This might be the missing piece of the puzzle to finally achieve endless flat water pumping.
In the last sessions I found myself exhausted after around 40 seconds of pumping, unable to figure out what I was missing. So, I returned to my desk, studied again the technique of the pros and compared it to my own (an inconsistent pump foiler).
After hours of observation, study, comparison, trial and thought, I believe I may have identified the last piece to solve this puzzle and unlock the effortless pump ride we've been looking for since our first day on the board.
In this series, I’m documenting my journey into pump foiling with the goal of helping beginners like me return to the dock, pump longer and further in any condition, and start from anywhere, so that in a near future we’ll unlock together the full potential of this discipline and explore the beauty of the world on our tiny body-powered boards.
    Current set up:
    Board: 2020 North Scoop 120x46x4.5cm 15.3L
    Mast: Axis 19mm Aluminium 82cm
Fuselage: Axis Red Short Fuselage 680mm
    Front Wing: Axis PNG 1310
    Rear Wing: Axis 460 Pump

I love how much thought you put into this. I got my pump foil. I have a couple days of practice on it now, and am improving, but still have a long way to go. I am not even to the point where I can make some of these nuanced adjustments, I need more practice just to keep moving first.

Exactly. As you said, at the very beginning it's important to get used to the feeling and start getting comfortable on the board. I believe it's very helpful at the beginning to just try to glide and eventually add one single 'hop' at the end of the glide just to introduce the pumping movement. I'll do my best to release my PUMP FOIL GUIDE as soon as possible so that you can absorb all the knowledge at once without waiting for my videos to come out.

Dear Gäel, I think the peace you are missing is the foil you are using, the PNG 1310 is a very slow Front Wing,
The pumping with High aspect front wings is different, try the 1300 if you don’t want to change the fuse. But I suggest you to try High aspect Front wings Like the 1401 to do Dock Start and then going down to a 1201. This was the way that we found a difference pumping that you are looking for.

How is pumping with High aspect front wings different? Less propoise like? Please describe your pumping method.

@finn the pumping is the rounded cadence of the “sine wave” Gāel draw in the small yellow paper advertising that he saw in Gwen’s Pumping more profound and rounded cadence.

@finn you can watch at minute 4:00 Gäel’s draw sine wave to see the rounded cadence.

@Gäel 15 June 2019 Kane Dewilde was the one first filmed Proneing guy in waves, at this times he was designing stabilizers, and he was already using thinner leading edge profiles.

Hello Martin, thank you for your suggestion. I hope I'll get the chance to try different wings soon and evaluate an upgrade from there. Is it true that thinner wings require more speed to take off (and therefore are harder to dockstart), or the lack of lift at lower speed is compensated by the larger wing span and higher aspect ratio? Thanks
By the way, what are you riding?

Greatest Video on this topic! Really epic! ! Which Foil to User? Sabfoil 1350?

Thanks! I'm using the Axis 1310, but the Leviathan 1350 appears to be a great choice too. If you have the budget, the new F-one Jam 1900 should be incredible.

The best Swimmers take the least amount of Strokes, similar to the best Pumpers who take the least number of Pumps :)
