It could have been very popular. At that time medical dramas were very popular. Marcus Welby, Medical Center, Emergency, The Bold Ones, etc.

That would have been an interesting show premise. Like you mentioned, there could have been guest stars from Star Trek. There would have been the possibility of crossovers. I think a crossover (one, anyway--not like Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 where you have to watch both just to follow a story) would have provided the writers with the chance to do quite an engrossing story. There were many Star Trek episodes in which a calamity or disaster occurred. We often heard that Starfleet would be sending relief ships or follow up missions. Hopeship would have provided the opportunity to see both sides of the coin.
Medical dramas are extremely popular. An SF medical show would really have been cool.

Yes, a sci-fi medical drama could prove very interesting!

Despite being a Star Trek fan, I had never heard of this potential spin-off. Would've been great to see that.

Solid content! I wish Paramount Canada had the "new" series for streaming..... Go figure lol

In Canada 🇨🇦 I watch it on Crave's basic streaming service, (CTV). Also, Picard and Discovery.

This is very interesting to me. My name is Dean Calin and some of my material was used in the Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual published by Ballantine Books in 1977.
I'm not sure how it is being pronounced in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, but I believe one does not pronounce M'Benga as ma-BENG-ah, but mm-BENG-ah. That is contemporary Bantu pronunciation; certainly Trek can apply any linguistic rules for the 23rd century!

The pronunciation of "M'Benga" isn’t consistent between The Original Series and Strange New Worlds. I went off the way it's said in TOS, as that felt most relevant to this video.

A show with 2 black leads in the 1960’s???? They would never be able to broadcast the show in the southern states and the studio knew that and nixed the idea.
