  • The Ampeg BA-108v2 is a 20 watt solid state combo bass amp with an 8 inch speaker. In this brief video you can hear how it sounds at a few different settings. It is not a review but rather a demo. The amp is miked with a Shure SM57. The bass used is a Fender American Standard Precision bass.

    Thank you Sir. Just ordered one for an area near a desk to give me another place to practice. Reviews looked good for just a small low volume practice amp.
    Confirms my purchase. Wished I'd seen this first. 👍

    Great Demo. I have always loved the use of text in all your videos, and the editing and old school vibe of your content is top notch.
    I have a bit of a request.
    Could you do more material with the Aguilar Tonehammer 500 in the coming weeks.

      Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to write this! I don't have the Aguilar anymore, I wanted a more transparent sound and got me a a different amp. I still think the Aguilar is of the best quality and great for a vintage type of warmer sound though.

    Hello, I'm looking for a bass amp for my small home recording studio. Would this one be powerful enough to record? (postpunk, shoegaze, alternative rock)

    • @AndreasBrink
      @AndreasBrink  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are not recording a whole band simultaneously it's powerful enough. It doesn't have a DI out though, so miking it is the only alternative.

    I'm thinking of getting one of these to replace my BA10 which is a little big for a practice amp. Do you think this would be loud enough to play an acoustic coffeehouse show?

    • @AndreasBrink
      @AndreasBrink  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It should work, but personally I would prefer something with a little bit more power than 20 watts.

    Great demo. I have this same amp, and any time I take the volume over 1-1.5, I get a nasty distorted sound. I was considering returning it for the BA-110. I can't figure out if it's the speaker or something in the box.

    • @jmcsquared18
      @jmcsquared18 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it is good for, nor supposed to be used for, high-volume sessions like live performances. I use it at home for just some simple jamming and it works well for me in that context. I like a little bit of an in-your-face sound but it isn't unpleasant in any way with a volume setting less than 1.

    • @Justice_Hammer
      @Justice_Hammer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a problem with buzzes on many frequencies once the volume was raised. The speaker has no foam between it and the cab so it's just wood on metal. I had some foam pads (super thin) left over from another speaker i had bought for something else - pulled out the speaker, put the foam underneath, popped speaker back in (now with foam between metal and wood). I'm pretty sure this is your issue, assuming you had the active/ passive pad worked out already
