ABOUT US:
Hello! We're Alex and Lars. We live aboard our 37 foot sailboat, Navika, and are sailing full time. Follow along as we document the highs and lows of life on the water.
Great you are on your way, brilliant the way you express you thoughts hopes and ideas, wish you a memorable safe passage.
Thanks Chris! Excited to share the next parts too
Man plans and God laughs. I applaud your decision to take another crew member. Anything can happen and an extra pair of hands may be very appreciated. All the planning for the best route you think is right is time well spent. However, whatever happens on this passage will be things you remember and talk about for the rest of your lives. I can't wait for your next post. Stay safe.
100% Steve! It really is a once in a lifetime kind of memory you’re left with
What a beautiful video! Passagemaking at its finest! Either roaring along or drifting depending on what mother nature gives you. So glad your sharing this with us!
Can't wait for the new adventures on the other side of the Atlantic!
Yesss! Looking forward to sharing all that 🙌
Great episode, loved all the discussions on where to go. Very informative and entertaining. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and following along :)
Alex, you are such a good story teller! Thanks for sharing your journey.
Ah thank you! 🥰🥰
I’m always perplexed as to why you guys don’t have many, many more followers?!
I’m guessing that once you start cruising away from Europe and more in the Caribbean, or americas you will easily double your current followers!!
I mean, you make great videos, the content is very good (in par with the bigger channels) both of you are young and attractive folks, and lastly you’re cruising with a very popular brand and boat model (which by the way, looks very nice inside)
Anyway, thanks for another great video, hope your crossing went well!!
Cheers 🍻
Andy
uh.... cuz they're repulsive?
Such good memories!!! 🥰😘

Great to see you getting to make the long awaited “leap “. Great video and look forward to seeing how you cope with the weather. Thanks
Thanks Simon! Yeah very strange weather this year..!
Congratulations! Hopefully the crossing will be a multi part series. 😉
Yess that’s what it’ll be!
Just subscribed. Saw your boat on Sailing Sunday. This is my first watch of your videos. I enjoyed your style of filming and storytelling. Thank you for sharing your adventures. It would be interesting to watch an interview with Charlie. The weather routers are pretty important members of the crew. Cheers 🇨🇦
Heyy! Welcome along! Ah we love Sailing Sunday 💜 Good point, would've been super interesting to hear Charlie's perspective and insights too - so much knowledge there. Maybe next time!
Thanks a lot for those "nature videos" ! Your videos are always a pleasant moment for us, in Brittany ! It's a little bit cold at this moment and windy ;)
They look sad about the storm
Should be looking at the bright side you had already provisioned for the voyages. That a huge plus.
Guys new suscriptor, bjen viento y buena mar. Greetings
Wooh welcome aboard! :) gracias a ti
Great video, my boat Marguerite just cross the ATlantic as well, arriving to Barbados January 5, 2023, Dparting Mindelo Dec - 19, 2022
I've had Covid twice , had less effect on me than a cold.
It's that I felt a little off and tested for it or else I would've ignored it.
Was no big deal and did everything I normally spend my time on.
First again South Australia
You're on it!! 👏🏼

A well told story, thanks. Can you confirm the dates that you did the crossing and the average speed over all. Thank you and I will watch the next couple. Myself and two others are heading out of the Med after 3 yrs of solid sailing and will traverse the Atlantic in February 2024. Thank again.
Shame you missed the coast of Brazil, easily reached from Cabo Verde. Have a good passage!
So true! We did wonder about it but Brazil was being really difficult regarding entry and covid at the time so we had to rule it out sadly.
Wind indicator and radar, wow what a advancement especially on this long voyage. Let us know if any differences that you can take note of. Safe passage!⛵️🤞
We’ll definitely let you know in the next videos what differences we find!
Please add your singing in every film...you do it magnetic
Aw thanks! Yeah will try to add more :)
I am going to get a T-shirt made that says “ the swell from hell “
😂😂 I’ll have one too
Where do you get the weather reports from? What is good weather and what is bad weather for sailing?
Did i see a mask on a sailingboat?😂😂😂
Right?? 😂
BLOB OF DEATH !!!! Hahahaaa ❤❤❤
Hahaha bring back those memories 🤣😬😱
hello - what boat are they sailing?
Thank you for this video!
Thanks for following along!
If you get bored, tune the guitar and practice scales 😀😀
what boat you got?
I watch many sailing channels. Why do so few of you wear life jackets while on passage? At keast while going up on deck...
We always wear them in heavy weather and at night. Also tends to be the times that we're least likely to film, which is probably why you don't tend to see them that often
Excuse me, would it be theoretically possible to sail from Florida to Amsterdam? If so how long would it take and how much water do I need to bring?
@user-sd7qt3hy8l Yes it is. Check distance on Google Earth. Add 50% more. Determine what your average speed will be. Use tat to calculate days of passage. Carry a minimum of 10 liters of water per day per person. Install a water maker if that total is too much.
BIG NOTE! Your most likely route would be Florida - Bermuda - Azores - Netherlands.
She talks like an astronaut
Did you guys use i-net in the middle of Atlantic for weather forecast tracking? If yes, which one? Mobile?
We used Predict Wind and our Iridium Go satellite phone - expensive but highly recommend!
rip
This did not age well 😂
...someone please explain why so many sailors think/feel/act like being without wind is the end of the world! They are all content to sit in a marina or on hook "becalmed" but on a passage they act like it matters at all.
Haha you just can't know until you've experienced it. I thought the same as you before until it happened to me - but it messes with your mind like crazy!!
Wouldn’t it be possible to quarantine on your crossing instead of sitting tight ? Assuming you’re both vaccinated
Yes in theory! Except we were both feeling under the weather and you don’t feel like undertaking the longest passage you’ve done when you’re not 100%. But also we hadn’t yet checked out of the country, and we needed to pick up some extra parts before leaving!
@@NavikaSailing absolutely the right. Great channel!
🌺 *Promosm*
People like to view the ocean not someone face the whole way. Check out captain rocket Darwin to philpines real
No offence but people want to view the ocean

Totally agree with this comment.
Hey Andy, thanks! Yeah I think it could be because we’re not as regular with posting our videos (cause we’re always busy adventuring and sitting down below to video edit is a chore!) haha no who knows? 🤷♀️ the TH-cam algorithm is a weird thing to crack! 😂 but thank you 🙏
