- UK Railway FAST trains at Harpenden station, Midland Mainline, including Express and Regional Passenger trains in February 2022! 🏴
A Weekend Afternoon of Midland Mainline services at Harpenden, heading around the South of England, United Kingdom. Trains include:
- DC Rail Class 60s
- 60s - Built in 1989/1993
- East Midlands Railway Class 180s
- 180/1 - Built in 2000/01
- East Midlands Railway Meridian Class 222s
- 222/0 - Built in 2003/05 - Five or Seven Car Units
- East Midlands Railway Class 360s
- 360 - Built in 2002/03 - Transferred from Greater Anglia
- Thameslink Class 700s
- 700/0 - Built in 2014/18 - AC & DC - Eight Car Units
- 700/1 - Built in 2014/18 - AC & DC - Twelve Car Units

🚄 INFORMATION KEY
Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Multiple Units are 6 digit numbers where the first three numbers are the class of train e.g. 390154 would be a class 390. Click Here to learn more

Headcodes - e.g. 1F32 or 5M00 - These are used by the railway signallers to determine where trains are on the network. Every train within a region has a specific four code ID. Click Here to learn more

Set Number - e.g. WB64 or NL04 - These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.

The white/plum livery is growing on me. If they keep the 222s as clean as they seem in this video, they give off a beautiful purple/blue tint in the sunlight.
I'm amazed on how long some of those Class 700's are; to think you can fit the entire population of a small town in one of those trains. Nice video as always, congrats on 7k! You'll certainly get more in no time!

The Class 810 Aurora AT300s are expected to enter service next year that are replacing the Class 180 Adelante and Class 222 Meridian units. Plus Thameslink Class 700 trains will soon stop at Brent Cross West that is probably to be completed before the end of this year. Harpenden is just south of Luton Airport.

Harpenden railway station is on the Midland Main Line in England, serving the town of Harpenden, Hertfordshire. It is 24 miles 51 chains down the line from London St Pancras and is situated between St Albans City to the south and Luton Airport Parkway to the north. Its three-letter station code is HPD.
The station is served by Govia Thameslink-operated trains on the Thameslink route.

Thanks Ben. Those are both solid reasons why I don't really visit the Midland Mainline anymore. With the exception of the 360s, everything else is visible elsewhere. The 700s are literally everywhere!

Great location & video 😎👍🏽 Those 222 Meridians will soon be a thing of the past on the MML as the 810’s edge ever nearer 😯🤔👍🏽
Not a moment to soon either, the Meridians are my favourite Voyager variant but they’ve been ran into the ground since EMT. EMR also don’t currently offer any catering on board trains (not even a trolley)
@@StarlifeStudios thats a poor show/offering from EMR 😟💩I was Speaking to a XC driver 2 weeks ago in Exeter and rumours are (just talk at the moment) in the XC camp that the 222’s will be going to XC when the EMR 810’s are up and running mid to late 2023 🤔 We’ll have to wait and see if that evolves because as it stands 222’s are not software compatible with the current XC voyager 220/221 fleet, but there again they could be run as a separate class for XC as everything is unit based now. If they do come across to XC along with the 18 Avanti 221’s then that will probably spell the end for the XC HST’s and 170 Turbostars 😯😟 watch this space 👀👍🏽

Could you do St Albans City since it's the station before Harpenden?
Plus how will you record other videos since there's a big rail strike across UK?
The strikes are causing me (and everyone else) a lot of pain. I will be recording between them but this is easier said than done. I have a lot of video backlog so I am prepared. 😃

11:00 oh my i remember 700001 ive seen that lots of times and had a ride on it to. always think that train is sort of weird it makes me think its the very first one lol.
Thanks itzdoctordavidplays, the irony is that the first 700 (700106) was delivered in July 2015 and it wouldn't be for at least another year before 700001 was delivered!

Why dose it take like 4 months to upload a new video?
It doesn’t, I could actually produce and publish a video in less than 2 hours but I choose to save my videoes. I’ve found that the date the video was created and published doesn’t seem to matter that much. Most of my viewers prefer upload consistency over being recent. Quick question, why do the Thameslink trains have a higher headcode priority than the fast EMR trains?

Hi Tom, Thameslink use 9 headcodes to distinguish themselves from other operators and to make it easier for signallers to route them the correct way. On National Rail, 9s actually don’t command any extra priority than 1s or 2s. Thanks for being apart of the journey 😃
