This is my uncle, jerry Doucette, sadly he passed away 😔 uncle jerry was one of my favourites, he taught me guitar, he showed me how to do everything music related, I’ll miss him forever. Glad to see people like his song tho!
OH I will never forget watching Jerry Doucette and Randy Bachman Jam this song at the bar in Vancouver back in the mid eighties. Many Canadians never realized what a treasure this music is!
@@grenda5 It's a pretty dim memory now....but there are lots of great musicians around now days still. And its fun to rock out on my guitar...LOL Tap her cool lion king!
Thanks for taking the time to post this. I'm picking up a lot from watching them. I got a late start in learning guitar at age 55. That was six years ago and i'm still at it. A little slow but not giving up. Your videos have been a great help. I'm rocking & rolling right into old age and loving it more each day. Making music is good for one's soul. Thanks and May the Good Lord Bless You.
Thanks Mark, another great lesson. When I first got serious about guitar I thought I could never play a tune like this, but with lessons like these, it is possible. :)
Mark you are amazing! I don't know where you dig up these long-buried gems. Haven't heard this song in 20 years. Cannot wait for the solo tutorial. Great work!
Thanks! In this case though, I dug it up because someone requested it! :) The solo is a toughie, so I'm working on it. Thanks for the great feedback. Always appreciated!
Mark, you are being too modest. You still need to break down the song, get the right tone and figure out how to teach it to the rest of us weekend warriors. . And we are very grateful! I agree with you that the solo tutorial will be a real challenge. It is wicked!
Hi Mark This takes me back to sitting on a flight from T.O to Edmonton in 76?? Thanks for posting another classic canadian rock tune. Maybe beyond my skills
Man mark this is Awesome ! I’d listen to this song growing up to a classic rock F M. Station K-SHE 95. . Not top forty but the real Rock where you could hear the vinyl . Great song ! Great lesson! He’s to young for the blues , he’s still in his first pair of shoes ! He’s just a baby ! Ha !
thanks Mark...great too see this one up! I am looking forward to the solo sections - there are a couple of areas that have always been somewhat of a mystery to me :n)
Hello mark This is a great lesson!! The solo can you help us old timers with little experience out!! It’s a crazy solo .. I know. Lol lol. Thanks for all your. Great teacher!!!
Thanks K.T. Yes, one of the greatest - virtually unknown in the USA - solos ever. What always trips me up is the multiple guitars at the end. Just when I more or less have the fast part down I get to the end and it's a mess. Then I stop playing it for a week and it's like I never knew it at all. Somehow the picking pattern is just foreign for me!
Hey Mark. Great lesson and very well done as always, You have a lot of talent at guitar playing as well as teaching. I sure wish you were my neighbor. Lol I have a request. I would be so thankful if you would do a lesson on Vince Gill's version of How Great Thou Art. I have never learned a full song but I would love for that to be my first. Only a little over two minutes. Lol. If I could learn it I just might could get enough nerve to play it at Church. Thanks again for the great lessons. You have a unique way of teaching that makes it easy to learn from you. The tabs are so helpful.
Hi Paul. Thanks so much for your kind words. I can do that, surely, but if you can give me a link to the version you'd like I'd be grateful. I've seen a few versions of his - all beautiful. So much is in the voice, but he's a first-class guitarist too.
Great lesson here, I don't think I'll need the solo lesson. I think it is beyond my level. That dude could burn up a guitar in that song. Good looking Ibanez!
Thanks. I think the genie is out of the bottle. A number of people have asked for this one, with the solo too. Very tough solo. Lots of work for a tune not very popular in the US ... but it's a great one, and I owe my Canadian friends one or two! (If only for the greatness of poutine! :)
Thanks! It's going to be a while, because it's a lot of work to memorize and the whole thing with 2 guitars at the end is hard to work out into a single part. I'm going to tackle it after the busy season at work. Probably around mid-June this year. I wish more Americans knew about this song. It's a great one, and an amazing solo!
@@rickb4806 I know. I have small hands too. You can try with only the 6th and 5th strings and use your first finger on 3rd fret of the 6th and 2nd finger on 5th fret of 5th string. Then the big stretch to the 7th with the pinky isn't so bad. That might help.

MOBIZOID Awesome! Would've loved to have been there.

Thanks Johnny! Never too late to start playing and enjoying music with yourself and others! Glad I can help in any way!
Fell in love with this song as a young man. Wore it out back in the day. Great to hear it again. Required learning so thanks for the lesson! :)
Yeah, it's a great song. Thanks for watching!
Mark Zabel you are a guitar god . Thank you ever so much. One of the best on youtube.
Lol, thanks! I'm glad you find the videos helpful, and I certainly appreciate the encouragement!
Thanks for this lesson. My band mate tossed this tune out at us and this was a great way to get up to speed quickly on it. Much appreciated!
Glad it helped!
Finally a lesson on this song. Thank you. An all time fave of my fro a fellow Canuck
Great song, eh? (That's my Windsor accent coming out.) Part 2 is coming. That's the tough part!
Thanks Mark, another great lesson. When I first got serious about guitar I thought I could never play a tune like this, but with lessons like these, it is possible. :)
Thanks Ray! Taking time is usually one of the biggest keys to doing it.
i realize Im kinda off topic but do anyone know a good site to watch newly released movies online ?

as always, awesome lesson Mark, thanks so much for sharing your great talent.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching.
What a fun song! Thanks for introducing me to it, Mark. Love it!
Yes, it's a neat song with a great intro riff and a great, great solo!
Wow. I have this on vinyl. I never thought I would see a tutorial on It! Thanks Mark!
Sure thing ... but don't thank me until part 2. I'm not looking forward to putting my fingers into knots with that solo! :)
Hi Mark

Wow! missed this comment for a while, huh? Thanks for the kind words. Wish I would've seen it earlier.

Thanks Doug! This song got limited airplay in the U.S. Not sure why, because it rocks, has funny lyrics, and a great hook.
thanks Mark...great too see this one up! I am looking forward to the solo sections - there are a couple of areas that have always been somewhat of a mystery to me :n)
Sure thing. I'll post the solo fairly soon ... hopefully. My fingers aren't as fast as they used to be! :)

Very cool! Thx.
You bet. Thanks for watching!

Thanks John! Appreciate it!
Mark, how about Breathless "Takin' It Back" its great like this song, and Journey's "Precious Time" Neal uses a 12 string, with a capo..
Thanks for the suggestions!
Any idea on the solo lesson release ? Great job, and very thorough lessons by the way !!

Cool Mark! How about John Mellencamp Play Guitar? Cool old tune.....
Thanks. I'll put it on the list.
How's the solo lesson looking? It will be fun!
Hi Keith. It hasn't come up in the list yet. I promise it will happen.
I just heard this in my car so i came here to learn it
Awesome! Hope the video is helpful for you. Thanks for watching.
Trying it now....holy crap, 3rd fret to 7th?! I have small hands!

Still waiting for the solo
Okay.
Could be just my lack of skill but this is a counterintuitive lick. Hard to get the timing right...
I agree, I think it's counter-intuitive also.
My last name is Zabel
Well alright!!
