As an 8-year Toronto resident, I felt like my love for the city has been renewed. Thank you for this video essay that made me rediscover the charm of the city!
Same, but then I look at my rent and my bills and I cry. Working 12 hours a day, my only solace is the painted lady on Ossington and Mr Jerk on Wellesley.
As a life long Torontonian this was a great video. You could have gone into the arts, museums, outdoor spaces more, but you touched on them. Threw in some Hamilton for good measure too :D I'm glad to hear you like the diversity and the food. We don't really have anything else except people, people from everywhere, no mountains, no specific industry, not many unique monuments or much history, but we do have people and what they bring. Welcome!
Canoopsy, I can’t even explain how much you inspire me, even if we come from totally different backgrounds and continents. It’s just your attitude, style, curiosity and creativity
I love your videos where Toronto is in the forefront. I did a working holiday there, my happiest memories were working in the hectic bustling hospitality industry. Toronto issa vibe.
I think I feel very similarly about Hamilton as you do about Toronto. It wasn't the city I grew up in. Yes it has flaws but it's dramatically changed me over the almost 9 years that I have been here. I'm very grateful to be where I am now and couldn't think of a better for me a my family to grow and live together. I am glad we both found our homes away from home. 😊
Thank you brother, born in TO, left the city at a young age, family commitments currently don't allow me to make it back..... but your video just gave me the vibes to make it happen in the future ❤
This was the most warm hearted 20 mins I’ve ever watched on TH-cam. So informative and so delightful to follow you around and listening to everything you had to say about Toronto. I do hope to visit one day. The food though my boy, goodness gracious 🤤
Sending love from edmonton! our country has a lot of problems right now but i think it's important to remember that the home we live in, the community around us is priceless. Thank you for bringing us along to some of your favourite places and sharing your story... i am intrigued by that roma pizza from hamilton....
Great video, Canoopsy👍I was born and grew up in Toronto and thought there was no place better on earth. Until the company I sold for asked me if I would take over the western Canada territory. I moved to Vancouver in 1994 and never looked back. In 2008 I moved to a small community 40 minutes northwest of greater Vancouver where I live about a 12 minute walk from the ocean, which is even better. A few things I don't miss about Toronto: freezing cold and often brutal winters; the stifling humidity in the summer; the endless density from Oshawa to St. Catherines and beyond; Pearson Airport. I fly back to Toronto twice a year to visit siblings in Toronto, Bowmanville and Oshawa, and usually spend a couple of days wandering around downtown T.O., but I don't feel any draw or connection to the city. I never would have believed that I could leave the city I loved and never miss it.
I’ve been to Toronto for a few weeks about 5 or 6 years ago and completely felt the vibe you are describing. Made me want to go back and wonder around. Really inspiring video, great to see more about you, your background and influences
This was just more than a video about what to do in Toronto, it was also a snapshot of how you've grown in this city. I've travelled extensively to great cities and Tokyo is hands down my favorite, but I always come back home to Toronto, and you pretty much nailed it, it's her people. And people have come in waves as different nationalities seem to come in batches over the years.. anyway, the city is ever changing and sometimes, it doesnt know where it's going. There are definitely challenges and I'm glad you've highlighted them. Nevertheless, the city continues to infuse the different perspectives and it has done so for several decades. Will Toronto ever establish it's own identity, who knows, and does it really matter? I guess the journey there is what makes this city interesting.
I’ve recently moved to Toronto and have been wanting to find more of these unique/original places to eat at (only chain restaurants where I’m from). I’ll be coming back to this vid!
Thank you for this very transparent and heartwarming depiction of Toronto. As someone who grew up in the GTA, went to school downtown, and is currently at the age of trying to save up for a house, moving elsewhere has been a constant thought. Especially after just coming back from Tokyo, an almost ideal depiction of what I’d always thought a city should be, I find it hard to recommend to people things to do here or why they should visit. But it hit home when you highlighted how fast Toronto is changing and how diverse we are. I’ve gotta agree, some of the best parts of the city are really in the small business and neighbourhoods surrounding the city and kudos to you for giving them a spotlight. This vid really allowed me to see our city from a different perspective and reminds me why despite its problems, Toronto will always be home. Great work!!
From Hamilton as well. Born and raised. Roma tattoo is next level. Moved to Toronto last October. Great video mate, you highlight a lot of the things people seem to overlook.
Toronto is amazing 🙏 Thank you for sharing the truth about Toronto amidst all of the doomerism surrounding the city, Toronto and Torontonians really need this and everyone needs to see what a great city Toronto truly is. It's home 🇨🇦
As someone who visits once a year from Montreal I find so far the best way to commute Toronto is by motorcycle. Despite lane splitting being illegal, locals are respectful & understanding & make way for you to pass. Here in Montreal I’ve had drivers swerve into me or even open doors to stop me from passing.
Yesss, Sonic Boom! Single biggest contributor to my small cassette collection. I've been in Toronto juuust about 2 years now, originally from Calgary. I love it here. Transit is a bit rough around the edges, but I rely on it pretty much exclusively (and walking, of course), and it's held up. In Calgary, car ownership was pretty much mandatory outside the inner-most inner city. Here, nah. What I absolutely love are all the well-established, small, family-owned shops and restaurants like everywhere. My place in midtown is surrounded by green-grocers, all within like 3 minutes from my front door, and I can get most of my daily food for hilariously cheaper than it would be at Loblaw's et al. And all the tiny, cash-only restaurants in Chinatown are just heaven. You can spend a lot on a nice meal here, but you can also get a full meal for like $4 if you know where to look. Also your cats are fucking gorgeous.
THIS IS AWESOME. thank you for this. even though i dont live in toronto, it made me appreciate my own city a lot more. seeing similarities and the differences!
You got me on this post, tears and lots of emotions. Texas is home now 20+ years, but I was born and raised in Metro Detroit. Toronto was my 2nd home because we were there almost every other month, even to the point of every other weekend when my Mom started dating a guy there. Yep, knew all the places most travelers & tourist don't know. Food glorious food from everywhere!! Eventually, of course, I grew up and left Detroit 2 days after graduation. I was like you, even though I grew up in the suburbs I hated the weather and the city. Montreal became my new spot to visit years later on my own from wherever I was living. The parts I cried were the being alone, your cat story, and when you went home. No matter how much we dislike our hometown, it's still home and formed us. I cried so hard my last trip to Detroit, it has changed gloriously, but I still don't want to live there 😂😂 Great video of the other city that was the catalyst to me traveling to destinations many people would be shocked a black kid from Detroit has visited. Thank you and Thank the Province of Ontario for great memories
I've lived in the Toronto area my whole life, (except for several years of travelling) and your video made it feel like I was seeing it for the first time. I'm sitting here crying because I feel so overwhelmed with gratitude for living here and being from here. Thank you. Intro was AMAZING and your cat story also made me cry. I love Cats. I was introduced to them while living in a rat and mice rampant Halifax and I decided to get a fixer!! Thank you for this video. I am really happy that you've shown Toronto to the world this way!!
been watching you for almost 5 years now all the way from hong kong. ive visited toronto once and it's interesting that much of what you've talked about in the video is also applicable to the city i live in despite being across the globe. love your vids!!
Hi I grew up in a very small village and I had similar feelings and experiences you mentioned when moving into a big city (Sydney). Thank you so much for your work, you are a huge inspiration mate :)
I always dreamed of moving somewhere else and canada has been on my radar for a while now. I still have to go there and make my own idea but this is nice man it makes me want to move already
i love videos that talk about how great the city still is. you know last few years everybody is toronto bashing like crazy but i've been to a lot of other cities, yes toronto was easier pre-pandmeic but almost every major city in 2024 is also experiencing a housing crisis, lay offs, and food inflation. like it aint perfect but for most people unless you got some balling job offer in another city with a visa lined up, toronto is still a good place to be
As someone who's been in the GTA for most of my life, thank you for this love letter to a city that has it's problems but also has limitless potential for growth
just love the feeling of your videos. Also, the bit about duster made me emotional-can totally relate with my own cats. wishing you the best always Isaac
Can’t believe the timing of this video. Moved to Toronto from the US 2 days ago looking forward to making new friends and exploring the city with them.
Canoopsy The King! 👑 🤖 💻 Longtime Supporter here! I love your videos! It's always so nice to get to hear more about your life and thoughts! I'm glad your fur baby is doing better! 😺
i am 2 month in Toronto after living 11 years in Dubai. Hard to compare both cities... but i've seen bad and good sides of Dubai and now found many missing things here in Toronto. Feel comfortable here. It will be my home for next several years for now...
I split my time between both. I'll put it this way. If you take out Manhattan out of NYC, I prefer Toronto. Manhattan elevates NYC to a whole different level.
Great video, but as someone who lives in Toronto for the last 10 years, this city’s charm wears off pretty fast when you realize how unaffordable, overcrowded and disorganized a lot of things are (not saying all things). There is beauty in chaos always, but it certainly hasn’t been close to an upward trend as of late. Go to Chicago and majority of residents proudly say it’s the best city. Toronto doesn’t have that same pride for a reason.
Thank you so much for bringing up the poor public transportation people other than infrastructure channels should be mentioning this more often. The city needs change and people need to learn about it. Cheers
As someone that moved here from Hamilton in 2012, the Roma segment hit. Tried to explain this to my girlfriend, even forced her to try Roma, no one understands. Everyone just calls it bread with sauce, they don't understand what nostalgia tastes like.
As someone who actively avoids the downtown core- it's really odd seeing a video about Toronto showcasing all the places I recognize. From each scene to the next, I react "Oh this place! It's by ___ and ___". I strictly only see people on my social media visiting Toronto's downtown core and visiting only the hyped places like Badiali's (to be fair, they do have good pizza). Still, it hurts to see them only scratch the surface of Toronto's culture. You know more about Toronto than a good 90% of the people I know who live in Toronto or around the GTA. Love this video mate.

My girlfriend and I are moving to Toronto from Vancouver and we have a cat so we looked into pet ownership in Toronto. I dunno, I figured this might help if anyone is watching this gearing up to move to Toronto considering Canoopsy talks about his can adoption.
Big cities look nice from far away and stretching your neck to see the buildings is fun but the commute isn't fun, to me it's crowded. my wife and I just got back from Toronto last month. it was our first time there and we loved it! patrick had a lot of good food recs for us.

As a New York resident, it feels like NYC
Might feel like it from a far but it's definitely it's own thing 😉 If you have the chance to visit, you're always welcome 🙏
I split my time between both. I'll put it this way. If you take out Manhattan out of NYC, I prefer Toronto. Manhattan elevates NYC to a whole different level.
Feels fresh.
Loved the opening‼️👏
Great video, can't go wrong with the food choices here!
Great video! Straight from the heart. You should put out more videos like this! Keep it up!
Well done friend
Your hair game ---vibe-- elevated ‼️🎉🎉🎉
time to visit Toronto
This video is awesome. Just went to Hamilton and it has so much potential yet it’s just run to the ground
This has been in the making for a while now. ‘Bout damn time!
Really good vid, also every song choice is fantastic
My daughter was born in Toronto. I would always love the city. 🏩
My favourite thing about Toronto is that you can be in Montreal within a few hours.
shoutout Roma pizza fr
Loved the video bro 🙏🏾
Can't believe you're from Hamilton too. I love this city but I do want to move to Toronto one day
Great video, but as someone who lives in Toronto for the last 10 years, this city’s charm wears off pretty fast when you realize how unaffordable, overcrowded and disorganized a lot of things are (not saying all things). Toronto seems like the place to be 😎
Nah
your videos are the only ones i fullscreen.
p.s. i need that shirt
Kendrick has been real quiet since this dropped
Gotta leave my hometown for real, I feel I'm trapped in this place. Nice video by the way. 💟
Thank you so much for bringing up the poor public transportation people other than infrastructure channels should be mentioning this more often. The city needs change and people need to learn about it. Cheers
I love your ecco2k tattoo
as someone who grew up down the street from roma pizza and also moved to toronto 6 years ago, I'm almost mad you beat me to that tattoo haha
The perfect city video doesn’t exi-
As someone that moved here from Hamilton in 2012, the Roma segment hit. Tried to explain this to my girlfriend, even forced her to try Roma, no one understands. Everyone just calls it bread with sauce, they don't understand what nostalgia tastes like.
Fantastic video! I swear we’re so similar, I was gonna make a video like to this
Thanks man , Thanks for sharing ❤ 🙏👍 عالی
That "pizza“ from Hamilton is known as garlic bread in Europe.
As someone who actively avoids the downtown core- it's really odd seeing a video about Toronto showcasing all the places I recognize. From each scene to the next, I react "Oh this place! love the video and the fallen angels tee.
Great content as always from Canoopsy.
Also, Is it worth to trade in my 14 Pro to 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max when they come out, or wait longer to upgrade? I have a regular 14 Pro from February 2023 with 88% battery health after a year and a half and don’t like the battery life and buggy experience (factory reset didn’t help)
I love Toronto.
the maybach truck as a mirror 👀
Video amazing… your haircut… even more 😊
Bike friendly as long as the bike does not get stolen lol
Great video brother
My girlfriend and I are moving to Toronto from Vancouver and we have a cat so we looked into pet ownership in Toronto. We are renters and this is my understanding of Ontario law regarding pet ownership. A landlord can refuse to rent to you if you have a pet but pet ownership cannot be the basis for eviction. I dunno, I figured this might help if anyone is watching this gearing up to move to Toronto considering Canoopsy talks about his can adoption.
That's my record you almost pulled out of the pile at Sonic Boom!
That cat story…❤
Big cities look nice from far away and stretching your neck to see the buildings is fun but the commute isn't fun, to me it's crowded. Where I live, the small streets are curvy with grass fields and a bike path that connects to the sidewalk. The big roads are away from people. Toronto looks great though.
Best video in 2024.
