Thanks for watching! The trip is not actually over, we still got some fight in us - join us next Wednesday for an episode chocked full of emotion. As always, if you like our stuff please subscribe and spread the word!
damn, watching this episode i allways thought, ok there will be a freak accident (which happened 3 times, tooth, sickness and canoo disaster). But none of them made you quit. So glad you guys got over the difficulties and that the title is actually wrong :D
Burning the bug suit and then showing Noah's temples loool! Couldn't have illustrated the importance of that better. So glad you had a backup net. The crater... What a sight. A+ as always guys.
Backcountry Angling Ontario I’ve always brought an extra bug net. Not for when I burn mine, but as a bargaining token for when a buddy forgets his. This episode gives me another reason to keep that thing stashed in the pack.
I used to work in mineral exploration up by Nain at Tasisuak Lake. Beautiful country! Lots of bears! Labradorite is the calcium end of the plagioclase feldspar series. That’s what’s gives it the blueish colour. Awesome trip guys and great editing on the videos. Loved them!
Hope Esquif gives you guys some love for the best endorsement on their product. Wrapped that boat pretty hard and still pushed on to the end. Well done boys!
You guys have done an amazing journey(not over at this point) and it reminds me that trekking into the unknown is about dealing with pain and stress and you have to embrace it otherwise you are done. This was one of the challenges faced by the English during the Franklin expedition and the Inuit called it perfectly by commenting that the English didn't know how to starve, which was a normal condition for the indigenous peoples in the Arctic. My wifes ancestor was Chief Factor James Anderson and he was tasked by Lady Franklin to go in search of the Franklin expedition and his diary account of the trip to the Back(fish) river is astounding. I found a copy of it in my late father in laws records and it blew my away. The contrast between how the indigenous peoples travelled the country and the Europeans methods are staggeringly different. The natives travlled light and fast while the Brits dragged heavy sledges laden with over a ton of food and gear and overloaded birch canoes. The search actually found the Franklin expedition. Some of the team saw masts poking out of the water but because it was so late in the season they were afraid that if they told Anderson they would lose the weather and perish in the cold, so they kept it to themselves and it was only many years later that the story came out. No paper canoes for you guys. If that had been a FRP canoe the result would be quite different.👍👍
I watched this series. YeR ago and just felt like I wanted to see it again. Its beautiful, lonely and real. I can’t help but feel sorry for Alex here. He has to have felt it was somehow his fault but of course it wasn’t. Can’t fight that River.
Man. I thought for sure the canoe was a write off when I seen it wrapped around that rock. I can’t believe it survived and you were able to carry on. Unreal!
Pinning the canoe and slipping on the rocks are two reminders that safety is of utmost importance. The way they travel in the Yukon is you travel such that you reach your destination, how long it takes is irrelevant. Those experiences you had probably focused your mind a little more clearly. Definitely humbling to the ego but an education for the mind. Great video, great adventure and a group that was able to absorb the ups and downs of a wilderness expedition.
The entire series from top to bottom was incredible.... wish there was more, I could watch a hundred more, I don’t know how you can top it in your lifetime 👏👏👏👏
Thank you for these videos. The way you all challenge negativity during your journey is incredibly inspiring. Because things do get tough, ARE tough, but there's always something to look forward to. Even if it's just a change in the breeze. Cheers :)
Wow....your grit and determination is humbling.....when you think “that’s it” - “it’s all over”, a canoe is lost. You calmly pick yourselves up, dust yourselves down .... and regroup. Well done all of you, I’m very impressed by your spirit, at the heart must lie friendship. Who’s tougher that canoe or you guys?! Labradorite?? The glazed appearance? Does that represent or signify Intense heat.... is there a connection to the meteor strike? Can’t wait for next week 👏👏👏🙏👍
Labradorite is considered a jewel. I have one polished stone necklace from a place in Bancroft years ago, and now I know someone who has a bathroom counter made of it. Gorgegous.
My heart stopped just watching your canoe go under and bend. I can’t believe it survived. I felt so sorry for Noah, glad your feeling better. Alex, your accident with the bug net hat catching 🔥 could have been really bad. Dave your poor tooth. Chris hang in there.
On the edge of my seat and holding my breath. That episode was incredible! So glad you are all okay. LOVED the music especially leading up to the canoe wrap.
I was on the edge of my chair watching this episode. It must have been really rough enduring all the pain and suffering that you guys went through. It is a testament to your resolve to see this trip through to the end. The Labradorite reminds me a little like finding Jade or Opal with the colour and such. I hope you brought a few samples home with you. You never know it may be quite valuable to maybe sell and finance your next adventure, I have to say that I am totally amazed with that canoe as I thought that it had actually split in two when you where showing one shot of it when it was on the rock. Looking forward to the next episode especially with the teaser you posted in your comment.:-) Tom
Holy hell boys! Thanks for the reminder to take our time. Stoked for the next episode ever since Noah was on Under The Yoke dropping the big teaser of some sorta moment that happened at the lake.
The whole scene leading up to the pinned canoe was really well done. The editing and music conveyed a real sense of peril. I knew what was coming, but the reality of how quickly things went south and knowing how high the stakes are; it was terrifying to watch. That could have easily been me at some point out in the bush. Glad to see how the Esquif held up, gives me a little comfort having a T-Formex canoe myself. Really great stuff boys! Looking forward to the next one.
Wow what a trip guys!! seeing you four do this is so inspiring. When Noah got caught up on the rock and I saw the canoe buckle my heart sunk. You guys put together such beautiful pieces of work, please keep it coming! Stay safe!
What a sick feeling to have that happened. But you came out ok. Glad Noah got better. Except bug bites. Another great video Labradorite looks like mica
Wow, a lot of emotions going on in this episode all for good reason. Nice to know how much those boats can take and still be usable. I was taught if there is any doubt about the rapids, take the trail. No one ever drowned on a portage. That day could have been a lot worse than it was. Happy all turned out ok. Thank you for all the effort you've put into this film, it's been great! Take care all four of you!
The boys must of recovered the gear you lost from below? I was a little more than worried when seeing it all float away! Hard day but forever a memory that will hold four friends together through anything. It is an epic adventure that should go into the history books. Now waiting for the next episode ! love..
Episode très touchant sur la solidarité entre boys et la détermination à toute épreuve de l'équipe à faire face à des situations difficiles , je vous lève mon chapeau les gars 🙏 . Thanks for that powerful human video , it will follow me in my dreams tonight for sure
Watched this one with no small amount of trepidation after seeing the preview pic. I hope you guys realize the good you are doing for all of us during these troubled times. There are many lessons to be learned here, perseverance being one of them. Cheers!
What's absolutely amazing is to think about is that Northern Labrador is only 1000 miles away, right here in North America....yet it feels as far away and hard to reach as Burma or Laos.
Way to come out of it guys. There is no better lesson in the wilderness then to be humbled. To learn this and to be reminded every once in a while helps us to come to terms with our place in the world. Highly recommend you guys wear helmets while lining the canoes on those rocks. Super dangerous as you know. Otherwise great accomplishment. Cheers to your success in this episode.
All these years of flying between UK and Canada many of the flights seem to first hit land over Labrador. I have often looked down and wondered what it was like. Now I know! This is totally engrossing TH-cam.
This whole series has been great. Really rekindled our interest in canoeing. Even after watching you wrap the canoe!. Would like to see how you did the canoe retrieval. Great teamwork!
You guys have done a terrific job. I recently tried using Patagonia Tractor Boots for wading canoes and the energy saved in sure-footedness is great. The boots have aluminum plates on the bottom which sticks to the wet rocks. There is a learning curve with them but can be a game changer
Absolutely awesome! OMG, thought you guys were done for when I saw the damage to the canoe, couldn't believe you popped it back out and carried on. Luck or the Labrador gods were on your side. lol Thanks for sharing!
That is so cool you made it there. I know of this lake, but it's not what I expected. I had an image in my mind that it would be almost like a wide river around and island, and not a huge lake like that. Can't wait to see you explore it a bit. Love the music in this episode too btw.
I had to fast forward at 15:33 to 18:46. Too many bugs! How you guys can take off your protection baffles me. Thanks for the series. I watched (almost) all of it. :-)
You guys did a fine job on the boat wrap. You recovered your outfit, and got your boat unpinned. I wish you would have filmed how you did that. Z-drag? You had a lot of boat visible and stayed close to shore which was good too. There’s no shame in pinning a boat, getting bested by a river that’s been moving since the beginning of time, leaving a boat because you don’t have the skills to recover it, there’s a little bit of shame in that. I don’t know how to attach a photo of how MAINE Guides tie in gear, but it’s rock solid, I just don’t know how to send it to you.
I wasn't thinking too clearly while all of this was going on. I had actually completely forgot I was filming with the GoPro on my head which was the only reason we caught all of this. I ended up turning it off at some point not knowing how long it was going to take us to recover. Once all the gear was out of the boat it wasn't too difficult to flip the canoe with 3 of us working on it.
Great episode! I thought that canoe was a goner! How did you get it out without it being destroyed? Mistastin Lake looks awesome! 50% chance of being hit by a meteor again though...lol....better move out! Great video!
Great series. I think you misnamed it. You should have called it Bugs and Boats. I’ve been in some buggy areas but now I feel like I never made it past level 1.
Captivating series that I can't get enough of...kudos to the 4 of you to be confident enough to under take such a journey. How will you one-up this? No reason to try. Thank you.
Could the labradorite be a result of the impact crater? I found a half of a canoe once, and short while later the other half in a pile of debris on the bank of the river. No, not a good day. Great persevering getting around that
Hard to find a better endorsement of an Esquif than this video...
There are so many reasons I admire indigenous peoples, but their ability to occupy this land for thousands of years without bug nets has to be on top
Wow! How quickly things can turn. For better or worse. Love that you guys held your heads up even through the hardest times. 🤙
Thanks for watching! The trip is not actually over, we still got some fight in us - join us next Wednesday for an episode chocked full of emotion. As always, if you like our stuff please subscribe and spread the word!
@@bottomlands You are right, we're far from done - 4 more episodes coming at you.

What an expedition. When the canoe was folding and he said "we're done" I felt so gutted.. glad you got it out and were able to continue on!
Burning the bug suit and then showing Noah's temples loool! Couldn't have illustrated the importance of that better. So glad you had a backup net.
The crater... What a sight. A+ as always guys.

@@paddlehooked4687 LOL a desperate man would pay any price for that. Savvy Rob, savvy...

We all know you deserve millions of views of this trip, but the 30K watching this respect you even more.
Holy cow.. I was certain that boat was going to rip in two. Kudos Esquif.

Fantastic episode. I have to admit, I thought it was a done deal when that canoe wrapped. I'm so glad it wasn't. Great work, finally at Mistastin!!
I watched this series. YeR ago and just felt like I wanted to see it again. Its beautiful, lonely and real. I can’t help but feel sorry for Alex here. He has to have felt it was somehow his fault but of course it wasn’t. Can’t fight that River.

The music is perfect too!

Amazing journey. Spent 10yrs in Labrador and remember thinking I would never survive the mosquitos. That part I don't miss.
The entire series from top to bottom was incredible.... wish there was more, I could watch a hundred more, I don’t know how you can top it in your lifetime 👏👏👏👏
Thanks Scott, there are 4 more episodes!

I must have miss read it, I thought it said the end? Well that’s great news then😊

That pinned canoe...jeez..a lesson for all. Well documented! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Was definitely a high stress moment to say the least
Labradorite is considered a jewel. I have one polished stone necklace from a place in Bancroft years ago, and now I know someone who has a bathroom counter made of it. Gorgegous.
A lot of the 4000’ high peaks in the Adirondacks are loaded with Labradorite. I have found a lot of it in the rivers coming off the peaks.
As a jeweller, I’m hoping you collected some of the gemstone. A beautiful gem after they are polished.
Beauty that the canoe held up after that!
This series is so incredible, gorgeous lake.
My heart stopped just watching your canoe go under and bend. I can’t believe it survived. I felt so sorry for Noah, glad your feeling better. Alex, your accident with the bug net hat catching 🔥 could have been really bad. Dave your poor tooth. Chris hang in there.
you lads make the rest of adventure youtubers look like 10 ply! Animals!
I am glad that I knew about the wrap before this episode. You guys are such a strong team. Another beautiful edit! Thanks!
On the edge of my seat and holding my breath. That episode was incredible! So glad you are all okay. LOVED the music especially leading up to the canoe wrap.

Pro tip. You won’t die in Labrador from bug bites lol. Great episode guys.

Wow Boys... crazy Episode... Just glad you all came through in 1 piece and great to see Noah back on his feet... Save the Canoe!!!... Dennis
Incredible to see how amazingly strong T-Formex is, says a lot about these canoes. Awesome episode.
Every episode just gets better!
You guys have shared some amazing footage... Wow... Thanks for bringing us along...
Congrats to all of you !
Great episode guys. Pinning that canoe shows how quickly bad things can happen. Tough canoe to come through that. Loving the series.
Thats sad ..after all that work to get where you got . But glad yous could continue

Woah. Epic to be on an unnamed lake - shows just how remote she is :-D
Cant wait for more. You guys killed it on this episode, great work.
This whole series has been great. Really rekindled our interest in canoeing. Even after watching you wrap the canoe!. Would like to see how you did the canoe retrieval. Great teamwork!
Inspiring and beyond epic .

This series is so good
hard & epic! puts my work at home problems into much smaller perspective. Thanks guys for toughing it and showing us!
9:58 reminded me of a terrifying moment on the Madawaska-amazing editing and glad u pulled through!
What an incredible journey!..thanks for sharing..awesome!
Fantastic series.
Awesome filming of another great place in Canada to see.
Keep up the great work and thank you.
Great episode! I thought that canoe was a goner! How did you get it out without it being destroyed? Mistastin Lake looks awesome! 50% chance of being hit by a meteor again though...lol....better move out! Great video!
Wow hahaha thouggt that canoe snapped in half! Great vid
One of the gnarliest cool trip vids I seen. My deepest thanks! I’m inspired to try (easy) canoe tripping with my family this summer. Keep paddling!
Wow, Congratulations!!
Wow. Just glad everyone is ok and on the mends. Amazing trip so far🥰
Thanks for filming!
That certainly was the beat down of the trip I think. But you did come out on top🍻
Great series. I think you misnamed it. You should have called it Bugs and Boats. I’ve been in some buggy areas but now I feel like I never made it past level 1.
Congratulations Men for your amazing accomplishments!
AMAZING !!! that was a good one guys thanks for sharing !
