- In this video we step into the land of Alexander the Great's Macedon and the modern country of North Macedonia which has changed it's name since the last time I visited. These are my first impressions of Skopje, North Macedonia, I go through Skopje and explore the forts, old bazaar, churches and mosques while discussing the key historical moments for the city and for Macedonians.

Macedonia was a region spreading on few countries from Macedon to Capadogia, than spreading through Armenia, Babylona, Persis, Ganbhara (part of Himalaya), Porus (India), and on the other side also was spreading on the territory of Syria and Egypt. So... as you can see historically speaking taking in consideration this evidence you can conclude that we live in a world where the mix of culture and nations throughout the centuries is evident.

Ok some history about Hotel Bristol!
Open in 1924, it was the oldest hotel in the city and it has a legendary status in Skopje’s history. It has many stories connected to it. It’s mentioned in “Black Lamb and Grey Falcon” by Rebecca West who had a romantic affair with a man there. There is a very old walnut tree in the garden of the hotel that was a romantic gift and it’s also explained in an old book “Црно јагне, див Балкан”. Zorba the Greek died in the hotel. And in 1995, there was an assassination attempt on the first ever president right outside via a car bomb.
Unfortunately it officially closed down in 2012 and it’s in complete neglect now, like many things in this country
