@@Heat55wade3 Firstly, THANK YOU SO MUCH for that incredible compliment 💖💖 This game was incredible. I’m right there with you. I’d love to be able to save her in game 3. I can accept if it’s not the Aerith of the Beagle world because it’s still an Aerith. Sephiroth’s just world-jumping and killing her across multiple realities at this point. I wonder just how strong they’ll make Safer Sephiroth in game 3? If Bizarro is anything to go by, here in game 2, then we’re in for a REALLY fun time in game 3. 💖 Thanks SO much for checking the video out. I’m glad you enjoyed it. 💖💖
@@grantsvoiceongames1992 Haha no prob! I like when I'm watching ones like this where my reactions really align with the react-er, and you also made a lot of connections to stuff from Remake and AC and the original (that Bizarro reveal is still crazy). Definitely an incredible game, still thinking about it every day since it launched. Yeah the Aerith stuff is interesting. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I'm of the mind that we *did* save her and she's just stranded out there somehow because of Sephiroth colliding/superimposing realities (like the original timeline) or something, haha. I also want to believe Aerith is simply special like Sephiroth and exists across all these realities as she jumps between them, retaining her memories, and that she's always our Aerith and it's not, say, the 1997 Aerith in the church scene or whatever. But who knows! I grew up on Kingdom Hearts and FF so I'm always gonna err on the more romantic side of things, lmao The devs have been really coy about her "fate" in recent interviews, and I feel like Remake and Rebirth have gone out of their way to make Aerith's loneliness and tragic life more apparent than ever before (that trial was so rough, and then she's all alone again in that final shot before credits), so much so that there's gotta be a brighter light at the end of the tunnel. Can't wait for Part 3 though. I agree Safer Sephiroth will be crazy. Imagine the Weapon boss fights too!
@Heat55wade3 That’s the thing! The weapon boss fights could go several ways, I reckon. Imagine if Emerald Weapon gets turned into an underwater shooter, and you’re using the submarine to damage it. Or if Ultima Weapon physically latches onto the deck of the Highwind, and you have the party striking its appendages to make it let go. I do wonder if we’ll get actual superboss fights - but then I remind myself that Chadley exists and they’re probably gonna do a full gauntlet in the Data VR missions. I’d love to see Omega weapon make a new appearence in FF7 canon outside of Dirge of Cerberus ~ but then where do you place it? Guarding the KotR materia! 😍💖 As it stands, we have 4 remaining summons left to see: Bahamut Zero, Typhon, Hades, and KotR. I genuinely don’t think we’ll be getting VR missions for these last 4 entities, and that we’ll have to physically go out and find them. Bahamut Zero can still be located in Cosmo Canyon after the Huge/Massive Materia quest line is done, (Shinra 226, Underwater Reactor, Corel Reactor - which is now in ruins in Rebirth - and Fort Condor proper). Typhon needs to be in the Ancient Forest, and that only becomes accessible when Ultima Weapon is defeated. KotR could actually be story relevant and in this new lore, have been an ancient weapon used by the Cetra to have fought Jenova. The party tracks it down after a very long time of tracing tidbits around the world and arriving at one small little island waaaaaay out in the ocean. Dunno if the devs will still want to keep Chocobo breeding as a mandatory requirement to acquire KotR, but if the choose to make KotR part of the main narrative, breeding probably won’t be a mandatory requirement. But I definitely expect to fight the weapons in some capacity. They could even take the Sapphire Weapon design idea from FFXV (Luna’s DLC), and work it into a boss fight or an incredibly cinematic scene at Junon. We’ve seen the size of the Sister Ray. Sapphire Weapon is supposed to dwarf that colossal cannon. Part 3 is gonna be wild. I’m excited to see how it turns out. Bring on 20XX already!! 🤣🤣 (Nah, the devs can have all the time to cook part 3. I trust them on this).
@@grantsvoiceongames1992 Oh man yeah, I really love this game's combat and can't wait for more Hard Mode gauntlets, hopefully with the weaps involved. I do hope they figure out how to make combat work with a lot of the Weapons/summon fights despite their Bizarro-Seph-tier size, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went the FF16 Eikon-fights route for some of them too which I guess would be alright for things like Emerald which just can't work outside of turn-based gameplay (unless they somehow add underwater combat, but hey, they've shocked me several times already so who knows lol). I hadn't even thought about a couple of those summons you mentioned either. KotR is probably gonna be insane. Maybe it even gets the Gilgamesh treatment where we slowly build up to it? Yeah, the wait for Part 3 is gonna be tough. Tho, I'm also comfortable for now in knowing I really loved Rebirth and that it'll be hard to top this one for me (especially if Aerith doesn't come back at all), so I'm fine stewing on what we already have for a while longer lol. I still hate the "You saved her!.....lol, no not really" moment, but that aside it's still a fantastic game. Initially I just wanted a straight remake, but it's hard to argue against changes when they gave us the dream date and the church scene in the final chapter.
For me, it was the perfect way to showcase Cloud’s mentality and psychological disconnect from reality - or at least the reality he’s physically in. We, as players, thought we saved her this time, but look carefully at where the sword stabbed into the ground. When we first see it, it’s in the mosaic tiles. Then we get to see the sword suddenly, actually, in concrete. This is where the blood comes in. This is where Cloud’s physically at. My take is that he genuinely believes he saved Aerith, and when he challenged Sephiroth’s blade and Cloud’s sword did that whole rainbow glow thing, it created a new reality. In Sephiroth’s own words, when destiny is challenged, new worlds are born. We hear Aerith genuinely reflecting on what Cloud did for her during the battle against Sephiroth when she says “I saw what you did back there, Cloud. Thank you”. Even Sephiroth acknowledges her unwanted and unwelcome presence in that space between realities by saying to her “Begone. Your part is played”. Sephiroth is directly addressing Aerith here, and he wouldn’t be able to do that if she were dead, or at the very least if the Aerith from the world Cloud just created was dead. As for where this Aerith disappears to? I have no idea. I wanna say the lifestream, but that indicates that this Aerith has also died then, as returning to the lifestream is repeatedly addressed as what happens when you die in the world setting of FF7. I WILL make the bold prediction though, that it’s ultimately gonna be either: All 10 characters vs.Safer Sephiroth in the finale of Game 3, with the capability to toggle between all of them at once, like how Octopath Traveler 2 allowed players to utilise every single party member simultaneously for the final boss of that game. (Psst! There’s a video on the channel), but if it’s a team of 3 that has to go against Sephiroth in the Northern Crater, I really think it’ll be Cloud, Zack and Aerith. 4 of the most important characters in VII’s story locked in a bitter struggle to the end, and if it ends up being two parties of 2 characters fighting Sephiroth, then it’s gonna be Zerith & Cloti. They’re gonna be the endgame teams to take down Sephiroth. That’s my prediction! Glad you enjoyed the video, and I REALLY appreciate your taking the time to comment (and even moreso the time it’s taken to read this thesis, boring as it may have been). Have a great day! 💖
This is the great thing about the ending. It allows for so many diverse theories that likely no one is going to guess it completely, and just as likely most (sane) theories probably have an element of truth in them. I think it's fairly evident for a lot of the game, particularly in Ch14 that Aerith and Sephiroth are locked in a battle of 4-D chess. By the time we get to the final chapter both Aerith and Sephiroth have their "future memories", and both likely know how their encounter at the Forgotten Capital is supposed to go down ("Whatever happens, don't blame yourself"). IMO, both try to change things for their own benefit. Aerith, doesn't want Cloud there at all (hence the white whispers directly impede him when he tries to follow Aerith in the sleeping forest, and they offer no help when Cloud does get to the capital and needs to get past the wall of fate - it's the black whispers who ultimately breach it for him). This is probably to spare him the torment that she knows he'll feel for not being able to save her. Sephiroth does want him there and to get even closer to saving her ("You need a little push"). This is probably to send him over the edge psychologically even earlier than in the OG, which is perhaps the narrow margin he thinks he needs to change the ultimate outcome. With that context, if you watch the Masamune after it plants in the ground you see it's the white whispers who rush up from the ground around it. IMO this is Aerith, via the white whispers, course correcting by moving Cloud back to the OG reality where she dies (Aerith seems to have no problem in moving Cloud between realities, she's done it at least twice just in this chapter already). Where Cloud sees her alive in this reality I think that's lifestream Aerith in his head (She has form for this, remember back to the resolution scene in Remake, lifestream Aerith) keeping him from mentally going off the deep end. This is why no one else can see her alive, only Cloud. Although Tifa gets flashes (because she's been exposed to the lifestream earlier in the game) and Red (who is already more sensitive to the lifestream than the others). This is also why she makes it appear that she's interacting with the rest of the gang in the final scene, when clearly she isn't really. It's all a facade to convince Cloud that she's still alive and will be staying at the Forgotten Capital to pray so that he carries none of her death baggage with him when he goes after Sephiroth. It's also IMO the reason that Sephiroth compliments Aerith at the end of the game, he had no idea she was capable of manipulating the different realities and Cloud's mental state so effectively. Also worth remembering Sephiroth's face when Cloud was intercepting his blade. He looked smug. As if he knew that Cloud's efforts were always going to be in vain no matter what. Re the final game - I think the idea of a Cloud/Aerith/Zack team up is a sound one, but I don't see Tifa being left out again. My guess is that we'll see something similar to what we got at the Forgotten Capital - a battle across multiple realities - most likely Aerith and Zack in one, the rest of the gang in the other (probably multi-stage again) and then perhaps Cloud bouncing between the two.
