It is called the Naparima Bowl. It is a theatre with an amphitheatre. The whole building is built 'upside down', first and only building of it's kind. Major achitectural build in San Fernando at the time. My wedding was held there in 1977.
The Spanish were in Trinidad before the English. The Spanish named Trinidad and its towns. The Caribs and Arrowaks didn’t speak Spanish.

It's good you are venturing to the Caribbean, African diaspora. More Africans need to know there are countries with many black people besides Africa. Congratulations on your new perspective. I am tired of Africans showing only Europe like if there is gold there only.
Only about 50% of Trinidad is of the African diaspora. They tend to live in the city environs so it looks more than the other peoples who live there.
In reality, there are more non Africans living in Trinidad than Africans. Tobago is mostly those of African descent though.

AF. Glad to see you made it to T&T. It would be lovely to go to Tobago. It's rustic and natural...Only about 20K population I believe; so you would not be overcrowded, and you will have easy access to beaches...Enjoy your Caribbean adventure...we know it ain't cheap....lol.

I'm not sure how long your driver has been a Trinidadian, but Rice like sugarcane was introduced to Trinidad after Cocoa. Cocoa is a product of the tropical rainforest, cultivated by the indigenous or Amerindian peoples of Trinidad.
Tobago population is about 50,000 to 60,000 not 200, 000 as he said. Carib and arawaks are not Spanish, they are the indigenous people of Trinidad

This was very interesting because I spent three month there in 1977. I stayed at a Hotel in Maraval and I remember The Hilton. The place looked very different then but I still remember the slang. The population was about a million then and I would have expected a lot more residents now.

You could see venezeula best from maquerepe bay, it’s almost like you could touch the mountains.
When you passed Queen's Royal College, there were six other buildings. They are known as "The Magnificent Seven". These buildings are part of our history. Each building has a name.
The ferry takes approximately three hours back in the day it was about 10-12 hrs.
The website says Cabo Star takes 6 -7 hours but others ferries take 3-4 hours

Hope your time here is a really really beautiful one and won't be your last. One thing tho , what the gentle man is telling you about loosing your stuff is a bit extreme. You won't loose your stuff in a vehicle in broad daylight like that. Even if you are walking with your stuff in your bag you are good, trust me

So the gentleman...me...has been dealing with crimes for almost 27 years. It's nothing to hide It's facts...unless you want to be reminded of how many people lost their belongings right in traffic at the lighthouse. You may not be aware of the truth of our streets. That's where experience come in.
