  • Hello and welcome to this video which is from Harpenden located on the Midland Mainline between St Albans City and Luton Airport Parkway.
I found Harpenden to be a pretty decent station to spot at for roughly an hour or so. The station has some decent views, mostly towards the south where you can see Thameslink trains cross over to the fast lines or vice versa, but the frequency is fantastic with multiple Thameslink services stopping and all EMR services speeding right through. The range of traction is okay for what the MML is today with all Thameslink services run by Class 700 and EMR trains operated by either Class 222's or 43's. I did see a rare sight of an 8-coach HST set worked by a 43/0 and a 43/4 on the rear. I also saw a GBRf freight service hauled by a Class 66, 66766, working 6M79 Angerstein Wharf - Bardon Hill.
    Includes:
    Thameslink:
    - Class 700's
    East Midlands Railway:
    - Class 43's
    - Class 222's
    GBRf:
    - Class 66
