As spotted by IGN, everything is working as intended for PlayStation users with a purchased version of Fallout 4 tied to their PSN accounts - they're able to access the free PS5 upgrade as expected - but those with the PlayStation Plus version in their libraries are not, and are instead seeing the PS5 edition listed at £15.99. That's in notable contrast to Xbox Game Pass, where subscribers are able to access the native Xbox Series X/S version of Fallout 4 from today.
It's currently unclear if this is an intentional move on the Microsoft-owned Bethesda's part or if it's merely an unforeseen quirk of Sony's PlayStation Plus set-up; a Bethesda representative told users on Discord they were "still looking into" whether the free PS5 upgrade should be available to PS Plus subscribers, and Eurogamer has reached out to Bethesda for clarity on the situation.
Alongside the native versions of Fallout 4 for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 - which introduce Performance and Quality mode settings, support for 60fps and higher resolutions, plus stability improvements and fixes - today's free update adds a range of new features to the PC and previous-gen console versions.

Sony has presented a patent that could be implemented to create an AI-driven system that would allow players to skip game segments using an “Automatic Game Mode”.

Hopefully they at least lock the boss related trophies that you auto-beat.
I highly doubt they will let trophies be active in this mode.

@@reckon7457 I also have VR for PS4 and most games on that don't play on VR2 so i kind of need my PS4 Pro. I actually got the Pro because i wanted VR to perform as good as possible.
Also the difference on fps etc between the Pro and PS5 are even smaller than the normal PS4.
I'm 65 years old and even playing Elden Ring, I do NOT want any help. I'd rather spend 10 hours (though it's never happened) beating any certain part of a game I'm playing. I never even wanted one of those Game Genies for those older systems. I totally agree with your, "Why play video games, if you don't wanna play video games", comment. That being said, if people spend money on a game, that is totally their business, and they can knock themselves out if they want to skip an area or boss so they can brag on the internet.

If you want the console to beat the game for you.... Just watch it. Don't make it possible to more or less take the easy way out of something. Suck away the fact that you earned that you beat that thing you were stuck on...the Valk queen in GoW 2018 was like the toughest thing in a game I ever did. When I beat it I felt great. I would never want that to be gone...
This!!!! That’s the point of boss fights. It’s not supposed to be easy. This is definitely a horrible AI Feature to add to the console.

I have Fallout 4 that I claimed through the PlayStation Plus collection, pretty sure they patched this because it's now available as the PS5 version.

Don't pretend like having to pay for a next-gen upgrade is just blamed on Xbox. That topic was a major reason I bought a series X before a PS5. 90% of next-gen upgrades are free on Xbox; that's not just a game pass thing.

I've never owned fallout 4, but when the update dropped I was able to download the ps5 version and play it no problem. When the update first dropped I had an issue though. I had to ps4 version installed on my ps5, and thought maybe I was mistaken. Then I said "oh yeah, I gotta download the ps5 version". It works for me so I'm not sure if I'm just special or what lol.

Ngl I do sometimes genuinely get stuck on a boss and quit the game because of it after months of trying to beat it. Often because it's an older game where I've locked myself into the battle without enough items, gear, etc, and there's no way to go back.
Sometimes my nearest save was hours ago, and I just don't wanna do it all over again, so yeah I can see the AI feature being useful for people who want to just get past a battle they're stuck on and continue the story.
sony: Journalist get the their journalist mode (play the game for you) now and they will still say this games is to hard . when a more easy play the game

I previously had the ps4 disk, but no longer have it. I have the ps plus version on my ps5, initially I only had a ps4 upgrade option. After upgrading the ps4 version, the ps5 version became available.
It's a kinda cool feature to have the station play your games, but.
The games I buy are for me, not for my machine to play. That's the conflicting part for me. 😅

It's like F1 for me I've played for years and only recently I've been able to play at the hardest setting with practice and when I was able to finnaly win a race in the hardest setting I was well chuffed it got my mood so high
not that i am for AI playing the game for me. but i literally had to get my stepson to do the guitar hero section on the 1st south park game. i have wrecked hands and i even mostly play on story mode . but i could not do that section.

You are right Jimmy, on beating that boss on your own. I will admit that it took me 78 tries to get through the level beating Clayface while playing the game Gotham Nights, on the final level on the P.S.5. I went to bed the night before pissed got up next morning told my self I am going to beat this and did first try..I actually felt better.

The play for me feature would be interesting because you could set up some epic fights. I would love to send an AI Leon Kennedy to fight the dude in the Barn with only a knife equipped, just to see what would happen.

I just bought and played Jedi Survior. The game still crashed about 10 times more times in one play through. Put 35 hours into Stellar blade and haven’t had one glitch or crash. Very confusing how Stellar Blade is 4 times smaller and still feels better than Jedi Survior to me.

I just finally put my PS4 Pro away last month April 2024. Now it's May and I downloaded my PS4 saves from the PS cloud service to my PS5. So now when I want to play an old PS4 game, I play it on my slim PS5 disc console. The upgrades aren't big at all. If anything you get a more stable 60 fps on games and that's it. But overall it's better to play PS4 games on PS5 because it makes the frame rates more stable at 60 fps or 30 fps for some older games.

I have the PS4 Pro and I can honestly say that I never felt the urge/want for the PS5 for one because I knew “hey, at some point I’m sure they’ll have a PS5 Pro version” and 2, to me, it’s not a night and day difference in graphics and I don’t really miss out on the games I want. Now that the new Pro is coming out I’ll for sure get it if it’s worth it!
Fallout 4 on the ps5 was phenomenal. Those loading times made the platinum a 💨
About the fallout upgrade. If you would have looked you would have seen that Sony added the free ps upgrade for fallout as well now. Happened literally a day after the controversy of release day.

This is old news right? the free upgrade is available on psplus like a day after release. They already acknowledged that it was a bug, it's supposed to be free anywhere where you have access to fallout 4

One last thing if they're going to make a new subscription model for backwards compatible games and they're going to host them all games have to have online functionality that the original games had no exceptions.
I would absolutely use the ai bot for games that I don’t have time to play, not for things like difficult areas I don’t want to deal with. A perfect example for me would be death stranding. I’d love to just put the game on auto pilot. I would see it as the same thing as watching a let’s play, or walkthrough of a game, but natively on my console instead of the crappy TH-cam version.

5/2/24 Good review, still playing on my Sony PS4, PS 3 have a lot of money and time. invested in games that are still playable again in 2024, plus for someone on a limited budget you can purchase a used PS3 or 4 with a bunch of good games used for a whole lot less than a PS5. If Sony would do what Xbox X Live has done with backward compatible emulations of great ps3/4 games you see a lot more finding it worth upgrading to a PS5 /Pro, but for now I have so many great old games to replay and only so much free time to play them I'll be happy playing them again on what I own. Great graphics and higher frame rates are nice, but the games library is a whole lot thinner on games that i want to play on a PS5 that I can still find a PS 4 version to play on. Some of the best games challenges I played years back were on a Commodore 64 or a Gateway 2000 Win PC like several versions Doom and Tomb Raiders series even thou the graphics weren't as great. Love long older game systems and games for the next generation of Gamers. Oh, I also own a Xbox 360, one and Xbox X and find the same results of what i have said about the Sony PS, Xbox X at least can play more backward compatible Xbox 360 / Xbox One games.

It shouldn't be made possible for console AI to literally beat the game for you without even picking up the control pad. I just beat the second Abomination boss fight on Marvel's Avengers and i collapsed after finally getting the better of him! You can't beat that feeling of satisfaction!

I can’t remember what game it was but I was struggling to beat a big boss character and later the game glitched (I think) and I was able to skip it. I was very disappointed and some other empty feeling. And I couldn’t go back and I had already advanced a lot so I didn’t want to start over and I wasn’t sure what happened and I can’t remember the game.
We need a ps console where we can play both disc and digital versions of games we purchased ranging from ps1 to up until now

I think Sony and Microsoft should implement a system where of the we want to continue to play old backwards compatible games we just pay an extra $5 and then we can play our old backwards compatible games online forever that way it pays for the hosting services
Just wanted to let you all know that I have a ps5 and was able to get the updated version without paying anything for it not sure if they just fixed it or what all i had to do was delete the ps4 version and redownload it in the ps5 version and viola it was downloaded with the next gen update for free!

I don't mind if the game plays itself... but not if trophies pop in the process. Alot of trophies are for bragging rights...wouldn't be a point to them if it's just given to you.

And the thing you said about the PS5 beating the game for you maybe I can use it on Final Fantasy VII rebirth to beat the three side missions that are impossible to beat and they are the setup sidequest the third round robot battle and the third round board game battles I've tried each three of these side quests hundreds of times and I just can't get through them
