That multi string tapping thrill was some bonkers stuff, along with the whole thing and actually the next clip showing his hands making some fuckin' gymnastics, i agree
Came to say that too. This song is simply beautiful and it's "just" one of the many masterpieces Andy produced. I wonder what he's up to today. Time for some research i guess.
Came here for the same. I heard those notes and my life went full circle and ripped a hole in the time-space continuum. I haven't heard Andy in YEARS and best believe my k-hole is set for the night.
Im still in awe of how the Jason Becker stuff still holds up even today. It has that Bach, Mozart longevity and quality feel to it compared to other shredders.
3:21 that's Jason Becker's "Numbers" guitar, probably his most recognisable guitar. They auctioned it off to help with the costs for his medical care (he has ALS and can pretty much only do facial movements now). Jason Richardson was playing it during that time to get people talking about the auction. Well, more than they already were, Becker is a legend after all. The three guitars they put up for auction got sold for 230k in the end
I think they're a preset in his new VST, I haven't checked it out yet though, I use the Archetype: Petrucci VST Edit: though I guess this answer only counts if you play guitar through a DAW and not an actual amp.
4:00 I bought the p00mbachu tabs and I have never, IN MY LIFE, been so called out before, I’ve stared, and stared, and stared for hours now and I don’t understand which guitar is the lead even though it’s labeled
I have the same thoughts when I watch you play Nik. I have been playing guitar for a lot longer than you and you make me feel like an amateur. It is all a matter of perspective. I have great respect fir anyone who commits to mastering their instruments the way you guys have (on all the levels). I think Jason would even give John Petrucci doubts in his ability (and I love JP). Lol 😃🙏🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I was gonna say something similar about Petrucci, but he's inherently grounded and just incredible person. He understands the point of being a musician better than so many other great players. You can't put doubt in his ability, as you can't put it in Jason head. They're from different planets, so to speak. Only one that can actually put doubt into just about everyone is Guthrie Govan, but he's not gonna lol
Nik, your that good man I know you're capable of doing a Jason Richardson cover or Tim Henson . The funny thing is when I watch you play I react the same way you don't give yourself enough credit man your really good
Not gonna lie, wasn't expecting him to do an Andy McKee cover. Hearing Rylynn opened my brain into the idea thag acoustic guitar was way more versatile than I thought.
Jason Richardson is literally the definition and epitome of nature and nurture Absolutely born to do it and phenomenally gifted both technicality and musically I think as a whole package, he is unmatched
the thing I love the most about Jason's playing is the impressive and godlike precision in picking. You can hear every single note even when they are as fast as light. That right hand should be considered like HACKING and CHEATING.
Jason was light years ahead of the other members of Born of Osiris and he really carried the musicianship of that band to a level that the OG members could never recreate. Lets talk about it for real...
That glitch thing is what Michael Romeo does, he would demonstrate a solo slowly and in there would be a short burst of notes that's insanely fast even at the slower tempo, and all the notes are still there when he plays it fast, it's just a "oh fuck off" at that point
Just got into the vast world of guitar playing. Seeing all of these videos and listening to all of these great guitarists makes me want to pick up the guitar myself.
Was glad to see the Luigi stuff...most of the time, from what I've watched, Jason seems like such a serious dude. Does the heart good to see him clownin'...
"Homie is a janitor...making sure everything is clean" "That's like Pebto Bismol..it's giving you the runs" How the fuck does he come up with shit like this? .. like c'mon...
The hippy forest shit was him covering Andy Mckee's "Rylynn". Andy was one of the original crazy guitarists on youtube, pales in comparison nowadays but whenever I really want chill vibes I visit his stuff. He's the ole' goat
Im so intrigued by Jason Richardson . Not just with his guitar skills , but how his brain works and many other stuff I have questions about. He's very interesting human being
Humble ahh Nik your an amazing Guitarist as well 😂You remind me of me back in the 2010s (early 20s) I would play literal arpeggios from hell and People would say "wow your amazing!" I would respond with "yeah I'm alright but thank you"
Yo your video title is just hilarious bro because I very much know of Jason Richardson I even Attempted to try one of his signature guitars out which are unavailable in local guitar stores anyways point being your title man it’s hilarious because that man is really really fast they playing he’s from the band all that remains anyway that’s not the point the other point is I’m not going to quit Guitar but he does inspire me😩👌
There’s no way I’m ever gonna play as technically insane as Jason but his music is definitely inspiring to try and be as good as I can be and I’m actually really fucking cool with that. Love Jason and u Nik 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Wtfqq, I just thought of an old video by you Nick and then I got a notification about that you had uploaded a new video when I looked at my lock Screen!😂
Jason has said previously that if it wasn't for Dream Theater's Train of Thought album (2003) then he wouldn't be the player he is today and I'm the same way. I'm nowhere near as good as Jason but that album was by far the most influential during my early years of playing guitar.
I hope I'm not ostracizing myself here (because I'm not sure how Nik or his fan base feels about it), but what about Charles from "Berried Alive?" Dude is sick. I'd love to see he and Jason do a collaboration.
FUN FACT: "Project Jason Richardson" is a next-gen software program by ILM. The voice acting is done by Oscar winner Octavia Spencer. That woman has so much range.
I got to start trying to play something besides slipknot riffs and something harder soon… I just don’t know what to do really besides just look at more tabs
Why won’t you review immortal disfigurement ? Did you tell will Ramos and Lorna shore that you’d ignore CJs new project and just cover more Lorna shore ? O
Dude every time I watch Jason Richardson play, I just want to take my guitar out to the dumpster lmao. I had the please of shaking his hand (and Luke's) a few years back. They both said "just keep practicing"
*He fast*
Hardly.
Nik, you're a living dictionary.
Acoustic Jason covering Andy Mckee is what the world needs right now. 4:04
You should check Stephen Taranto. I think he's even faster and cleaner.
He fast
You've quit guitar so many times now that I'm surprised this channel is still going
Jajajaja 😄
r/youbeatmetoit
Strictly a reaction channel now
He's quit guitar more times than I've vowed to stop buying project cars to work on. Quitters never win. 🤣
@@FWDSUXARSE i feel this in my soul
Jason playing Jason Becker's numbers guitar is insane. He did a good job of playing Nick Jonas' solo too lmao.
That Nick Jonas cover is the best video he’s ever released
Jason Becker commented on that video too.
Jason Richardson is our Jason Becker.
Well yeah he played Jason Becker’s Serrana great, but that Nick Jonas solo could use some improvement, it was too clean
I'm convinced that Jason watches his own hands to try and figure out what the fuck they're doing.
That multi string tapping thrill was some bonkers stuff, along with the whole thing
and actually the next clip showing his hands making some fuckin' gymnastics, i agree
lolololooolll
Lmao!
jason doesn't follow a metronome, the metronome follows jason
Facts
The metronome tries to follow him instead
The acoustic part @4:03 is a cover of 'Rylynn' by Andy McKee, another one of the greatest guitarists ever!
Also came here for same. Love McKee
Same here. Reminded me of this great musician, whose songs I didn't hear for many years. What a moment! Brings a tear to the eye.
Im still in awe of how the Jason Becker stuff still holds up even today. It has that Bach, Mozart longevity and quality feel to it compared to other shredders.
Yeah. Sadly we didn't get to see his full potential.
3:21 that's Jason Becker's "Numbers" guitar, probably his most recognisable guitar. 3:37 yooo my boy Jason is playing Botw Riding theme on gutair! That's soo dope 😃
He's not even sweeping anymore this is called vacuuming!! Need those Sparrow tones !!!!!
I think they're a preset in his new VST, I haven't checked it out yet though, I use the Archetype: Petrucci VST
Edit: though I guess this answer only counts if you play guitar through a DAW and not an actual amp.
Jason Richardsons fingers are considered shredly weapons.
I have absolutely purchased tab books with no intention of actually learning them. Just love seeing how they play it.
Nik is my comfort youtuber nowadays and him posting a new video heals my heart
Fr
yeah, me too. Thanks, I guess
His displays of disbelief are the best on TH-cam and would make a good character in a movie (comedy of course).
I'm so happy Jason paid homage to the god of sweeps and alternate pickings and the founder of thumping, Mr. Nick Jonas.
This hurts because Ive been playing 15 years and then watch nik play and I want to quit. Then I see nik watch Jason and its like the same thing lol
same for me. compared to Nik i am a beginner even though i've been playing since 2000 (well i took 10 years off, but still)
4:00 I bought the p00mbachu tabs and I have never, IN MY LIFE, been so called out before, I’ve stared, and stared, and stared for hours now and I don’t understand which guitar is the lead even though it’s labeled

Nik, your that good man I know you're capable of doing a Jason Richardson cover or Tim Henson . The funny thing is when I watch you play I react the same way you don't give yourself enough credit man your really good
yes, this is very encouraging.. i manage to encourage myself to play a triangle instead, bcause no way i could get that good..
Not gonna lie, wasn't expecting him to do an Andy McKee cover. Hearing Rylynn opened my brain into the idea thag acoustic guitar was way more versatile than I thought.
Jason is a god , but Nik you are a badass guitar player too ! Thanks for the video sir !
I'm a drummer and this is how I feel every time I watch Matt Garstka. We'll never be as good as them yet we keep trying anyway.
Matt garstka is the first drummer that made me feel the importance of rythm as a guitarist. Matt is da goat
This one is simply absurd. Adding insult to injury he plays it very calm.
Jason is absolutely super-human. I've seriously contemplated sending ALL of my gear to him on multiple occasions... _I'm not worthy._
Jason played for my biggest loved and dead music metal Band, ever. RiP ❤ All Shall Perish
Jason Richardson is literally the definition and epitome of nature and nurture
Absolutely born to do it and phenomenally gifted both technicality and musically
I think as a whole package, he is unmatched

his right hand articulation and muting is just so fucking fantastic it was even amazing to see him live
That glitch thing is what Michael Romeo does, he would demonstrate a solo slowly and in there would be a short burst of notes that's insanely fast even at the slower tempo, and all the notes are still there when he plays it fast, it's just a "oh fuck off" at that point
i actually remember him from ALL SHALL PERISH
That acoustic song is Rylnn by Andy McKee!!!! Dude that's dope!!! Check out his stuff if you haven't before!
I own the tab book for his first album and I can confirm, all you can really do is stare at them 🤣
Buyer's remorse intensifies 😅
You look up and you're permanently cross eyed, lmao.
Just got into the vast world of guitar playing. Seeing all of these videos and listening to all of these great guitarists makes me want to pick up the guitar myself.
I was impressed to see that Jason knew who Andy McKee was. Andy is a mind blowing acoustic guitarist. Every metal player should check him out.
First melody is Lost Not Forgotten by Dream Theater
The insane string skipping video where he’s playing the riding theme from Zelda at like 3:38ish is actually my ringtone haha
Jason makes his solos so unique that the usual scale patterns do not apply. It is those unusual shapes
YOOO, that acoustic piece was actually a cover from an Andy Mckee song called For My Father. That song is gorgeous.
Was glad to see the Luigi stuff...most of the time, from what I've watched, Jason seems like such a serious dude. Does the heart good to see him clownin'...
...I feel like Jason does that on a weekly basis
Keep up the great content 🤟
I think that 'glitch' was pulling the string off the side of the fretboard. Vai does this sometimes too
It's always a good day when nik posts
"Homie is a janitor...making sure everything is clean"
"That's like Pebto Bismol..it's giving you the runs"
How the fuck does he come up with shit like this? .. like c'mon...
The hippy forest shit was him covering Andy Mckee's "Rylynn". Andy was one of the original crazy guitarists on youtube, pales in comparison nowadays but whenever I really want chill vibes I visit his stuff. He's the ole' goat
Dude your warped expression of self disdain at exactly 3:00 made me 💀
Im so intrigued by Jason Richardson . Not just with his guitar skills , but how his brain works and many other stuff I have questions about. He's very interesting human being
i love these types of videos
Humble ahh Nik your an amazing Guitarist as well 😂You remind me of me back in the 2010s (early 20s) I would play literal arpeggios from hell and People would say "wow your amazing!" I would respond with "yeah I'm alright but thank you"

4:05 Andy Mckee stan here.. that shit was fuego 👌
You should check out Sebastiside
These videos always get me messing with my guitar for an hour
There’s no way I’m ever gonna play as technically insane as Jason but his music is definitely inspiring to try and be as good as I can be and I’m actually really fucking cool with that. Love Jason and u Nik 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
That second (of the same) Jason Becker cover is with the actual Jason Becker guitar (don't know if the original one, buuuut it looks like it)
Wtfqq, I just thought of an old video by you Nick and then I got a notification about that you had uploaded a new video when I looked at my lock Screen!😂
4:03 the man, the myth, the legend. Andy McKee.
Saw this video's title and I was like "I wonder if this is about Jason Richardson"
.....yep.
Nik cracks me up. We know he can play all of this.
That richardson cover of Andy Mckee acoustic was so good.
Remember that Futurama episode when Fry got the Devil's hands? Thats Jason IRL
Jason has said previously that if it wasn't for Dream Theater's Train of Thought album (2003) then he wouldn't be the player he is today and I'm the same way. I'm nowhere near as good as Jason but that album was by far the most influential during my early years of playing guitar.
love the late 2000s era candyrat acoustic
JR is absolutely fucking nuts. Can’t wait to hear the new ATR tunes.
Has Nik done a video on Jacky Vincent? Dudes insane!
His fingers are like turrets, with multiple machine guns coming out of them, shooting the strings.
I hope I'm not ostracizing myself here (because I'm not sure how Nik or his fan base feels about it), but what about Charles from "Berried Alive?" Dude is sick. I'd love to see he and Jason do a collaboration.
Jason's the only person that's aloud to pull out an acoustic while siting around a fire, can you imagine his version of Wonderwall.
Oh damn... I gotta find that acoustic cover of Rylynn by Andy McKee
Make a video about Lucas Mann. He is too powerful! I can't imagine what a guitar battle between Lucas and Jason would look or sound like.🤯
i love these guitarist reactions do the doo please that would be sick
New Slaughter to prevail reaction coming? 😉
Sheeeeeeshh Nik.
FUN FACT: "Project Jason Richardson" is a next-gen software program by ILM. The voice acting is done by Oscar winner Octavia Spencer. That woman has so much range.
You should see bernth and his modular picking. Itl blow ur mind
Jason is a beast....no other word to describe....
Yo do the same kind of video with Brandon Ellis' videos!
AT 4:00 I LAUGHED SO HARD I DROOLED ON MY PHONE AND IT MADE ME LAUGH HARDER😭😭
Jason Richardson VS Rusty Cooley. Who shreds harder?
Do I get inspired and learn guitar or something or jsut give up?
I got to start trying to play something besides slipknot riffs and something harder soon… I just don’t know what to do really besides just look at more tabs
Yeah…Jason is god. Was really cool seeing him with All That Remains (even though it wasn’t his work)…so clean.
He's marveling on every shit like he's seing playing like this for first time
How have I only just heard of this guy?
That Pepto joke had me dyin lol
I might be able to cover that Nick Jonas solo. I can't pull off that Luigi costume though
the janitor joke was fire
My life is so simple
I see Jason Richardson notification, i liked
I cant believe he was playing Andy McKee with the acoustic
Nik is badass at guitar too
Yup I know that feeling bro 🤦 Jason is insanely good 💪
Well what were you expecting
Why won’t you review immortal disfigurement ? Did you tell will Ramos and Lorna shore that you’d ignore CJs new project and just cover more Lorna shore ? O
Dude every time I watch Jason Richardson play, I just want to take my guitar out to the dumpster lmao. I had the please of shaking his hand (and Luke's) a few years back. They both said "just keep practicing"
Nik where is the new slipknot cover
Why I get no notifications for stream today. Also why isn’t it up ? Does it take a little bit before the stream gets uploaded ?
God hearing Andy McKee again made me so happy
TERMINA Ft. Jason Richardson
TERMINA Ft. Tosin Abasi
😃
As someone who has bought JR tabs, yes you do just stare at them mostly
4:39 What makes you think he was doing that for fun
