I finally did the thing where you turn your clothes hangers around backwards on the rod and when you wear something, wash it and hang it back up you hang the hanger the “right” way. In one year any clothes whose hangers are still backwards will get donated. Truth be told, I go through my closet about every 3 months but I wanted to try this way to see what I reach for the most! Great job!!!
Erinsy Loves the mountains I have done this! It works! Or I will take all my tshirts and put them in a box in the closet. WHEN I get one out to wear it I keep it and goes back in the drawer. After a certain amount of time I let the others go as obviously I’m not reaching for them. They get to go to someone who can use them instead of me hoarding them away from someone else. Every once in a while give to charity shops that don’t get as much as goodwill. Half my clothes come from Goodwill but the smaller places need donations too : )

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this video, but I did immensely. It's probably one of the first closets I've ever seen that actually looked REAL. Most look like TH-camr Glam closets that just got a little disorganized. Thanks for being REAL!
Your video helped me go through my clothes. I was so impressed with how you dealt with your stuff. I gathered all my clothes from the four corners, made sure the laundry was done (I was stalling). I knew I could never do it. I wouldn't let much go. Finally, it was the right day. I picked up the first item, I didn't really like it, so it went on the discard pile. The next item was too big, so on the discard pile. Then a few items I had worn recently and liked, on the keep pile. If it was a T-shirt or pullover, I folded it. I put the button-up shirts aside to try on at one time as a separate category. I had 5 white stretchy kitchen bags full to discard. I waited an hour or so. Then I started trying on. One shirt was too big...discard pile. Another big one, and another, a couple a little too snug...discard. In 20 minutes (or less) I was done. I had another 2 bags to get rid of. I also had a pile of special shirts that I plan to cut out 12" quilt squares which will yield another 2 bags. Plus I have a bag that's just trash. I ended up with a very small amount of clothes that feels like plenty. Thank you so much.
I would find a new spot for your wrapping paper box, I would put your maternity items in a big tote in the garage. I'm telling you this will make you feel like you have less clutter in your mind. The sweaters your grandma made you ARE BEAUTIFUL! Those are the sentimental items you never get rid of. Your prom dress is stunning and looks vintage. I'm glad you kept it sister
I agree, anything that is not part of your wardrobe should be out of your closet and stored somewhere else in you home (yoga stuff, breast pumps...maybe all the maternity stuff in one box in the top of closet). All the sentimental stuff is ok to keep but don't keep it with your main wardrobe. Also, Easter in only 1 day a year...lol
This is the best clear out I have seen ever, I mean, you are rootless and I like that. Most people get rid of two things and that's it, but you do know how to clear out. INSPIRATION!!!!!
Great to recommend others to reuse and thrift when possible. A few things I have learned from professional organizers and other declutter videos: Don't buy bins until you know what you need to store, then measure and buy what you need; Turn your hangers backwards to see what you are wearing within a season, and then forward when you wear the item. This will help you know what to declutter. Take notes on the things you get rid of and why. Are there colors you don't like, fits or styles you don't like and vice versa. Finally, you should fold your sweaters, so they maintain their shape. You made a lot of progress. Great work!
You inspired me to finally get rid of a big garbage bag of clothes that I've been putting off giving away for years. A lot of the clothes carry bad memories. Now I have lots of extra hangers to fill up with awesome things😆 Thank you for sharing!

I know you’ve probably already donated everything but, if not and as an FYI to your subscribers/viewers, many high schools have prom closets. They accept formal dresses and suits so students who may not be able to afford them can go shop there for free. Also, is that Nicholas Cage on your bed???!!!! 😂

Loved this video! Lol! Super entertaining, but also, ENCOURAGING in that you approach it with a sense of humor and with wisdom, in my opinion, because you did not pull everything out of your closet all at once and toss it onto your bed creating a VERY discouraging huge heap of chaos. But when you reduced your piles on the bed and the floor, you then brought the rest out from the closet, which is the same thing - but BETTER! It seems like a less overwhelming way to go about it when one has SO MUCH. Having so much and knowing that you HAVE TO take it ALL out at one time, per the konmari method, made me want to not even begin to start because honestly I thought I wouldn't be able to handle it. YOUR WAY showed me that I COULD MANAGE TO BEGIN!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Great Job! You need to now reverse your hangers and when you wear an item hang it back the normal way or direction, then in a few months go back through and donate the clothes left unworn and still hanging in reverse order. That’s really helped me. And when shopping stick to the rule, one piece of clothing in, one piece to donate pile. Have a great week.

I just finished my cleanout..over the span of a week 😝 I had so many clothes that at the end of the declutter I was very open to getting rid of pieces I wasn’t sure about, I cut off so many tags, realised how many clothes I had bought years ago and have not wore, which means I’ll probably never wear them, I still think I have way too many clothes, but hopefully each declutter will get easier 👍 props to you for being decisive and making this declutter actually enjoyable to watch
Yaaaaas. This is the first clean out where I'm so satisfied. I hate when people are like "I never wear this. And i never will, But I'm keeping it anyway" or there was one i watched where she said 'it's uncomfortable to wear, it's itchy and dosnt fit, I'm keeping it" like???? Love this video! I have the hardest time letting clothes go. The convicting moment for me was when you said, "maybe I will wear that in 6 moths. Maybe not". A lot of what I keep is because I think I will wear it in the next 6 month. The thing is, if I do it is because I made myself do it. Really it is time to get ruthless. Thank you for the motivation.

I've kept the sweater around for years now and have literally never worn it. I'm okay with letting it go - I have my old cheerleading uniform still though... not sure why- but that brings more memories than the sweater :) Thanks for hanging out It felt good to purge. :)

I just finished my cleanout..over the span of a week 😝 I had so many clothes that at the end of the declutter I was very open to getting rid of pieces I wasn’t sure about, I cut off so many tags, realised how many clothes I had bought years ago and have not wore, which means I’ll probably never wear them, I still think I have way too many clothes, but hopefully each declutter will get easier 👍 props to you for being decisive and making this declutter actually enjoyable to watch

Love this video! I have the hardest time letting clothes go. The convicting moment for me was when you said, "maybe I will wear that in 6 moths. Maybe not". A lot of what I keep is because I think I will wear it in the next 6 month. The thing is, if I do it is because I made myself do it. Really it is time to get ruthless. Thank you for the motivation.

Nooooo. You should have kept the HS cheerleading sweater, if for no other reason than sentimental value. I don't mean to be critical, but some day you are going to wish you had kept it. I'm only 5 minutes into your vid, but I can already tell that you are being too aggressive with your amputation.
I've kept the sweater around for years now and have literally never worn it. I'm okay with letting it go - I have my old cheerleading uniform still though... not sure why- but that brings more memories than the sweater :) Thanks for hanging out It felt good to purge. :)
