Great stuff, I am guessing that you guys got inspired by the VFX Artists React series from Corridor Crew. I like this style of videos, because it's entertaining and informative at the same time. I would love to see more of this for sure! Trailers I would love to see you breakdown next: Army of the Dead - Movie th-cam.com/video/tI1JGPhYBS8/w-d-xo.html Alien (1979) - Movie th-cam.com/video/jQ5lPt9edzQ/w-d-xo.html The Witcher 3 - Game th-cam.com/video/c0i88t0Kacs/w-d-xo.html
Hey Chris - These videos are great! You should definitely keep doing them. I really liked this trailer. I would also be really interested in seeing you do a breakdown of some of your personal all-time favorite trailers.
I love the deconstruction process of examining the sound and visual elements separately. Identifying the various techniques used to create pacing and tell a story are invaluable. More like this, please.
Chris, we make trailers in Brazil. We would like to thank you for sharing your knowledge on "film editing pro" course, it was really helpful for us. You are an amazing editor and teacher, thanks a lot.
This is the type of videos I've been longing to find on TH-cam! Hope you keep this up. Would love to see more! I think you could still analyse the trailer a bit more in depth, however. But I appreciate the fact you talk about the sound design since it's many times overlooked.
This information is so exciting to me and (much appreciated) working on incorporating more of these types of skills into my agency. Thank you, thank you, thank you
Great Video Chris! Yes, I would like to see more content like this! At the moment I can't think of any specific trailer to breakdown, but I guess you could hit all the genres like action, comedy, thriller, drama, horror.
Thanks for your insight and breakdown here Chris! Already taking advantage of what you provide through you newsletters/emails. Would love to see more breakdowns like this in the future!
I would definitely like to see more of this because it helps to learn what's good and works versus what might not for a trailer edit. Great work as always!
I absolutely love your tips and tricks videos! I actually watch them over several times 😁 They are exactly the reason why i enrolled into the beginner course and cant wait to learn as much as possible from you! Thank you! 🔥🔥
Very cool! Would love to see more. Wondering what you think of the new longer trailers? I thought this one would have been better if they'd cut basically the last half out, because it gave too much away.
I've been editing audio for 30+ years but video looks so much more fun 🤣 I wish I was 30 years younger. THIS is what I would focus my career on. Loved this video dude. Fun!
Great stuff as always, more please! As a composer and hobbyist editor (I did take your Trailer editing course a couple years ago and loved every minute of it!) I now see trailer editing and trailer scoring from the 2 points of view that combine very nicely. Always looking to improve on both. Please analyze more trailers.
Great deconstruction as always! I love Chris and the way he teaches this craft. Film Editing Pro and "The Art of Trailer Editing" is totally worth it!🖖
I’d love to see the trailer to the 3rd Maze Runner movie analysed. It’s the first time I can remember seeing film sound being used rhythmically and it’s stuck with me ever since. That would be a cool one to take a look at
Thanks Chris for this video, they are very helpful and full of good tips. A trailer that I saw recently was Creed 3 (the first version) I think is cut very well and tell what the plot of the movie is about.
Love this! Please do the same with the 'Prometheus' trailer. It's one of the best trailers and I feel like a lot of movies, including this one, is inspired by it.
I would love to see you do a breakdown of a really old trailer, and show the diferences between trailers then and now. Like original 1981 trailer for Raiders of the Lost Ark
Really great to hear your insight on this chris, look forward to more of these. I have a question. Would a professional trailer editor get access to the entire film footage library to create a trailer how they see fit or are they only given specific pieces along with a brief on what the studio is looking for? Thanks in advance.
Typically the full movie in rough form. Sometimes when the trailer cutting begins very early in the film’s production the trailer editor will be working from dailies/rushes. That is uncommon though.
This is/was great! More, please! How about the new John Wick? New Mission Impossible? My wife and I are gonna go see "65" as soon as it opens in Sydney AU here.
Great question. There’s a lot to discuss there but short answer is professional libraries like Alibi, Hi-Finesse, Position Music and others. Regarding how to use them, that’s a much longer answer!
Saw this trailer (for the second time in a theater) last night and what struck me was the departure from having to put a sound effect on everything that normally occurs in modern trailers. I was torn between "is this a mistake?" and "it's kind of cool".
Hi, I'm your online student in South Korea and I want to know could you let us know about 'the rules of filmmaking'. It would be useful for editor like me who are not movie majors. And I love this style of video as well. Thanks.
Hey Chris - I’m curious as to what you think about the new trailer for FAST X. Not only did they drop a trailer that is almost 4 minutes long, they dropped nine completely new “legacy” trailers for all the films in the Fast & Furious franchise. Do you think this is the beginning of a new trend that is here to stay?
Hey! I can’t speak to the legacy trailers but regarding the 4 min version, each studio is allowed one “exception” trailer per year, which can be longer than 2:30 for theater use. It sounds like this was their annual exception.
Parts of the trailer were a bit too repetitive for me especially the sounds. But that could also be because I am tired and at the end of my work week. Please keep doing these it is interesting to see the different techniques. Do you edit in Premiere Pro only?
Hey Chris, your videos are amazing as always! If you thing that this trailer would make sense to analyse, I would like to hear your opinion: Hereditary (2018). Please keep up with the videos like this. Cheers!
Hey. I'm from India. And I love your videos. They're very good. I want to do the Film Editing pro course but for some reason the transaction Is getting failed. So Can you do something about it, please.
I enjoyed this video a lot! Like all your content actually. I would love to watch even more to learn techniques for visuals and audio editing in various trailers. About this one: I was pumped to see the movie until they revealed the fights with dinosaurs. Not so exciting anymore, IMO.
Could you analyze The Fabelmans trailer? It is one of the most emotive and yaw-dropping trailers I´ve seen. This version in particular: th-cam.com/video/PSpWKovHFf8/w-d-xo.html
Really enjoyed this tutorial and would love to see more like this - great trailer too! Here's a spot / trailer that has always been a favourite of mine: th-cam.com/video/WVLvMg62RPA/w-d-xo.html would like to know what you think (no doubt you've seen it). I think it's a perfect example of cutting on the beat. It would be good to watch you discuss spots too, especially the common 30 sec ones. Thank you again for your amazing work! Can't wait to see more.
Wow. This was super fun! Thank you guys for sharing your expertise. I'd definitely love to watch more videos like this. Hi Chris/Team, I am still waiting for the avid media composer course from you 😞
This is really good info.
All of your content is great! I’d personally cut out a bit content in this trailer as it seemed too long for my taste.
This is by far the best channel I found so far related to pro film.
