I have this with the Sony WH-1000XM5s too. They have a new setting you can't actually disable that turns off the noise cancelling if the headphones think you may be in a dangerous situation, like traffic. Unfortunately for me that means it turns off when my electric kettle makes noise boiling water for tea, just to name an example. It's incredibly frustrating.
Yep I have this too. I wear them on the plane and they amplify other people's voices it's so obnoxious. There's a setting to disable it in the app and it doesn't work 🤣
For me it's even worse, the beep at the self check out resets my WF-1000XM4 ANC and they switch so often and quick because of the scanning, it's so annoying and I really want to fix it, it's probably only a software problem
PSA. Do NOT use active noise cancelling when using dangerous power tools. Not Even really good earplugs. It will trick your brain and somewhat disorient you when you cant hear at all. Even the most aware person will get somewhat careless. I learned this the hard way. Yes use ear protection. But you need to be able to hear at least a little bit.
Adaptive transparency (Not adaptive Audio) on AirPods Pro 2 seem to be about the right solution for me. Power tools, and everything sound the same and I can hear everything just like normal without them in, but using light power tools that are still just a bit too loud without hearing protection, the tool sounds identical, but just quieter. So I can still easily hear if there’s a problem. as well as now being able to hear if people are trying to get my attention.
To give him some leeway, he only mentioned he needed to check if the blades were spinning, but yeah he probably should've mentioned it was an electric one
I am fairly certain you can change the ANC intensity from "Adaptive" to any level on a scale from 1 to 4 (with adaptive being the 5th option iirc) so the inconsistency with the ANC can be adjusted by manually setting the ANC intensity.
Yes, that's how noise canceling works. It's used for constant sound, there's not even remotely enough processing power to have them switch quick enough to cancel sudden noises.
You're both wrong. The problem isn't that it let's random noises thru, the problem is that after the earbuds let that random noise in, the Noise cancelling goes down a couple notches even if that random noise is no longer present
I had issue using them for mowing my yard. They did fine for mowing but weed eating it would randomly go loud and make odd sounds and I never had that issue with my Samsung bud pro 2s or Air pod Pro 2s
i like how ANC is the selling point, i never understand using ANC and i have the pixel buds pro, the only time i use the ANC is when im home when im out and about i use transparency mode so i hear my surroundings... hows the sound with different genres? how long was the battery life? good for non tech people?! you can add so much more info that is relevant to someone then just ANC.
I’ve used a lot of wireless earbuds and inconsistency with noise cancelling and transparency mode quality, touch controls, etc is the reason I’m willing to spend so much on AirPods Pro’s, whether it’s with my s24 ultra or my 15 pro max I like the AirPods Pro 2 the most These nothing ear a are SO CLOSE to the AirPods Pro 2 and I’m sure for a lot of people are definitely worth it But personally I’d take any gen AirPods Pro over any other wireless earbuds for my daily Note I have an audiophile setup at home, these aren’t my only headphones to use
The Sonys and AirPods for me will always be kings of earbuds and earphones, they have the complete package, good sound, good design, amazing noise cancellation etc. Bose is an outsider
I had the first generation nothing they were great but after a year the adhesive between the clear plastic of the buds won't hold the pieces together and the whole thing disintegrated like a stack of legos.
Hey Andrew what about the fit? In the video you shook the mannequin and it just fell off, is that your experience as well? I don't care much about the noise canceling but falling off if I go for a jog would be a big red flag for me
The jlab air pops are so much better than any other earbuds for just 15 bucks and I literally would never spend more than that on fully wireless earbuds because why do that when you can actually put your money into a good pair of iems that you can actually keep forever instead
Well audio is a huge field. The competition is even priced significantly higher with sony and sennheiser coming in at $250. There are even $1000 wired "earbuds" or "in-ear-monitors" (at this point). It's really crazy! 😄
ANC will not block out all noise. They mostly block out the low end and some mids in the frequency response. You need to be more specific when you saying your hearing everything. If your hearing a baby's loud cries, your supposed to because those are higher frequencies that cannot be all canceled. If you are hearing some of the lows like the hum of an engine then the anc is prob not doing their job.
I would say sound quality and ANC also matters. Even comfort matters. I have a toxic relationship with silicone-tip earbuds because they fall out of my ear (that’s why I use regular AirPods and over-ears) but I really want to give Nothing a try.
i use iems but most people use earbuds like these with Active Noise Cancelling to block out the outside environment so theyre much better for outside use cases
Here is my problem with Rabbit R1 “app interface”. When you order an Uber you might need to move to where the driver has parked or you might have to respond to questions from said driver (usually done through the app). If you basically start over again when you ask it for a status update, then you may more often than not wind up stranded somewhere.
I don’t know if this is a Segway towards undermining Apple & its users in the very end; but Nothing and Apple are very different companies, with very different products and perspectives.
$99 I don't think anyone could really afford these with a minimum wage job we're too busy paying for a week supply of food for about $400 and that's again just for a week

Ouch, that’s not great
is this in a new firmware update? i haven’t had this issue or feature at all
For the Sony earbuds, you're better off turning the adaptive sound control off. Just manually turn noise cancelling on/off with the left bud
For me it's even worse, the beep at the self check out resets my WF-1000XM4 ANC and they switch so often and quick because of the scanning, it's so annoying and I really want to fix it, it's probably only a software problem

@@quantuminfinity4260 I wouldn't necessarily trust that to be protecting your hearing. Probably fine if it's not too loud of a tool.

Sounds like a software thing? Could perhaps be a future fix.
Yes, that's how noise canceling works. It's used for constant sound, there's not even remotely enough processing power to have them switch quick enough to cancel sudden noises.
that wasn't his point. I think he just doesn't know about adaptive noise canceling and that it's an option to disable.
