    3 weeks ago I fitted 8 of these expensive TRV's,my boiler is a Viessmann Vitodens 100 that's just 13 months old.My system is clean and I pre set the recommended numbers on the TRV's prior to fitting,I also used the supplied Danfoss lock shields.Bled the system 3 times to make sure all was good,fired up the boiler the result was all radiators vibrate and make a buzzing sound.The boiler which is normally very quiet has become noisy almost sound like a failing pump.
    I contacted Danfoss they gave me a case number but 3 weeks on I have yet to hear anything from them.
    I regret fitting these things,I'm going to give Danfoss one more week to come up with a fix for this issue,I live in hope.

      Hi Brian, thanks for email, very sorry to hear your problem, I will contact Danfoss to get your problem solved, question, 11. check every valve arrow is pointing to correct way, 2. has the auto bypass been set up correctly, 3.are the rads total load the same as the boiler heating load or a bit less?, please keep me informed, I will send your comment to the Rep.
      Have you got these details? don't call them yet I will sort things out, regards George staszak

      Hi Brian, I am no expert but I have read that the restricted flow through the valves because of the turned down settings on the balancing valves can strangle the pump (if it is not a modulating pump) because of the increased resistance causing the pump to try and pump against an almost dead head thereby causing vibration throughout the system and possible cavitation in the radiators. I am considering buying the Drayton TVR4 balancing valves but your comments have potentially put me off if I end up in the same boat.

      @@golfnut533 Hi Robert/Brian, So does this mean the pump wouldn't need to work as hard, would turning the pump speed down not fix the problem?

    I have and underfloor system in part of my house with automatic balancing valves which just fit in the flow in the manifold. I’ve often wondered why you couldn’t just fit them on the flow side of your rads and have a tvr on the other side as they now work on flow or return. But hey I’m not a plumber.

      @mrcombiBedford  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy, thanks for asking, easy, the UF TRVs have a much smaller hole because the flow rate and temperature are much lower than on a rad, it would take ages too warm up.
      The balancing TRV is best on the return as we balance normal rads on the return.
      All the best, George Staszak 👍

    I have 10 rads in my house, two of which do not have old style TRV’s on them (as per boiler manufacturer instructions as they should act as a bypass) so the rad in the bathroom does not have one and rad in the hall where my room T/stat is located does not have one also. Can my system be balanced if only 8 of the 10 rads have the new balancing TRV’s installed?

    • @mrcombiBedford
      @mrcombiBedford  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Robert, thanks for asking, I thought I answered your question? Or similar, anyway any rad with or without a TRV is NOT a by-pass it's either on max 247 or some TRV control better than none.
      Most components at 8 years should replace. Those 2 rads are OK but building control would say TRV.s everywhere except where the room stat is (lounge)
      As my vids show the AUTO by-pass goes under the boiler within 1 metre of the valves, please have a look.
      As long as the system is balanced leave the 2 rads alone, they are NOT a by-pass just flat out which is OK there.
      Hope that helps take care, George Staszak

    How do the new Drayton TRV4 Auto Balancing
    valves compare? I think they work with standard lock shields and without blue tooth app.

    • @mrcombiBedford
      @mrcombiBedford  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Richard, thanks for asking, there is no difference both are recommended, it's just that Danfoss invented TRVs and they asked me to make a video. Before everyone rushes off as you will need 6/10 of them ALWAYS get quotes from at least 3 merchants and get the best deal. Price match if they want your money.regards George Staszak 👍

      @@mrcombiBedford The Drayton Auto Balancing TRV4 valves do not use a mobile=bluetooth app but a calculator that uses the size and output of the radiator with is then set in the valve. It would be great if you did a video of this to see how this functions. Hopefully Drayton will make you the same offer.
      Viewing your videos you suggested the idea of installing a drain tap externally when installing systems,
      which is an excellent idea. Draining and power flushing systems to maintain a good heating system can be daunting and would be great if you could do a video on how to do it and the equipment needed.

    How do you isolate the non trv valve side to remove the radiator?

      Hi Nick, thanks for asking, just turn the control valve white cap clockwise the other side for balancing valve use a small adjustable spanner to close that OFF, again clockwise. Hope that helps George Staszak

    It is possible that Viessmann and Danfoss do not get along well. I swapped all my TRVs to these and the very expensive Viessmann boiler truly hates them. The system no longer recognises heating demand and if you force the pump to push water the pressure locks up the danfoss valves. I also noticed that the bore is very small so it’s really no wonder that the valves are causing issues. It’s a real shame that they didn’t just bring the European version which is much wider even if it’s more expensive. 😢
