Honestly I think we've reached the point where just about every phone is evenly matched. You can't really buy a bad phone anymore. All down to preference at this point.
I am a hardcore Apple fan, and I believe this is a fair comparison because both are the current flagships for their companies. Yes, you gotta admit that Samsung has more features, but are they really that important for the most general consumers to make them switch from iPhones? At least not for me! I still give the edge to iPhone 6s in the following departments which are more important to me: the usability, speed, software update, hardware and software support, longevity and integration with your Mac and iPad. At the end of the day, it all comes to one thing wether you prefer Android or iOS. I switched form Samsung to Apple a couple of years before and couldn't have been happier. In the real world usage, raw specs don't matter to me. So both are equally great phones for what they can do. Stop being that fanboy who knows nothing.

you made a good point. the difference in their ecosystem is really not much different now. and you mention the integration from iphone to mac/iPad, well many androids have that feature with modern pc too. it's really just splitting hairs when it comes down to features. I am incline to love the extra battery upgrade the s7 offers. I used my friends 6s and battery life didn't last a day for me which sucks if I would get the 6s as a daily driver. I finally made the pre-order of the s7 mainly bc of the superamoled display and battery life.

I need help! I've been with apple for awhile now and own a iPhone 6. I'm getting ready for an upgrade in October, & was wondering if I should switch to Galaxy S7 or stick with Apple and get the iPhone 7? Honestly I love touch wiz. I don't really like the fact that it has more lag than stock but the added features make up for that big time. Stock Android is that, stock Android. I don't mind the colours of touch wiz at all, really I find them to bring out the capabilities of Samsung displays even more. Plus the camera software, I would never use another skin, honestly.

I'm kind of getting tired of iPhones getting compared to android phones. I get that you guys wanna inform the community but come on. People should know that iPhones will always stay in their own lanes and not try to be a phone with ridiculous specs. They'll keep it simple but still very good. Same thing with Windows phones. What I hate about having a flagship galaxy phone is that it looks like any other lower end galaxy phones and people can't even tell you have the best one.
I have the S6 and people are always like "is that the s6?" then they proceed to lecture me about using a case but for the most part people know I have the S6 when they see it.

I switched from Samsung to iPhone two years ago and all I can say is that it's purely personal preference. If you're looking for functionality, the S7 is where it's at. If you're looking for simplicity and integration with other Apple products, the iPhone is for you. Personally, I switched for iMessage and Mac integration- which are simple, but crucial things to me. I love Samsung and Apple equally as they both bring different features to the table.
+Ben Rafter It's perfectly optimised because they only make it for like 4-5 models. Android is on 100's of models. iOS will work better than Android because of this and if you try to argue it won't you don't know anything about technology.
Ben Rafter because they use the phone for a week, before it can develop bugs (which they always do). I've had every galaxy up to S5 and they all had problems. i have a 6S now and never had a problem with it.

Android is better than Apple period. You can personalize your phone according to your liking, you have a option to download apps from unknown sources which are typically apps that you can't get from the PlayStore to enhance your phone experience and Samsung Phones are just Better than Apple Phones dealing with the hardware of it. The only thing I really agree with Apple phones is the silent button but everything else is irrelevant to me.

I have owned a Note 4 since December 2014 and have been pretty happy with it up until recently when I noticed I'm getting some lag and apps freeze a lot. So I've been considering switching to an iPhone because apps somehow seem to be better designed for iOS but after seeing this S7, I'm torn now. I want the smoothness of iOS but also don't really wanna downgrade my screen resolution.

Make an app loading comparison. Pick say 10 apps used everyday, like skype, messenger, viber, instagram etc and maybe throw in a photo snap and something involving maps (like directions to somewhere). Then go back through multitasking to find out how many of them can load instantly. Other than games, that is the most important speed metric imho.
I've always stuck with Apple. In the past I did own a few Samsung phones and they crashed all the time, kept having way too many problems. I like having some freedom when customising my phone and the wireless charging is an awesome feature that Apple needs to get its head around, but at this point i'm still undecided.
I had heard that although the S7 has the MicroSD slot however it will unfortunately NOT have writing permissions. meaning the expandable storage will be READ ONLY. And that the data on the SD Card cannot be added to or edited while in the device. Which is a huge blow to SD card fans. Can anyone confirm?
False, I ask the Samsung person and it all depends on the SD card, if you going to buy one get the best one, remember the best ones aren't cheap. if you get a 64 gb for 10 or 20 than its slow and not good, get the best one, at the time when the 64gb came out I paid 98 dollars and it was super fast and still works till today.

you guys noticed that when the iPhone 5s vs the galaxy s5 and than iphone 6 vs galaxy 6 and iphone 6s was supposedly against the galaxy s6 and now the galaxy s7 vs the new iPhone 7 coming and than galaxy s8 vs the 7s which is where stuff change now and than galaxy s9 vs iphone 8, so now there's a whole number difference.
I just tried both the S7 series phones, and the Edge Black looks especially great. However, the tint on the screen is more towards yellow compared to my iPhone 6 Plus. It´s also noticeable when browsing the web. The screen isn´t as bright, and looks a bit dim next to the iPhone. As someone who regularly transfers dSLR photos to the phone for on-the-go editing, colour accurary is crucial. I can see why Apple haven´t gone OLED yet. For the average consumer though, I´d say the Samsung is the better choice, no doubt. Nice design, fast, better battery, wireless charging and smaller footprint than the 6 Plus.
Ok Android Authority, I am thinking of making the switch from apple to Samsung. but before I do, there are a couple questions that I have, that I am sure you would know the answer to. First question, since my wife will be keeping her iphone would there be anyway to continue to sync our calenders together? currently when she adds something to her calender it adds to mine. Second question is about facetime, what would we need to download to continue using facetime, is skype any good? Also, will I be able to sync my itunes to my samsung?? How will I get my music to my phone, and photos off my phone?? I hope you can answer these questions for me. Thank you for your time, to whom ever helps me with these questions
I can answer one of your questions. Importing music and photos is really easy to do. Just plug it up to your computer, and then send your music files to the S6. That's it. Same with your photos. If you don't want to do that, there's always the Apple Music App on android's PlayStore.
Let us hope that Samsung allow what makes Marshmellow so good. They have disabled the intertwining of storage, which allowed if for example you had 32GB on your phone, and a 64GB card, the phone would simply see 96GB of storage. So for the moment, Touchwiz will see them both separate which will make it again troublesome for apps to use both storage options.

I've been an android user for years, and maybe I had problems with it a couple years ago? But in the past 2 years android has become very secure. I've never had any problems personally.
+Marwan kassim Lagging is totally preventable. As long as you restart your device every couple weeks, and delete your unimportant texts every week your device should be running smooth. That's where many people go wrong. Also, deleting Miscellaneous Files is good every once in a while too. I'm currently using the Galaxy S6 and it's been running great since June. I wouldn't recommend any previous samsung devices though, just because I've used those.

Honestly I love touch wiz. I don't really like the fact that it has more lag than stock but the added features make up for that big time. Stock Android is that, stock Android. I don't mind the colours of touch wiz at all, really I find them to bring out the capabilities of Samsung displays even more. Plus the camera software, I would never use another skin, honestly.

I'm kind of getting tired of iPhones getting compared to android phones. I get that you guys wanna inform the community but come on. People should know that iPhones will always stay in their own lanes and not try to be a phone with ridiculous specs. They'll keep it simple but still very good. Same thing with Windows phones. What I hate about having a flagship galaxy phone is that it looks like any other lower end galaxy phones and people can't even tell you have the best one.
I have the S6 and people are always like "is that the s6?" then they proceed to lecture me about using a case but for the most part people know I have the S6 when they see it.

I switched from Samsung to iPhone two years ago and all I can say is that it's purely personal preference. If you're looking for functionality, the S7 is where it's at. If you're looking for simplicity and integration with other Apple products, the iPhone is for you. Personally, I switched for iMessage and Mac integration- which are simple, but crucial things to me. I love Samsung and Apple equally as they both bring different features to the table.

I know a few other people did Mate 8 vs Samsung Galaxy S7, but could you guys do a comparison. I've been seeing a lot of favorable reviews for the Mate 8 (except the UI, but that's a company problem not necessarily the phone itself).
Android is better than Apple period. You can personalize your phone according to your liking, you have a option to download apps from unknown sources which are typically apps that you can't get from the PlayStore to enhance your phone experience and Samsung Phones are just Better than Apple Phones dealing with the hardware of it. The only thing I really agree with Apple phones is the silent button but everything else is irrelevant to me.

I have owned a Note 4 since December 2014 and have been pretty happy with it up until recently when I noticed I'm getting some lag and apps freeze a lot. So I've been considering switching to an iPhone because apps somehow seem to be better designed for iOS but after seeing this S7, I'm torn now. I want the smoothness of iOS but also don't really wanna downgrade my screen resolution.

Make an app loading comparison. Pick say 10 apps used everyday, like skype, messenger, viber, instagram etc and maybe throw in a photo snap and something involving maps (like directions to somewhere). Then go back through multitasking to find out how many of them can load instantly.
Other than games, that is the most important speed metric imho.
I've always stuck with Apple. In the past I did own a few Samsung phones and they crashed all the time, kept having way too many problems. I like having some freedom when customising my phone and the wireless charging is an awesome feature that Apple needs to get its head around, but at this point i'm still undecided.

I had heard that although the S7 has the MicroSD slot however it will unfortunately NOT have writing permissions. meaning the expandable storage will be READ ONLY. And that the data on the SD Card cannot be added to or edited while in the device. Which is a huge blow to SD card fans. Can anyone confirm?
False, I ask the Samsung person and it all depends on the SD card, if you going to buy one get the best one, remember the best ones aren't cheap. if you get a 64 gb for 10 or 20 than its slow and not good, get the best one, at the time when the 64gb came out I paid 98 dollars and it was super fast and still works till today.

I just tried both the S7 series phones, and the Edge Black looks especially great. However, the tint on the screen is more towards yellow compared to my iPhone 6 Plus. It´s also noticeable when browsing the web. The screen isn´t as bright, and looks a bit dim next to the iPhone. As someone who regularly transfers dSLR photos to the phone for on-the-go editing, colour accurary is crucial. I can see why Apple haven´t gone OLED yet. For the average consumer though, I´d say the Samsung is the better choice, no doubt. Nice design, fast, better battery, wireless charging and smaller footprint than the 6 Plus.
Ok Android Authority, I am thinking of making the switch from apple to Samsung. but before I do, there are a couple questions that I have, that I am sure you would know the answer to. First question, since my wife will be keeping her iphone would there be anyway to continue to sync our calenders together? currently when she adds something to her calender it adds to mine.
Second question is about facetime, what would we need to download to continue using facetime, is skype any good?
Also, will I be able to sync my itunes to my samsung?? How will I get my music to my phone, and photos off my phone?? I hope you can answer these questions for me. Thank you for your time, to whom ever helps me with these questions
I can answer one of your questions.
Importing music and photos is really easy to do. Just plug it up to your computer, and then send your music files to the S6. That's it. Same with your photos.
If you don't want to do that, there's always the Apple Music App on android's PlayStore.

They have disabled the intertwining of storage, which allowed if for example you had 32GB on your phone, and a 64GB card, the phone would simply see 96GB of storage.
So for the moment, Touchwiz will see them both separate which will make it again troublesome for apps to use both storage options.
S7 is uch a beautiful phone and this time it has all the features that I long for. I am in for the S7.

I've been an android user for years, and maybe I had problems with it a couple years ago? But in the past 2 years android has become very secure. I've never had any problems personally.

+Marwan kassim Lagging is totally preventable. As long as you restart your device every couple weeks, and delete your unimportant texts every week your device should be running smooth. That's where many people go wrong. Also, deleting Miscellaneous Files is good every once in a while too.
I'm currently using the Galaxy S6 and it's been running great since June. I wouldn't recommend any previous samsung devices though, just because I've used those.
