This is the first video of yours that I appreciate because there’s second opinion here instead of just Mike’s “this is so good.....” which is refreshing
hi there. I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. I have Crohn's disease and haven't been able to eat for 4 & a half months and as you can imagine I got just a little hungry. your videos help me satisfied but I couldn't eat. also they informed me a lot about Chinese food which is awesome. anyways thanks again
My bf s so sick of this till a point that I have to make it in France! And I tried for the very first time to use the stick for my oven... well... then I got a slobbery human + cat following all along when I slicing the meat...
I found your channel yesterday and since I've been addicted to both of your channels!. Educational, Informative and Entertaining. Love these kind of videos!
i gotta tell you Mike, i love watching your channel, i feel so bad that i only found this channel recently from the huge Pho challenge, i am a foodie but because i live in the midwest, things like authentic Chinese food have evaded my grasp through my childhood, one day i will rectify that and taste authentic dishes from various cultures, not the americanized crap that you see in fast food outlets like Panda Express.
when my family had just moved from cali to co we didn't have many plates and bowls. So, my mother would serve rice in a big bowl and the other dishes too, and it's the sense of sharing and being close with each other that I feel made food taste better.
Pork Cakes (what they're called here in Ohio) are amazing. It's one of my favorite things at a small Asian cafe we visit on occasion. They also have the Xi'an cold noodle, hand-stretched noodle (red oil beef), sesame noodle, Biang Biang, etc. All kinds of yummy stuff there.
I'm Chinese Canadian but I've only had mostly Cantonese style dishes and for the longest time I did not know there was more to Chinese cuisine. Now I really wanna try these dishes and learn to cook them.
WHY ARE YOU NOT ON THE TRAVEL CHANNEL OR COOKING CHANNEL? You guys ROCK, You guys work well together and I think you guys could be more popular than anybody on those channels.
There's actually a genetic marker in some people that makes cilantro taste like soap. There's another- that I think is hereditary- that makes ginger taste like what pine trees smell like.
Liangpi is actually made from wheat starch, which is extracted from the flour when you make a dough with it, then massage the dough in water until the starch and protein separate. The gluey, starchy batter is made into the noodles and then the protein is used to make the little chewy gluten bits in the dish.
hello, i love the fact that you bring a person who has a virgin tongue & an honest opinions. personal tastes is a big thing in a person's identity as an individual. for example: i don't like ketchup in my food. thank you mazu, ETN...
Dude that soup looks so f#cking goooooooooooood. Stop....making me.....so hungry. I'm seriously making some soup now because of the awesomeness you just showed me.
I am not a NY native..but I did try that lamb burger thingy from their location in Manhattan last year. It was delicious. They have 4-5 location around NYC now. Next time I am there, I will definitely sit down and savor more of the dishes.
I'm definitely checking this place out next time I'm in NY! do they have english on the signs and do the employees speak english? I can speak mandarin but I can't read it....
+Angel Su There's a full restaurant right down the street across from the Flushing library. And they are English friendly. Used to be called Biang!, now under the Xi'an Famous Foods brand. and when you're done, check out the food court at the New World Mall on the other side of the LIRR tracks. Lots to choose from there too.
thats not double dipping thats just eating straight from the plate, double dipping is like if you have a bowl of chips and salsa you dip one take a bit and with that half eaten chip you dunk it back into the salsa, that is double dipping. if you're using the utensils that you eat with to scoop the food i don't really see much difference in basically eating straight out of plate as long as you're eating it all and and not eating something partially and then leaving it on that plate. also i used to not like the idea of eating straight out of the plate with the utensils you use to eat, but the more Chinese friends i made the more i was exposed to it and forced to deal with it
To be fair I think there's a time and place for Panda Express and places like it. As long as you recognize it's not authentic there's really no harm in enjoying it as long as the food is good, and if you're in a rush the convenience is nice. I think people make far too big a stink about how if you eat at a place like that you're somehow committing a food taboo and should be hung, when the reality is you're just eating food that comes from a different inspiration.
Ken Foo Somehow I get the feeling you're just jumping on the bandwagon. Panda Express tastes and is about as authentic as most Chinese places that serve typical American/Chinese hybrid food, which is pretty much every "Chinese" restaurant in America. If you think some old guy putting on an accent to sound real counts is accurate I can't help you. As the video itself proves, even the most authentic restaurants don't serve the genuine article, just as close as you can get here.
No offense meant, but when I am in the mood for "Chinese food" (which is often) I honestly don't give a damn how "authentic" it is, I just care if it tastes good or not.
Yea noone is alergic to gluten guys, including my aunt and my classmate's sister of course. They definitely don't have digestion problems after eating it at all.
You two are awesome. I get sooooo hungry watching your videos. I'm going to have to plan a special trip to New York. Nashville has few real Chinese restaurants that I know of. Keep up the good videos.
irishPEDOelf funny how that name is supposed to be a food allergy, but I have autoimmune disease, which is a rare kidney disease...hmm makes sense I guess
irishPEDOelf allergies are also known as allergic diseases because they are a hypersensitivity to something that affects your immune system in some way...this would include everything from hay fever, to rashes around the mouth after eating eggs or milk ( if allergic), Celiac's, and anaphylaxis. Also, when sending a child to school, if they have Celiac's, they are flagged with an allergy, just as anyone with another allergy would get flagged so that teachers & nurses know their body's will have some kind of immune response/allergic reaction.
I really, really like your videos.... Great work, I've learned many things. I love real Chinese food! Just difficult to find in Kingston, Ontario, Canada....
Your guys just freaking killed me! Here I am sitting in my office at noon FASTING IN RAMADAN and I see this video with Liang Pi. I could not even salivate being low on hydration. ;) Too good man! Kudos!
Fresh rice noodles are my absolute favourite noodles! Also gluten is used to make mock meats which is great for vegetarians and vegans! This video made me hungry! And yes I love cilantro but we call it coriander here in Australia.
Oh wow. I actually come from the "Other Side" of Main, up by Queens Blvd (moved out over a decade ago) and my folks always went to the Northern Blvd side for Asian food because it was real, not like take out places with beef n broccoli. There's a Korean restaurant not far from Golden-Market behind the library on Kissena called Woo Chon. Absolutely AMAZING food. It's been years since I've been back (family has passed away and most of my friends also moved out of the city) but I never had a bad meal there. I really need to get back, I live in Montana now and well ... yeah I need to get back get my fix :D
there's a place in flushing mall that had the most AMAZING "chinese hamburger" things ever, but I'm not sure if it's there anymore because flushing mall is closing down :(
... Just throwing in a random piece of knowledge about cilantro: some recent studies found out that whether you like cilantro or not depends on your *genes*. Like, people are born either with a taste or a literally innate hate for it. And I effing hate it. :( That said, you've earned yourself a new subscriber Mike! :D Keep up the good work!
K... so I heard a way to never "double dip". You use the fat end of the chopstick to pull the food to your plate and then use the "eating end" to pick it up and eat it.... Dan... use it =)
So, I watch you guys on all your channels and I've noticed that Dan has done a couple cooking bits (with tasty looking noms) and I would love it if you guys could do some shows on cooking traditional dishes. Living in Iowa has cut me off from all kinds of good things and I've had to learn how to make all the stuff I want to eat. And learning to make more traditional Chinese food is something I am all over! =3
Hi, You keep going on about the soup with bread that should be ripped not cut. Those are the squarest cut pieces of bread that I have seen in a long time. LOL
Hey, he did say in the video.. It's supposed to be hand 'cut' and like no1 will ever do it any other way.. But that's in China.. As he said 'here' in New York it seems to be machine cut .. (:
I can't stand cilantro. Tastes soapy to me, a really strong flavor that I can pick out of all the other flavors even if just a small amount is used and it bothers me so much.
Hope you read this. I love your posts and information. 1. I LOVE cilantro. But a few people says to them it taste like soap. They use parsley. Cilantro is an incredible flavor. Parsley is often used as only a garnish. I really feel for people who don’t like Cilantro. But it is amazing. Their loss. Point 2. I have Celiacs disease. I can’t eat glutens primarily from wheat. It is not a choice in diet. This has been with me since early childhood. Good news is rice noodles and any rice is fine. I know potatoes and corn are products from the America’s but those are also foods are also gluten free. Quinoa is from the America’s. Mikey, like you said most Asian people don’t have a lot of dairy available and hence are lactose intolerant, wheat didn’t grow in Scotland and Norway. Trust me, this isn’t a fad for me. I really can’t eat wheat/glutens without the very nasty results. So don’t bash that problem. Also, I love spicey foods. And I love your vids!
I travelled through china, and other parts of asia. You should find zhan shui mien, belt noodle in xian, and bahn bot loc la banana dumplings. yan rou po mou is like chicken and dumplings but chinese style. I love it.
I'm one of the people who taste cilantro as dish soap. I also can't taste stevia as sweet. For me, stevia is more bitter than a grapefruit. The gluten stuff goes by a number of names. In the US (and I think some parts of Europe) it's called "mock duck". In Japan, it's called "seitan". I've made it at home, it's easy to make. But because my partner doesn't like it, I almost never make it. And Bambi wasn't a lamb, he was a deer.
I'm looking forward to the lamb burger the most. I used to go to fuzhou xiaochi right around the corner. Their wonton, peanut butter noodles and rice cake (no seafood) are my favorite. I'm Shanghainese and kinda bored of soup dumplings and panseared dumplings. The corner 28 peking duck is nice and affordable too.
This was a lot of fun, and very informative. :) One little tip, though... you may want to change the thumbnail, as it may be affecting your view count. The thumbnail shows what looks like, at first glance, a meat sandwich with a giant green worm in it.
Walking down the stairs, "no indication that there's food down there" except for the sign on the wall that says "Food Court" lol.
Boyd McCollum, YES!!!! LOL
9:35 "And the laaaamb. C'mere, Bambi!"
Um. Bambi was a deer. Lamb is sheep.
I bet you're so fun at parties.
nairb2693 😂😂😂
Man, you should have your own TV show.
+Dodo M haha thanks :-)
***** Not a TV show O-o
***** Wow man, you sure know how to make an arguement....
***** I bet i have double your age, but that doesn't matter. You seem frustrated, angry, with some insecurities. Chill hombre, just chill.
+Strictly Dumpling when youre with your friend your channel should be called,"simply double dipping",,,lol
This is the first video of yours that I appreciate because there’s second opinion here instead of just Mike’s “this is so good.....” which is refreshing
Bambi wan not a Lamb, He was a deer aka. Venison.
The Chinese burger looks like sloppy joe but I tried it in China once and it was easily one of my favorite foods there
Vickie C it's the best!
+Strictly Dumpling, are you able to visit China a lot? And if so, can you film the food if you visit some time? :)
My bf s so sick of this till a point that I have to make it in France! And I tried for the very first time to use the stick for my oven... well... then I got a slobbery human + cat following all along when I slicing the meat...
Blaine Walton I'm Chinese and I can film for you Lol
You should totally do that!
I just found your channel and have been watching your videos for the last 30 minutes, You rock.
no indication that there's food?... how about that sign behind you that says FOOD COURT
It's so cool to see how far you guys have come with presenting and video quality, Well done!!
I watch your videos and drink water, because I'm on a diet. I don't think I've ever regretted it so much. I Am So Hungry! Love the vids.

It's funny how they say there's no way you would know food is down there, when there is a sign that says food court right by the door haha
Now I know what to order when I go to Xi'an this weekend, especially the Liang Pi. Love the videos.
when my family had just moved from cali to co we didn't have many plates and bowls. So, my mother would serve rice in a big bowl and the other dishes too, and it's the sense of sharing and being close with each other that I feel made food taste better.
Mike more food video I love it :3 we need more !
ik this is an old video but lmao Dan said "and the lamb, come here bambi"
Pork Cakes (what they're called here in Ohio) are amazing. It's one of my favorite things at a small Asian cafe we visit on occasion. They also have the Xi'an cold noodle, hand-stretched noodle (red oil beef), sesame noodle, Biang Biang, etc. All kinds of yummy stuff there.
3:16 It's official. Dan is white.

Kaedi Love I miss it too :-(
I'm Chinese Canadian but I've only had mostly Cantonese style dishes and for the longest time I did not know there was more to Chinese cuisine. Now I really wanna try these dishes and learn to cook them.
+LunaticReason Well, if you have a chance to go to Richmond, there are actually quite a lot of Chinese food from different regions.
despairedboy Actually I have been to Richmond but I've only try the Shanghainese places, i'll probably try others any recommendations?
Bambi isn't a lamb.
ryvrdrgn15 Lamp Chop is a lamb.
+Phoenixspin Lamb Chop is Lady Fingers. :D
YOU GUYS ARE SOO FUNNY AND GREAT LOVE TO SEE NEW FOODS !
I just want someone to look at me the way these guys look at food
WHY ARE YOU NOT ON THE TRAVEL CHANNEL OR COOKING CHANNEL? You guys ROCK, You guys work well together and I think you guys could be more popular than anybody on those channels.
There's actually a genetic marker in some people that makes cilantro taste like soap. There's another- that I think is hereditary- that makes ginger taste like what pine trees smell like.
natural selection means.. If they don't eat decent food the will mate with people who have no taste
To me, some mangoes taste like pine.
Uncooked Rosemary tastes like Christmas trees to me, but cooked with tomato sauce and chicken it's divine.
I love mangos, but I'm allergic to them. :((((((((((((((
Fantastic = the most real deal food show I have found on line.
He says there is no indication that there is food in there... the purple sign behind him says Food Court.
So hard to resist the temptations!! Seriously, I need to find it!!!☺
This made me hungry,I'm a new subscriber, love your vids very informative

Stop it guys! I am salivating watching this, b/c I am Chinese.
hello, i love the fact that you bring a person who has a virgin tongue & an honest opinions.
personal tastes is a big thing in a person's identity as an individual.
for example: i don't like ketchup in my food.
thank you mazu,
ETN...
Hold on....I thought the pictures of Chinese food on the menu is something to run from.
+cagedtigersteve But it still looked good.
+cagedtigersteve It only really applies to pictures of typical Westernized dishes, like Chicken&Broccoli or Boneless Spareribs.
Boneless spareribs!!! That's blasphemy! It's as bad as boneless chicken wings! Ick!
Dude that soup looks so f#cking goooooooooooood. Stop....making me.....so hungry. I'm seriously making some soup now because of the awesomeness you just showed me.
Can please put the name of the place and what city and state for your future videos. Please
Great video, would love to see more like this!
Poor folk in the background trying their hardest not to look awkward in a video they don't want to be in.
Watching this guy for 2 years now...dummy me...why not subscribe.I like all his stuff.
LOL "come here bambi"
I am not a NY native..but I did try that lamb burger thingy from their location in Manhattan last year. It was delicious. They have 4-5 location around NYC now. Next time I am there, I will definitely sit down and savor more of the dishes.
it only says food court with a arrow pointing down ahaahha
I went there this weekend and tried 凉皮. It is so yummy. Thank you so much for the recommendation! I would never found this place by myself.
CathyLovesRice no prob, glad you liked it :-)
I'm definitely checking this place out next time I'm in NY! do they have english on the signs and do the employees speak english? I can speak mandarin but I can't read it....

Cool, thanks Mike.

When you think Panda Express is athuentic Chinese food and you watch this.
What do they serve? Panda?
To be fair I think there's a time and place for Panda Express and places like it. As long as you recognize it's not authentic there's really no harm in enjoying it as long as the food is good, and if you're in a rush the convenience is nice. I think people make far too big a stink about how if you eat at a place like that you're somehow committing a food taboo and should be hung, when the reality is you're just eating food that comes from a different inspiration.

when i want to eat chinese food, I go to authentic places because panda IS NOT CHINESE
I love your videos Mike! Keep up the great work!
And no more American cheese in the scallion pancakes, lol. No bueno.
***** I donated to the channel. There should be a lowercase I in the top right corner that let's you do it.
***** I couldn't see any lowercase l.
Yea noone is alergic to gluten guys, including my aunt and my classmate's sister of course. They definitely don't have digestion problems after eating it at all.
I went to Xi'an, so beautiful at night. The noodles and dumplings there were great.
the cilantro thing is genetic, so it tastes different to them than it does to you.
You two are awesome. I get sooooo hungry watching your videos. I'm going to have to plan a special trip to New York. Nashville has few real Chinese restaurants that I know of. Keep up the good videos.
sorry to burst your bubble, but gluten allergies are for real...my 5 year old has Celiac's disease & she gets very physically ill if given any gluten.
But it's not an allergy, it's genetic autoimmune disorder.
irishPEDOelf funny how that name is supposed to be a food allergy, but I have autoimmune disease, which is a rare kidney disease...hmm makes sense I guess
irishPEDOelf allergies are also known as allergic diseases because they are a hypersensitivity to something that affects your immune system in some way...this would include everything from hay fever, to rashes around the mouth after eating eggs or milk ( if allergic), Celiac's, and anaphylaxis. Anita Martell I have Celiac Disease too.
Anita Martell I have it and I don't get the scrutiny
I really, really like your videos.... Great work, I've learned many things. I love real Chinese food! Just difficult to find in Kingston, Ontario, Canada....
celiacs disease is no joke man. that autoimmune disease is hell. or issues with corn in America is also hell.
Your guys just freaking killed me! Here I am sitting in my office at noon FASTING IN RAMADAN and I see this video with Liang Pi. I could not even salivate being low on hydration. ;) Too good man! Kudos!
China don't look like this anymore, This reminds of the street foods in 80s/90s
Fresh rice noodles are my absolute favourite noodles! Also gluten is used to make mock meats which is great for vegetarians and vegans! This video made me hungry! And yes I love cilantro but we call it coriander here in Australia.
and uhmm Dan...? Bambi's a deer, not sheep.... lol.
Alleyne Carlinda Wirawan yea, he dumb hehe

there's a place in flushing mall that had the most AMAZING "chinese hamburger" things ever, but I'm not sure if it's there anymore because flushing mall is closing down :(
April Xu tons of other places :-)
Love Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan doing food reviews. Good stuff guys.
I really wouldn't like being filmed while eating... (I mean the people in the "background"..) :/
Klara Stern who cares it is their right to do so and no one can make them stop unless the manager says stop or get out.
I'm from 天津, our 豆腐脑 is kind different. i also love 煎饼果子。your 肉夹馍 looks really good.

i've been doing that for YEEEEEAAAAAARSSS now, its a very nice technique :)
Were you eating with them? No? Then who cares

10:38 mike talks about not double dipping all day but he keeps double dipping 😂
" no indication that there is food down there" Except the sign at the entrance says " food court" Love your videos thank you.
Very good channel. Keep it up!
It says "Food Court" right behind Mike's big head. LOL
xian is cool i lived there for 5 months so i appreciate this video!!
Hell's horses!!! Liang Pi is my favorite Chinese dish. I haven't had it in years...I seriously miss it. I can't seem to find it in Chicago...
wow this is a cool video ,thx so much for showing it to all :)
Why is it so entertaining watching this guy eat and talk about food all day?
For those wondering, Flushing is in Queens, New York. Gotta go to this place the next time I get home from school!
Haha you guys are awesome!

Another great show my friend. One thing tho, your buddy eating the lamb says, " Come here Bambi ." That's deer/venison not lamb/sheep LOL!
