Cold Painting Tutorial - Tau Vior`la Crisis Suit

- I`ve been working through some of the newer Tau kits in a different scheme that my previous Tau army. I went with a Kauyon Vior`la scheme. Here's the method that I used using P3, Citadel and Vallejo paints.

gloss coat and tamiya black panel liner would quite literally save you a world of time instead of using agrax in those recesses.

Do the vallejo air paints require any thinning at all?
This is very well done, my question for you is in regards to highlighting with an airbrush. I see so many people who use an airbrush just kind of hit the model all over to highlight it. Light sources are never considered. I would even say you did that a bit on this model. On the left shoulder (if you're watching the video) for example, it looks like the middle of the shoulder pads is highlighted darker, which doesn't make sense. Then the middle of the sides of the jump pack, that too doesn't make sense. Would you say it's just a painters preference or is there some meaning for this that I just can't grasp?
RoboticDragon Hey mate. I look at on a piece by piece situation. For general gaming pieces, I'm not super concerned about having a specific light source. If I am looking for a competition piece, light direction is more important.
Cold Painting Table ah ok gotcha. So then I'm going to guess that's what the majority do also. they don't aim for light source, they just want it looking flashy and cool. Great videos, thanks for replying.

I know this is an old video, but I need to ask. What needle size do you use for these kind of fine detail work? As well as PSI? I'm using an Iwata Eclipse airbrush with the standard 0,35mm needle, but I still find it hard to do this fine detailwork. Looks awesome!
.21 for the silverairbush, .15 or .13 for the black one. 25ish PSI.
Can you please show how you use the varnish?

kidwithAnose so busy with commissions! I can really only get videos in when I'm not back logged.
I haven't painted anything in this scheme since this vid, but really it's applicable for any scale of Tau unit. I've been playing with glazes more in the past year, that would come into effect for OSL options or shading with a brush.
How do you not rub the paint off the head/antenna with your hands? I keep trying to paint these suits and it just rubs straight back to primer 😞 awesome video buddy really enjoyed it
I varnish projects as I go along to stop this from happening.
Cold Painting Table ive been trying to find a beginner level varnishing tutorial for almost 6 months now. I don’t want to risk screwing up my paint jobs because i have no idea how to spray and mix and do’s and don’t’s. Any tips? Thanks for the reply

How do you keep the little valleys/lines on the crisis suit visible? They always seem to disappear for me, even when I really thin my paints.

I'm curious was this crisis suit the result of a great conversion or is this a forgeworld model? I've never seen some of the details showcased on your model.
Niccolò Romano newly released GW crisis suits. They updated their look with the latest codex.
