It interesting how the movie discuss language as a concept, like how Dr. Louise mentions that the aliens may not know the difference between a weapon and a tool.
Excellent thoughtful reaction. The movie implies that Ian was angry when Louise told him she knew their child would have a disease and die young but decided to go ahead and give birth to this child anyway. He thought this was the wrong choice. Louise has truly accepted living in the present while knowing the future yet not letting this knowledge ruin her life by trying to outsmart the future. Most people will not be able to do this.
Better than than that, Thinking like maybe nine or so, It has become upon several viewings, one of my favorite Sci Fi movies. A serious movie along the lines of Contact. It rings true. .

At 3:49…..that’s a fire alarm system….there are switches throughout the building that you can flip to set that alarm if there is a fire….or in this case aliens
What logic would make the different countries think their weapons would do anything to an alien ship that has control over time/space.
A very interesting discussion point - how should humanity respond in the face of technologically superior extraterrestrial beings?
1 Despite a vast technological gap, we fight on, even with a main-warrior mentality that risks extinction.
2 We surrender completely, even with a submission mentality that leads to enslavement.
3 We abandon Earth, doing everything possible to preserve a spark of hope in an escape mentality.
There may be other options, all of which are perfect for science fiction discussions.
Not sure if you know but the radar, FLIR and sonar evidence at this point is on the side that this is our reality, they are here and superior. they hide from us as they wish, though they play tag with our air force. but generaly they just let us go on with our business, just as we do with many species of bird. Does that make us wildlife on our own planet, or are we their pets? Of course it is possible they aren't here, but their drones are here and that could mean anything - the civilization that sent them could have no interest in earth and likely is extinct as our species is so young that the odds are low we would exist at the same time as aliens. @@HEX_it_UP
Just found your channel. I have no idea what the anime series etc are, so I would be lost there, but I hope you will do more major films, if possible. I like to see the reaction of intelligent people who were not born in the US or in a Western culture and how they feel about films that are thought-provoking.
