I don't know if you realized what happened to the last guy, but in case you are curious, he got the relic that gives armor but reduces speed per level, which is alright on normal mode, but on endless you eventually end up barely able to move or dodge, i've seen it happen to a few youtubers already.
Honestly every time I get Offensive Defensive, movement speed buffs start turning up at every 2nd or 3rd level up anyway, and 1% movement buff offsets 4 levels worth of movement debuff, if you're using Joined Protection (Armor for every level up). So for me, Offensive Defensive is just pure bonus because it's easy to stay fast anyway, unless I die right away after taking it.
There was a point about half way through the 5th round where I thought it might be getting too crazy and surely wouldn't go much further... then I checked the video length and there was STILL AN HOUR LEFT! What a run with staying alive.
The devs have said that the move speed upgrades have stopped dropping due to a bug, so getting the offensive defense that lowers your speed for damage is a trap right now. That's why 'the assistant' kept dying, he was too slow.
Purple is Thunder (Lightning + Lightning). The luck relic doesn't work if you don't have a reroll left. Always save one reroll until you've had the luck relic trigger 10 times. If you don't have a reroll left you don't take it. Also, in general, your priorities on any endless game should be the following, IN THIS ORDER: Luck, XP Boost, Armor, Dodge, Crit Chance, Global Cooldown, Global Damage, everything else. So you take luck as your first priority, because it soft caps at around 26-28, and you want it capped as early as possible to ensure you get way better cards for the rest of the game, and because you would like to hit that cap before you take the luck Relic, IF you're going to take the luck Relic at all, because that way you can push luck to 36-38. Then Armor, for the early game survivability and later game damage. Dodge is next because it's the only defense that will keep you alive in later runs, and with an 80% cap it's very effective. Then Crit Chance because Crit Chance is actually a better damage multiplier than global damage. Then global cooldown because global cooldown multiplies every other source of damage. Then global damage. Then everything else. IF you take Offensive Defensive, Movement Speed suddenly becomes a huge priority and should be taken ahead of Crit Chance, Global Damage, etc. Defensive upgrades are more important than offense for endless. You can get dodge to 80%. Armor is only important IF you intend to take Offensive Defensive. Otherwise strike it from the list because by loop 6 or so you're gonna be one shot by anything that hits you anyway. That said, you SHOULD take Offensive Defensive and Joined Protection (1% armor for each levelup) and/or the +10% armor from each completed objective (So 40% per loop), and as many Armor powerups from the level up cards as you can before it stops offering them (It's a soft-capped stat, the game lowers the probability of Armor cards the more armor you have, and effectively stops giving it at a point). The reason for that is that it's the biggest damage boost you can get in the game, and damage is king for surviving the high waves. You have to start killing everything so fast that nothing can get close enough to ever damage you. The best tool for this is actually Aether Beam because you can give it absurd range easily. But that's why Armor comes before Dodge in your priorities, even though it's not a defensive stat in the long run: It caps out really early and getting either armor on level or armor on objective completion will make armor cards stop appearing, so you want to soft cap it early for the damage advantage it gives you later. In general, I would recommend taking both armor on level and armor on objective completion, and Offensive Defensive. Which means you skip the luck Relic. If your'e going to take the Luck relic then drop Joined Protection (Armor on level) for it, because you're not going to level past 200, and you'll get 200 armor from armor on objective in 5 loops, and it keeps giving more forever. But having both is optimal for your damage output. As a final point: Ice is great for endless, but crap for co-op. It's the one element that actually hurts your teammates (By slowing them down). If you intend to heal at all, you need to skip it, and you ABSOLUTELY should never take ice on anything with big range like Falling Stars, or Aether Beam, when you're playing multiplayer.
@@ihavecrabs56 Simple answer is that Lightning is always the best for everything because you want every spell to have either White Lightning, Plasma, or Sulfurstorm on them eventually. The reason for that is simply that adding AoE makes everything better, and spreading effects like acid, burn, and slow is just obviously great. The main thing to keep in mind is that you want ALL of those three elemental combos represented in your spell set, ideally. White lightning to slow everything down, Sulfurstorm to make everything take extra damage, and Plasma to set everything on fire. Slightly longer answer is that you want to aim for White Lightning on spells that are going to spread the effect as widely as possible, and ideally based on distance from you, so things like Solar Pulse and Aether Beam are great for it (The run where I got bored at 14 loops was White Lightning on Aether Beam and a lot of range upgrades. Enemies were dying mostly off screen). But if you're playing co-op you probably *don't* want it on Solar Pulse, and if you put it on an aimed spell like Aether Beam you want to NOT take the healing Augment for that spell because Aether Beam will only target friendlies if it has that augment, and you do not want to be applying slow to your buddies. Sulfurstorm is another that you want to be applying as widely as possible. Acid is great, but it doesn't stack, so hitting an enemy with it repeatedly is sort of a waste. Good on Falling Stars, Arcane Orbs, Rune Burst, etc. Decent on Solar Pulse. Plasma is technically better on slow, high damage attacks than on rapid, low damage attacks, because the burn effect scales based on the damage of the attack that inflicted it. So it works best on things like Arcane Broadsword, the daggers (I always forget their name), Falling Star, etc. Less good on things like Solar Pulse and Aether Beam that hit rapidly. That *said*, it's not *bad* on a fast hitting spell, just suboptimal.
@@kellymurphy1098 so fire is good on slow, hard hitting spells. im going to assume thats because the fire dot doesnt stack upon itself, it only refreshes the dot timer? ice is good on low range dots to stack towards the freezing threshold (and ccing near u is more beneficial). acid seems to be best on spells that target highest health targets to lower their defenses. and what about lightning? does that scale off of your spells damage like you said fire does? or is it better on a dot to constantly apply the aoe?
@@ihavecrabs56 Yeah, fire doesn't stack, and I've read that there are some potential issues with fast attacks making the burn not trigger because you keep applying it too fast, but I can't confirm that. But since it doesn't stack but does scale with the host spell's damage, it's best on big hitters. Ice is good on long range things too, just not in co-op. Though it depends somewhat, if it's long range, not AoE and doesn't target friendlies (Like Aether Beam without healing augment) then it's fine for co-op too. You do want it on something that's prioritizing the closest enemies if possible, as those are the ones you most want to slow, but something like maxed out Aether Beams with white lightning ensure nothing gets close at all, because they keep freezing them at long range and then killing them before they can get close. Acid doesn't stack, and doesn't actually do any additional damage of its own. It just makes the enemy take more damage from everything else that hits it while the acid effect lasts. So it's really ideal to be applying it to everything. The absolute ideal for it would be a spell that just hits everything on the screen every couple seconds, but that doesn't exist, so I tend to like it on things that are just going to spread it everywhere, which does mean that you REALLY want it paired with lightning so that you can spread the acid even further. Anything that's going to be hitting tons of enemies is good for it. So Falling Star (When you have lots of additional projectiles), Arcane Orbs when you've got multiple Split augments, etc. Lightning scales off damage, but it's just good on everything. It's a straight damage add as well as additional AoE. But most importantly it's a force multiplier when combined with any other element. That's why if you see lightning offered for a spell that doesn't have it, you take it. More or less every time.
@@kellymurphy1098 ok i think i understand. the dots prefer ice and the nukes prefer fire is what im gathering... i do have another question though. if i am applying fire from two separate spells, does that mean the targets is taking two instances of my fire dot? or only one? id like to know for acid and ice as well. does 2 spells applying acid to the same target reduce their defense twice the amount? will ice stack faster with 2 ice spells? or will they stack ice separately, meaning that i could potentially be applying the frozen status while they are already frozen(not ideal but could lead to permafreeze potentially if the dots ticks fast enough lol)
If you're playing true endless, there's no reason to worry about whether your spell choices need a lot of augments or not. I've been to loop 14 on hardcore, and even then I only quit because I got bored. By the end you'll always have every spell run out of augments.
I prefer getting explosions first when playing falling stars. That AoE genuinely helps more than just one extra drop. Lightning i believe is also its best first infuse.
