WTH America pretty much takes in folks from everywhere, developed and less developed places alike. Arrogant? Learning a 2nd language is almost mandatory in all high schools in the US, and many take Spanish or Chinese. 😑
It's nice to see you explore a Chinese prestigious university! A few comments: 1. the "police" are actually security staff and every school in China has at least one man there 2. it is impossible now for young graduates to get a 30k rmb job as an architect now in China. Architecture has almost become the least popular major rn because working in construction is super tiring and low-paid. The real estate industry is having a hard time to survive and thus students studying Architecture as a major are no longer in great demand. 3. Indeed the universities give international students more benefits and financial support, which is quite different from schools in UK and USA or other western countries. Most of the international students are from developing countries that have close bonds with China. It's a way to promote Chinese culture and international communication. I think that's why the universities won't charge them tuition.
The 3rd point is because nobody wants to go to China for education if it isn't free LOL, and this info is largely unknown to local students because they will just realize how unfair it is considering how much effort they've made to get into these schools.

Indeed this has been a quite controversial or even sometimes conflict-causing issue. At least a foreigner has to pass the Chinese proficiency test and be academically qualified for studying in a top uni like Jiaoda, not like what it's like in some of the less prestigious unis.

Xi'an Jiaotong Univ. is amazing! Actually there are several “Jiaotong University” in different cities of China and they have some kind of connections, too.
There are three Jiaotong Univ: National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University ( in Taiwan); Shanghai Jiao Tong University( in Shanghai) and Xi'an Jiao Tong University ( in Xi'an). Three of them are from the same origin university.
I paid a premium to study abroad, which is reasonable as my parents and older generations did not contribute taxes or any other form of contribution towards the countries I studied in. On the other hand, it is outrageous that China not only offers free education but also provides free accommodation and living expenses to foreign students.
As a Chinese who paid for my own accommodation and food and everything throughout my student life, I also think that’s outrageous or even disgusting for the gov to do so.

But the point above was trying to make was they get a free tuition, accommodation AND living expenses as long as they're foreign student. What makes them so special? Just because they're imports?
To be honest, not every foreigners able to get free education in China universities. One of my friend did spent atmost 100k dollars for her entire journey studied abroad in China

其实我们大陆底层群众还挺讨厌这种的，因为大陆太能补贴外国人了，就从口号上我们似乎是要自信，但我们从实际政策上总是在向外国人献媚，给外国人的一切都是我们国家最好的设施，我希望中国能真正平等的看待国人和外国人。
你没发现吗？官方一直压制主体民族，也就是汉族的民族意识。也就近几年好点，以前，谁懂汉族是什么？而最近几年，也是反对崇洋媚外的声音最多的，其实是中国主体的民族意识已经苏醒了。我觉得以前中国一直比较重维稳，后面等着看吧，压抑得久了，迟早反噬
所以很多人移民再用外國身份回來...
初期目的是为了能够培养一些知华派 影响当地精英阶层 能出国留学的一般都有一定社会阶层 起码不是太差 ，特别是发展中国家，后来是因为有国际排名，留学生数量跟排名有一定关系 好像能领到补贴还是啥的 现在好像要慢慢取消了 实际来说随着国力强大 人家自然会主动来学习 不需要这样 我觉得大概还需要十年时间 即中美分出胜负 会很快形成一股很大的留学中国热潮 毕竟人都是慕强的

西安本地人建议你不要来读书哦，旅游可以。 毕竟上大学要考虑以后的就业前景，西安地理位置不好以后找实习/工作会很困难的。而且西安最好的两所大学西安交大和西工大都在美国制裁中国的黑名单里（因为这两所大学在军工方面的专业很多），这意味着这里的毕业生将来出国留学会比较麻烦。我就是前几年考大学的，那会大家都会优先选择东部/南部大城市的学校。

西安人自学粤语这么好，太强了。建筑系毕业生有那么高的收入么很怀疑特别是在西安。国内政府真他妈对国际学生优待，感觉如此好的学校基本都不带筛选门槛真低还可以免费读书。

国内的本科是这样的，毕竟从封闭的高中出去要经过好几年才明白读书不是唯一出路。
实际门口的保安更多是疫情之后才出来的，至少我们学校疫情前大门是随便进出的😂ps.另外我们学校机械学院也挺强

西安交大失败就在于它在西安。西安本地人表示小时候这个学校很有名，全国范围的有名。等我真的要考大学的时候，大家都选东边沿海城市的学校，尽管“排名”没西交大好也要出西安。现在来看是正确的选择。西安交大现在上了美国的黑名单，毕业生想出国留学都申请不到visa。

西安交大是很顶尖的大学。中国大学的学费和食堂伙食费真的很低，政府会补贴很多。美国大学生有点郁闷，毕业就背学贷。但华人一般都会把孩子大学学费付清。
国内大学不允许高学费，一本每年就是5000人民币，以便促进阶层跃迁，否则寒门子弟无法出头。

我是福建人，在北京读书的时候有两个很不习，1是集体洗澡堂，2是天气太干。不过我是1995-1999，现在的学生比我们当年又幸福太多太多了。🎉
我四川人，在北京读书，跟你一样感觉。前几次洗澡我都穿着内衣裤进去，然后发现很多人都在互相搓澡。不过大二就可以帮室友抢水龙头了。天气太干还起电这点确实很烦，但是北方的暖气真的比南方爽，室内直接穿单衣。我们那会北京还挺多沙尘暴，空气也不好。现在倒是好了很多。还是很怀念在北京的时候，无忧无虑的，工作以后就没那么闲散的时光了

必须来澄清一个事实，建筑学毕业现在起始工资没有那么高，现在地产较为低迷😅
建筑起点算中上。但是应该没有三万这么多吧。 建筑最大的问题是不天花板比较低。累也是真的累

@@momolitew2481 建筑的起薪是最低的。湖南省院的实习生甚至没有底薪。虽然之前二十年建筑系的毕业生，薪水还真有三五万，但才毕业的实习生真不高。
我可以肯定的告诉你，他这种外语人才肯定是去国企海外项目部，起薪3W是可以做到的。
