    If you have trouble with tape damaging existing paint try using a hairdryer to warm the tape as you remove it. This has worked for me may times.

      I like using the yellow low-adhesion frog tape rather than that blue stuff, you get less pull-off.

    As a painter Sherwin Williams, and I believe Home Depot too, has Frog Tape which is green, does much better at leaving paint on the walls, even if left for days. Also frog tape also comes in yellow and it’s even more gentle. Not quite sticky enough for my needs most of the time but sometimes it’s exactly what I need. Give it a try!

    Love your maturity that you didn’t get rattled by the peeling paint and having to get a different paint to match existing sheen,you are a true professional. Love what you answered to one of the comments that you give a set price and don’t charge extra trying to milk the client so not only the quality of your work and the clean execution sets you apart but also the strength of character. Retired but glad to learn from you. GOD bless!

    Hey Richard, if the paint peeling when removing tape is a common issue, you can buy a hand paper masker. Use yellow low tack tape with 8 to 12 inch wide paper and tape to bottom of the crown as usual, then you can tape your plastic to the paper. Generally, when paint peels off the sheetrock like that it's due to not priming walls before applying finish coats or the mud joints where not dusted before priming. I appreciate you taking your time to video your work and explaining every step. Stay safe out there.

    • @GODLOVERBAM
      @GODLOVERBAM 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      "mud joints were not dusted" what does that mean?

    • @omnibuildersnz
      @omnibuildersnz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He means the plaster joins like if it was square stopped sanded and not dusted b4 priming the paint comes right off

    • @jeffs8330
      @jeffs8330 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@GODLOVERBAM it means wiping off the dust after sanding the drywall joints. If you leave the sanding dust on the joint, the paint is adhering to the dust and that isn't attached to the wall and can easily come off, even with low tack tape.

    Another great job. Awesome out come! We use tons of tape putting up plastic for dust proofing. I find the green tape, and peeling straight back across the tape does less peel tear out on existing paint. It's worth it to get up on the ladder and go around carefully peeling it straight back across itself. So many times I've stood on the floor and peeled off the tape from a doorway to be like oh no! Then have to scramble and find touch-up paint that matches. Or end up painting entire walls

    Warming the masking tape before peeling is effective, but also the angle you pull the tape. Try pulling it back slowly over itself. It puts less stress on the underlying paint. Of course, if the drywall wasn't thoroughly dusted before its first coat of paint, peeling is inevitable.

    Absolutely Beautiful and A JOB WELL DONE! I am a remodel contractor in the Albuquerque Area and the biggest challenge is finding people that will do good work. It is very hard to find good people that really will take the time and pride and do a good job for their customer. I always say, " FINISH WORK IS VERY TIDIOUS AND TIME CONSUMING." If your not the right kind of worker that can take his/her time to finish the job to get an overwhelming compliment from your customer, then this is definitely not the trade for you. ( You can tell by the expression on a customer's face) how they feel about your finished work. I have had both (-) and (+) expressions on previous experiences. And the (+) are the best reviews and referrals. And the (-) are redos and you will not get a positive review and referrals. So, the point is- DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. GOOD JOB BOYS! I wish your were in the Albuquerque area. BTW: One final comment- The best always cost a little more than cheap! trust me! I am a homeowner and I will never again hire the cheapest bidder! It never pays. My grandfather said this in Spanish, "siempre el barato sale carro." I think I spelled it right. In English, " Always the cheapest cost much more." Take care. Thumbs up from Albuquerque, NM!

    Really enjoy your channel, one piece of advise when pulling tape pull it at a sharp angle, like in the video where you started pulling tape, but you can see as you change the angle more paint comes of. It's harder for the paint to lift with a sharp angle, it's not perfect but can by you some grace.
    Enjoy, I'm learning new tricks all the time. Blessings
