    Vindicating to see someone talk about this without calling Alvis a Blade or something, phew
    Jokes aside this was well put together. It has long been observable that Alvis/Ontos has acted as the "ego," of whichever trinity they become attached to, so having FR confirm and explore that further, coupled with the inclusion of A as Ontos's chance to truly walk hand-in-hand with others as a human just as Pneuma and Logos were able to in their own ways in XC2, was really great I thought.

    • @danielrusk9761

      Than I take it that Logos is the id and neuma is the superego

    • @Ketagcn
      @Ketagcn ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@danielrusk9761 Yup, Mythra and Malos can even be seen as representing those in XC2, with Mythra/Pyra coming to terms with their guilt/morality and Malos struggling against the deep-seated desires that he inherited from Amalthus
      Theres also something really fun to be said about Ontos/Alpha regressing from a representation of the Monad in XC1 to yet another Demiurge in FR, with the key difference being that Alpha doesn't have access to the Superego or Id, he is fundamentally less human than Alvis was before, and thus has lost his "pneuma."

    along with zanza and meyneth taking the roles in the trinity processor, Alvis also was able to remain stable due to having klaus's lingering regrets. Obv not strictly an Alvis analysis but it's cool to think not only was he conforming to his role, he himself wanted to try and help lead the world to a better world which really lines up with his actions in xc1 like giving shulk an even playing field and teaching shulk to use the monado to mold him into a more suitable input.

    I’d like to point out that in the original Japanese script for xenoblade 2, when Klaus says the line “Ontos *triggered* a space time transition event”, the Japanese script uses the word “Vanish” when referring to Ontos’s departure. Meaning that he didn’t Trigger the space time transition event, only vanished because of it. The space time transition event was likely caused my Klaus activating the conduit, and Ontos being the arbiter of the trinity, was swallowed into the other half of the universe Klaus created by activating the conduit. Pnuema and Logos are meant to represent the Anima and Animus, I theorize that when ontos vanished into the xenoblade 1 world, he grabbed Klaus’s Animus and Galeas anima to act as the 2nd and 3rd opinions he needs.
    5:50 I think that the origin metal/gear/shard just holds *a* soul/memory of a person who was optimistic about the original Origin plan, as melia says, the ouroboros stones and Lucky 7 take their shape from the data in the queens “keys” (Melias heart and Nias core crystal) and the side of origin that possessed the people who had faith in the original plan to revive the worlds. I think Pyra and Mythras souls or maybe just their data, is inside of Nias core crystal, given how she can create these sort of pseudo Aegis blades that un coincidentally glow the color green. Good vudeo

    One thing I like that they added to FR is the "eye" to the Ontos core to look much closer to the Zohar.

    wow, that's the first time I understand the trinity processor. I finally get it. your explanation was so clear and logical. I particularly love the fact that N's acceptance and fusion with Noah fits both narratives, the ouroboros v. Moebius narrative, as well as the Logos v. Pneuma narrative. thank you for bringing these considerations into a new light, otherwise I would have never understood, and would still feel like i'm missing something.

    Something I had been thinking about for a while and couldn't wrap my head around was how Pneuma and Logos had so much power in Aionios when the Conduit had gone bye-bye, and Klaus telling Pneuma that she would lose those powers, assuming Klaus is right here. I understood where Ontos' power came from as the arbiter and blueprint for Origin, but I think it's only now after watching this video that my theory I can accept is that since Ontos requires the decision input from Pneuma and Logos, by that connection energy and power is being received by Pneuma and Logos from Ontos to be able to make that decision, and that's what resulted in the Ouroboros and Moebius powers.
    Thanks so much for making this video! It was extremely clear and helped clean up some of my mistaken thoughts about things and ties it all together, subscribed :)

    It’s so cool to think about how these two sides stayed in the fight this whole time, too.
    Logos/Moebius, they who fear the future and stay in the endless now, stay in the fight because they themselves are literally the ones who stay in the fight. They don’t die. They are eternal; the moebius strip goes in a loop with no beginnings or ends.
    Meanwhile, Pneuma/Ouroboros stay in the fight by passing things down throughout the generations. They look to the future and build it themselves. The snakes do indeed consume one another, signifying that time is indeed marching on and has a beginning and end, yet it still carries on forever.

    Thanks to your work I can finally feel satisfied about this conclusion. I liked Xeno 3 but the base game had too much unresolved questions, while the DLC felt too hasty. With your essay in mind I can definetly appreciate a lot better the Xeno 3 experience as a whole. I only wished they could have put a trowaway line in the DLC to explain how the presence of the other two aegis worked, like something among the lines: "As both worlds where created and sustained by the trinity processor, even if the physical Logos has been destroyed in Xeno 2 his will is still alive and cannot be replaced if both Pneuma and Ontos still exists, since that would result in the collapsing of the reality. When he was destroyed he became a part of the whole universe and found a way to manifest himself in a concrete form only when the emotions of the entire population of both worlds where so strong and united that they express the same desire out of the fear of death: "The endless now", that will cause the creation of the Moebius. Also the new Noah and Mio reborn after N and M regret are caused by the connection M had with Queen Nia and consequently the Pneuma core that resonated with the will of change of M." That would have painted the trinity processor in a more neutral way but still interested in the well being of the humans, with Logos prioritaizing to the desire of humanity as a whole and Pneuma prefering the hope of a few humans that would lead the popolation.
    Edit: Also, at the end of Xeno 2 the Pneuma core was never awaken, she just recreated Pyra and Mythra as "normal" blades to respond to the hope of Rex as a way to thank him and his gfs for giving their world a future, while the core herself got afk and wandered the world of Xeno 2 and then 3 in her physical form. You have to keep in mind that there is no way otherwise for Pyra and Mythra to be awakened as blades from the Pneuma core from Rex as they took their original personality from Adam, not Rex, and even then they would have not mainteined their original memories once awoken again.

    Great analysis! I'd also like to add my own interpretation on Logos/Pneuma in 3. I feel like its useful to not only consider Moebius and Ouroboros as factions, but concepts which are not necessarily good or bad. The concept of Moebius is looking towards the past to try to secure a safe present, while Ouroboros is risking the status quo to , for better or for worse, secure a desired future. The faction of Moebius are doomed to disappear as they only accept the concept of PURE moebius(this is seen the most in N who says he is unable to change his path and is destined to keep only serving the eternal now). They are shackled by Z's will(Note how Y stated every Moebius is an avatar of Z, the part of Ontos that panders to those who wish to preserve the now). The founders and later the main game's party reject PURE Ouroboros(the founders by rejecting Alpha, the avatar of the part of Ontos that panders to the people who are okay with completely discarding the present world and sacrificing the people of their world who make up the present ) I don't think Noah and gang could restart Origin because Noah and Mio had N and M in them, as N and M "died" fighting Z, but because they, after witnessing both the horrors of the past and the good and bad sides of the present which could cease to exist by restarting origin, STILL want to move forwards. It also helps that throughout the game they empathise with people from different backgrounds who gain or lose from maintaining the status quo. The concept of Moebius exists in every person and they work to soothe the anxieties of the general populace to tip the scales of the world to a balance between Ouroboros and Moebius, Logos and Pneuma(by freeing different colonies and helping their people, along with helping the people of the city who also have a lot of people who cling to the past and present, like Garrett and Shania's mom). I hope this makes sense, it sure is a complicated topic

    Great analysis and I agree with MOST of what you say, but the part I interpret differnetly is Alvis' role in XC1. I don't see Ontos' role as "acting on consensus", he's based in part on the Ego from Freudian psychology (sorry psych students for the flashbacks, I hate that guy as much as you do) wherein his role is to interpret the Superego (Pneuma) and Id (Logos) to decide which impulses to follow and which to discard for whichever reason. So in the case of XC1, I see his actions more as him using the data he's taking in from Shulk, Fiora, Meyneth, and Zanza, and DECIDING that Shulk, Fiora, and Meyneth have the right of it, not just because he has stand-ins for Logos and Pneuma that agree. I could be wrong and I'm not making statements of fact or anything, just my interpretation based on you pointing out that Zanza/Shulk and Meyneth/Fiora could, to Ontos, represent stand-ins for Logos and Pneuma.

    • @Mr587098
      @Mr587098 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Weird I always assumed it was other way around with Logos being the Super Ego as Logos by definition means reason and logic while Pneuma was the Id as her name means spirit, which can represent the emotions. It goes with the theme of XC3 as Moebius thought it was logical to keep everyone in the endless now while Ourborous desired to end it and embrace the unknown future.

      @@joewho_forgot_his_hat7884 Sure its possible but there's nothing that confirms or points towards that theory more than anything else. There's just so many ways it could have happened.

      "Neither of them would have batted an eye" sounds much more like Pyra or Mythra than Malos.

      I'm saying it's likely that after Malos died, either Pyra or Mythra took the place of Logos in the trinity processor. I'm not sure what's hard to understand.

    What an excellent video. I still have lingering questions though. Like, why did Pyra and Mythra revert back to the Pneuma core? And if they did, it must have been after Origin failed, or else their core would have been used alongside Ontos. Maybe they conversed with Nia and agreed to revert back to the Pneuma core once Moebius became a threat, and that's how the Ouroboros came to be.
    Rex was surprised that Matthew had Pneuma in the fists, does that mean the Pneuma core went missing at some point after Nia went into slumber? Was it old man Ghondor who found Pneuma washed up on a beach like how Na'el came across Ontos? And how did the Logos core come back? Pretty sure Malos was destroyed at the end of 2, unless it's implied he reverted back to his core as well and was simply lost during the events between 2 and 3, and perhaps Moebius discovered the Logos core and took advantage of it for their powers.
    Still so many unanswered questions, I wanna know more but the series will move on to a new trilogy now.

    One thing I'm hung on about is the fact that N's sword has ALWAYS been with him as Past Noah, even before he became Moebius. This is why I have a hard time associating Logos with Moebius, and this is backed up by the fact that Z in Future Redeemed, the embodiment of Moebius itself, is flabbergasted by how that Sword of the End came into his possession either, and he concludes it's the "will of those unto gods" (being either Pneuma, Ontos, or Logos wills it to be given to a current member of Ouroboros.). While out of universe, the character designer clearly designed N's sword to be a Moebius equivalent to Noah's, the way it is presented in the Chapter 6 flashbacks is incompatible with associating it as a pure Moebius weapon because he always had it, and Z is confused about it, so he couldn't have been responsible. This is also weirder since we know Ghondor possessed N's sword but it's never mentioned what happens to it other than N wielding it in the DLC, like he always does.
    N keeps his sword when he becomes Moebius, and perhaps it is possible being Moebius let him fully unleash his power like Noah's Unlimited Sword (but we do not know the extent of how past Noah used the sword except one time where he uses the sheath as an actual weapon), but this is completely unknown. It is true, however that Z is able to upgrade his Sword of the End to the Origin Blade version in Chapter 7, so he has some degree of power over it.
