI0AZB 👌
Yeah, it's crazy how well that antenna works when conditions are good!
Nice job as always. Great fun! The KX2 is really hard to beat as an all around QRP Rig. 73
Hi Evan! Gift yourself a begali adventure. It would fit this operation position so good 😊 73!
I plan on it. The price is a hard pill to swallow, but I'll probably pick one up before summer.
Nice setup OM, hope to catch you on the air soon.

Looks like winter mode still. We’ve got Redbuds flowering out here finally. Maybe I’ll do my first Indiana SOTA tomorrow.
Yeah, spring doesn't hit here in Upstate NY until mid-late April. And then it's winter again by October LOL

Definitely worth it to call sota in a pota. More dedicated chasers.
Yeah, I definitely do it any time I'm at a dual entity.

@@EvanK2EJT that's awesome. I may have to order one. I've looked at that board a few times. Thanks for the info
Did you use a counterpoise or just leverage the RG-316 for that purpose?
Oh I just heard you say you used two radials in the video. Where did you attach them on your tripod?
@@keysrawk There's a little grounding lug on the tripod adapter from Elecraft.

@@EvanK2EJT cool I new you were not to far away. I exceed the weight limit and I’m 6’3 but I’m working on one of those issues lol.
P.S my Begali expedition is on its way from Italy as we speak. I needed some motivation lol.
@@KC2BKM LOL yeah, I used to exceed the weight limit on these chairs too. Yeah, I'm from down near Binghamton, but I'm up in Henrietta today.
@@KC2BKM Awesome! It's a great key. You'll love it!

Thanks! It's definitely gotten easier the more I've done it. I appreciate you watching!
