I feel like the S is such an underrated value. I tend to game on a monitor most of the time these days and if it weren't for my old physical library I think the S would have been the better choice for me
I felt that way when I bought it at launch when it comes to physical. Thing is, I was on a PS4 and never got an XB1 last gen. Most of the great games on that system (xb1) are on Game Pass, and in the 360 days Games with Gold was pretty damn good. My 1st day library was pretty decent, games sales are awesome, and USB SSD's can be pretty cheap and reliable if you look. Would have gotten an X, but content with saving a few bucks and getting the S and a PS5.
10gb that’s ddr6 at 300 is insane… even the xsx and ps5 have ram 16gb with that ddr6 a speed you don’t even see high end pcs with most are ddr5 or 4 at most and yet at 500 dollars that’s insane. The Xbox’s s and x can emulate pretty dam well too!
the series s is extremely underrated. the value for money is insane and there is minimum graphical difference in series x/s games. i got mine launch day and its one of my best purchases yet

My PC has 4TB of Nvme storage because I'm an enthusiast/builder, but the built in storage of my fiancée's series S is never an issue because she doesn't play the games with huge file sizes like CoD Warzone. For anyone that plays games on a 1080p 120hz/1440p 120hz (or even a 60hz 4k TV), the series S is an amazing budget pick. The 512gb SSD is a limiting factor if you play more than 5 bigger games simultaneously, but it isn't an issue for most casual gamers. However, the Seagate expansion slots are terrible value, so if anyone NEEDS the storage, Series X is definitely the way to go. If you compare the performance of a Series S with the equivalent PC, you will see how crazy it is to say the Series S isn't some of the most incredible value we have ever seen in the world of tech.

Comparing Series S with Series X/PS5, I believe the latter consoles do provide more values over Series S. I think Series S is good as an entry console but if you are wanting a more future proofed console, Series X/PS5 are going to provide much more now and even in the future.

For people that already have 120hz+ PC monitors at 1080p and 1440p, the series S makes a lot of sense. My fiancée uses one on one of my old 1080p 144hz monitors and gets solid framerates with very good visuals for the £200 I paid for the series S, plus she can use my game pass ultimate subscription for no extra cost. It doesn't look bad on a 4k 60hz TV after upscaling (depending on game), but if you played on a 4k TV primarily, I would definitely spring for the extra GPU power of the X. No console is future proof, just like no PC system is. You should just buy depending on the display output you have available. 1080p is 4 times easier to run than 4k, so having 3 times less GPU power isn't an issue (especially when the CPU is very similar).
It's a common misconception that Series S can only render up to 1440p but actually there are many less demanding titles that play at 4k native. Hades, Ori, Mass Effect Legendary. Good video overall.
I love the monolithic approach to the Xbox designs this generation. They blend well with almost any room you put them in, can be comfortably oriented in multiple ways, and they have a generous amount of perforations for airflow. Simple, clean, and elegant.
I know it's not a super demanding game, but a really good game/games to check out would be the Ori games(Ori and the Blind Forest, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps). Very beautiful and insanely well optimized on all the Xbox consoles.
I always dig the series S/X unboxings. Say what you will about MS, but it's obvious that they put a fair amount of thought into what an unboxing will feel like. I like little quality of life things like that.

It really is amazing how good the graphics look in Flight Sim. Interestingly, the graphics look similar between the Series X and S. I own the series X and the biggest difference by far seems to be resolution. Everything else looks quite similar, which is amazing all things considered.
Series X doubles the distance distance draw, but I do believe that there is a performance vs visuals on both consoles that changes the framerate for some visual clarity. I am using 7700K, GTX 1070, but I was considering series s/x as between crypto mining and COVID stuff GPU are hard to get a hold of, unless you use memory express or other online retailer, but pricing is still stupid.
The series x version seems to get very similar performance to the PC version running on my laptop at 4K. (Intel i7 with an RTX 2070). It would be awesome if they enabled mod support on the console versions!
S is great but the x has 6 more gigs of ram that’s definitely a difference and it has a bit more difference with other parts of its chip that are faster than the s as well
I have Xbox series x and a switch, since I spend more time on Xbox I’ve changed the buttons on switch, if you play more on switch I recommend changing the buttons in the accessories settings on Xbox , so when the screens says press Y, you would press the button you take as being Y on switch.
While your waiting for a 30 series GPU, the Series S is a great choice to pass the time. The reason I jumped on Xbox is for a feature that is heavily underrated and that is Play Anywhere. It's the only console where you get games that give you two copies for the Xbox and PC so when you upgrade your PC you won't have to purchase a separate PC copy of the game. It really puts other greedy publishers and Sony's take on "Dual Entitlement" to shame.
My problem with Microsoft will be their overly DRM obsessed policies. I many times like buying physical games because i like owning games fully and not need internet connection to play etc. With Xbox that is impossible while Sony and Nintendo offer that so i always end up buying my games for Sony and Nintendo consoles. For digital services like their Game Pass then they are fine but not for actually buying games. That probably means that if you don't care that much about the power of the Xbox Series X then you are probably better of buying this one here because there isn't much point in buying a disk for an Xbox console.
@@SIPEROTH I wouldn't worry about it, unless you typically play without internet, that isn't a major issue you should consider when buying games. If you're internet does go down for weeks, you can always connect with your phone so that whatever your console needs it gets through your phone service. It really isn't a big deal

Got mine a few days ago and it was my first xbox too I have a ps5 but the series s still looks great playing halo and forza especially and I got like 5 months of games pass for like 16 bucks
You're one console away from having almost the same collection as me 😂 I have a v2 Switch, a Series S and a DS Lite. Really good combination because it lets me play a huge library of games. The only noteworthy things missing are online PC games (CS:GO for example) and PS exclusives. But I don't really play online games anymore and there are very few PS exclusives which interest me. So those 3 consoles have me covered for the most part.
I bought a Series S. My solution for the storage problem is a 2TB HDD. I bought one from Seagate, the Xbox branded one, because it was on sale for 60€. I only install X/S enhanced games on the internal storage, everything else goes to the external HDD as it's playable from there. I even store some X/S enhanced games on the external HDD just because it's faster to move them from the HDD to the internal storage, than to reload the game. Assassins Creed Valhalla for example takes under 10 minutes to transfer from the internal SSD to the external HDD. Next Gen feeling with enough storage for the price of a nintendo switch OLED.
Hi Ella, great video. Even on PC you'll need to download the World packs to get the best looking visuals. They're about 100 GB total, and only covers select parts of the world .. Paris, New York, Japan, etc.

As someone a lot older than you, I have been gaming since the 70s. The first 2 Mass Effect games are probably my favorites of all time. The first ones story totally blew my mind. The first 3 have been remastered, and are on game pass. I dont hold the same respect for the last one, although discounting the ending, the rest of it wasnt a bad game at all. If you are into RPGs, Fallout 3 and Vegas were good titles. IIRC the autosave function will lock the game up so turn it off, but be sure to save often. I cant comment on FO 4 as I have yet to play thru it....backlogs anyways. So enjoy your new system.
Control was game of the year and is on Game Pass for another few weeks. Also if you like comic book games. Guardian of the Galaxy is my fav Xbox game I have played. It has great combat but the story is so fun an dthe banter and dialog kept me laughing and playing.
Welcome to Xbox Ella! Remember with Game Pass you can also stream games, both on console, and handheld devices, as long as you have an internet connection. Can come in handy when you don't want to wait for an install. And if you have to start an installation, you can also start it from the app even when you're away from the console. Also, the graphics are pretty much the same on Series X. Because MSFS stimulates the entire planet Earth, most cities are pretty low res, but try flying over some monuments like the pyramids or Mount Everest. They look great.
Amazing console for the price and just the fact that it’s available and you don’t need to over pay for a console is awesome. You can take it anywhere and have your games with you.
I don't own any gaming systems but I still enjoyed watching the unboxing of your new XBOX. The flight simulator looks really cool but agree that the details in the graphics should look a little better. Enjoy Ella!

If you have a monitor that 1440p and 120hrz+ get an HDMI 2.1 cable for your Series S and you will be outputting to it's Max capabilities. I highly recommend that you do that. You can play games that are capable like Vanguard etc that run 1440p @120fps which the Series S is very capable of.
Hi! Great video! I just got one bc of the Holiday pricing! I also have a Switch OLED, and they compliment each other quite nicely! An underrated gem on PC and Xbox is Phantom Dust. It was re-release for free a few years ago.
Some people bash on the Series S. They say it isn’t a next gen system. It does everything just like the Series X does. The only difference is of course it is not as powerful. But there is a reason why they call it Series S, it’s a next gen console too. Love your videos and I just subscribed to your channel
This Xbox in my opinion is so affordable than the expensive Xbox Series X but I have a game I think you will love, it’s called Chicken Little, it’s a original Xbox game that came out in the 2000’s, and it’s based off the Disney movie that came out in 2005 or something like that, I think it is a game I would recommend for you to check out :)

About the buttons thing yeah that happened to me when I first tried xbox (because im used to playstation) lol you just gotta get used to it because muscle memory is used to the other button layout.
im gonna say for the downloads speeds and times, who remembers keeping their xbox 360 on all night just to install black ops 1 or 2 dlc that where 1 gig in size in 2011 or 12. the xbox 360 only could use 58 mbps downloads ,fat 32 file format at 5mb of data a second with sata 1 speeds. the slim in 2010 had sata 2 still fat32.

This is my first console too! I got mine 3 days ago and let me tell you it will not disapoint you im going on a trip soon and it is VERY mobile the condo im staying in has a tv and i can easily hook up HDMI and plug in the outlet i was not disapointed with my purchase i recomend buying this!
For xbox games pretty much all their first party games are amazing and backward compatible. An xbox and 360 game Fusion Frenzy 1 and 2 are great party games. Mech Assault 2 and Hunter the Reckoning original xbox games that work on 360, one, s and x. Still counting the minutes for Kung Fu Chaos to become backward compatible. I am holding out for the Xbox Series T (Series S Tray edition because most of my games are hard copy).
Halo, Forza horizon 5, Ori and the blind forest and ori and the will of the wisps, hellblade senua's sacrifice and psychonauts 2 are some of my favourite exclusives. Others include Hades (absolutely spectacular game), deaths door, and the mass effect trilogy
Forza, sea of thieves, cyberpunk 2077 are games that you should try, also the game pass is worth trying out where you can play all of the Xbox games for free and even cloud gaming

It might be surprising but i still play the Xbox one alot more since it has all my games on it and at least 50% of my games were discs and it costs alot to get them digitally since most of them are rarely on sale and when they are i also have to keep a eye on the internal storage.
Depending on what games you like Forza horizon 5 and Gears 5 really showcase the consoles power, Halo infinite mainly because of it being a iconic franchise, but definently checking out gamepass and looking at all the games that ate offered on there.
I got mine about a month and a half ago. The system is awesome! Since it was my first console as well I feel like that's why I was so easily wowed because I had no expectations. The main games I play is Fortnite, Forza 5, I bought GTA 5 but I haven't played it as much.
Switch button placement is meant to resemble snes placement and many games with better graphics than flight sim exist like halo infinite and forza horizon five

If you like FPS games, you should check out the Halo games. They're all playable on the Series S (and some of them on PC as well).

Just so you know, you can use a keyboard and mouse with a lot of games if you're not happy with the controller. GamePass is a must!
As someone a lot older than you, I have been gaming since the 70s. The first 2 Mass Effect games are probably my favorites of all time. The first ones story totally blew my mind. The first 3 have been remastered, and are on game pass. I dont hold the same respect for the last one, although discounting the ending, the rest of it wasnt a bad game at all.
If you are into RPGs, Fallout 3 and Vegas were good titles. IIRC the autosave function will lock the game up so turn it off, but be sure to save often. I cant comment on FO 4 as I have yet to play thru it....backlogs anyways.

Control was game of the year and is on Game Pass for another few weeks. Also if you like comic book games. Guardian of the Galaxy is my fav Xbox game I have played. It has great combat but the story is so fun an dthe banter and dialog kept me laughing and playing.

Can come in handy when you don't want to wait for an install. And if you have to start an installation, you can also start it from the app even when you're away from the console. Also, the graphics are pretty much the same on Series X. Because MSFS stimulates the entire planet Earth, most cities are pretty low res, but try flying over some monuments like the pyramids or Mount Everest. They look great.

If you have a monitor that 1440p and 120hrz+ get an HDMI 2.1 cable for your Series S and you will be outputting to it's Max capabilities. I highly recommend that you do that. You can play games that are capable like Vanguard etc that run 1440p @120fps which the Series S is very capable of.
Hades, the Ori games, psychonauts 2, any gears/Halo are a good place to start.
You have one of the best consoles!! The best one is the series x but this is so small that you can travel with it everywhere 😍

Some people bash on the Series S. They say it isn’t a next gen system. It does everything just like the Series X does. The only difference is of course it is not as powerful. This Xbox in my opinion is so affordable than the expensive Xbox Series X but I have a game I think you will love, it’s called Chicken Little, it’s a original Xbox game that came out in the 2000’s, and it’s based off the Disney movie that came out in 2005 or something like that, I think it is a game I would recommend for you to check out :)

About the buttons thing yeah that happened to me when I first tried xbox (because im used to playstation) lol you just gotta get used to it because muscle memory is used to the other button layout.
Bought these little machine when dying lights2 came out. Have it in my room more than enough. Then living room my gaming pc for any extra times.
im gonna say for the downloads speeds and times, who remembers keeping their xbox 360 on all night just to install black ops 1 or 2 dlc that where 1 gig in size in 2011 or 12. the xbox 360 only could use 58 mbps downloads ,fat 32 file format at 5mb of data a second with sata 1 speeds. the slim in 2010 had sata 2 still fat32.
Great video, I would recommend getting the game pass (there are always special offers about to try it for cheap) so you can experience a wide array of games for one cost

This is my first console too! I got mine 3 days ago and let me tell you it will not disapoint you im going on a trip soon and it is VERY mobile the condo im staying in has a tv and i can easily hook up HDMI and plug in the outlet i was not disapointed with my purchase i recomend buying this!
For xbox games pretty much all their first party games are amazing and backward compatible. An xbox and 360 game Fusion Frenzy 1 and 2 are great party games. Mech Assault 2 and Hunter the Reckoning original xbox games that work on 360, one, s and x. Still counting the minutes for Kung Fu Chaos to become backward compatible. I am holding out for the Xbox Series T (Series S Tray edition because most of my games are hard copy).

Forza, sea of thieves, cyberpunk 2077 are games that you should try, also the game pass is worth trying out where you can play all of the Xbox games for free and even cloud gaming

It might be surprising but i still play the Xbox one alot more since it has all my games on it and at least 50% of my games were discs and it costs alot to get them digitally since most of them are rarely on sale and when they are i also have to keep a eye on the internal storage.
Depending on what games you like Forza horizon 5 and Gears 5 really showcase the consoles power, Halo infinite mainly because of it being a iconic franchise, but definently checking out gamepass and looking at all the games that ate offered on there.
Sea of Thieves is a pretty good Xbox exclusive game! I'd recommend lookin up some gameplay, it can be relaxing just sailing away into the horizon.

I got mine about a month and a half ago. The system is awesome! Since it was my first console as well I feel like that's why I was so easily wowed because I had no expectations. The main games I play is Fortnite, Forza 5, I bought GTA 5 but I haven't played it as much.
Switch button placement is meant to resemble snes placement and many games with better graphics than flight sim exist like halo infinite and forza horizon five
