Hi Sam, all structures expand and contract, it's natural. Most of the change is thermal, some is due to wind movement. This very tall tower will definitely move and due to it's geometry it probably twists and it will increase in height when it is in direct sun-light. We don't know the exact amounts, you would have to ask Arup engineers! They are usually very small movements and not noticeable to You or Me.
Steven, as a point of clarification, the Burj Khalifa is an office tower and we agree it is taller than the Canton Tower. For the Tokyo Sky Tree, it is not yet built so the Canton Tower remains as the worlds tallest Communication Tower. Of course, all of these titles are great fun to debate.

Hi, this simulation was produced using Maya animation software. The models were built in 3D CAD. The video is a few years old and it wasn't possible to use Revit at that time.
I saw a video with navisworks and revit architecture. To make a video like the canton tower you have to put the projekt in 3ds max. look in autodesk channel. there was the video. I will also look for it too.

what happens to the tower crane in the middle of the Canton Tower? How do they take it apart if it is integrated within the building?

Hello. For the simulation you can use Autodesk Navisworks Manage or RIB iTwo 5D.
