Thanks for sharing this! I'm installing a 10 foot board in my new shop to display hooks, and this will definitely be on it. Along with lots of John Switzer's projects, of course!
That is a nice use for a spike. I still haven't forged a spike into anything. This looks like just my kind of thing. No Grinding... LOL... Thanks for showing this project, love your style....
Thanks for watching! I have done a few non blade related spike projects, like a garden hoe, and a garden claw, both of which I have to re film forging. I get tired of grinding on stuff myself, sometimes I still break out the old coal forge that started all for me, it still has the hand crank blower, I go set it up and just make something out under a tree, no tech, no expensive tools, just a hammer, a piece of RR track and a piece of scrap.
great work. quick question... where do you get your spikes. my local salvage yard dosent have them? they wont except them to prevent people from stealing them from the rail lines. i like this stile of smithing and would like to try it but i am having trouble sourceing them any tips would be great.
You didn't miss me, I will be on next Wednesday March 18th, I will be the guy on the first anvil in the gray shirt. Yes I do make stuff for sale, you can find it on my ETSY page by typing in Mysticmountainforge in the search bar it has to all be together like that to show my shop. I really appreciate you watching!
Nicely done!

Great video, thanks for sharing. I’ve been looking for a way to hang an old block pulley and this would do the trick.

Why the music?
This is an old video from when I first started and thought I needed to play music throughout, I don't do this in my newer videos.
