    Mark, it looks like you've been playing a lot as of late. You're looking extra fluid, but then again, you play great no matter. We've touched base before on how there are times when you can't play as much as you'd like too. In any event, regarding your comment about tabbing this, that is a lot of extra work for you and I applaud you for taking the time and effort in doing it. I hope people appreciate all the work you put in. Big thanks!!

      Thank you Steve. This one took a good amount of work. I was home for a week and thought, "okay, let's get one of the more technical ones out of the way." I was able to record a few. This one was very painful, as the repetitive motion is hard on old hands even with sufficient warm up. There are a few mistakes in the demo, but all in all, it's how it sounds when I play it. Striving for perfect recordings isn't something I'm into - good thing, as I'd never make any videos that way!
      And thanks for your comment about the tab. Yes, it's work. I think it's okay as a teaching tool, but I do warn against over-using tab. Transcribing solos yourself is a great exercise. One great way to get into it is to use TH-cam teaching videos and write it yourself from the instructions. Then you can graduate to getting it from the songs themselves. I find it's more self-discovery about what positions, patterns, and tones you see and prefer on the guitar. Having said that, I *do* get lots of comments demanding I "clean up my tab." So far none of those folks volunteered to do it and scan it so I could post it! :)
      It's always great to get a note from you Steve. You're among the many who appreciate the effort!

    • @stevedouglas7375
      @stevedouglas7375 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well said Mark and I'm sorry to learn that there are those who demand that you "clean up your tabs." Wow! Incredible. More and more people (especially on You Tube) not only want lessons for free, but they also want them to be perfect in every way. However, you do have a loyal and supportive group of followers that is growing and who appreciate you, so please try and stay as upbeat as you can. You do a great job!!

    If youre canadian you know this track, i say this because in canada there is canadian content law on radio airplay, they have to play so many mins of canadian artists an hour.
    ...so we heard this song at least twice a day for forty years....and it still rocks hard today !...

    • @MarkZabel

I first heard this song in a little club on west fourth avenue in Vancouver by maybe 40 years ago. Rohan’s! Lol lol was the name. I started playing guitar two years ago and now with this demo I will achieve it. Many warm saludos to you!!! Thanks for the gift( lesson). Abrazos!!

    Nice job! I grew up on this song along with some Loverboy songs, Chilliwack, Headpins, Heart etc. Vancouver and the Pacific Northwest in the day put out some great tunes. Thanks for this.

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My pleasure. I've got to do some Loverboy and Chilliwack, and of course more Heart. Maybe if you have some suggestions ... just not Magic Man. I don't want to tune my high E up so far and then bend. (Apparently Roger Fisher broke something like 10 strings doing it!)
