Six years ago, right before Father's day, my dad passed away. One thing I remember is every time we went to eat Chinese food he always asked me, what do the Chinese eat for breakfast? Thank you for this.
Probably cuz their employees are illegal immigrants. Chinese restaurants smuggle in people all the time as employees and pay them less than minimum wage.
@@MrLeemurman This might've been true 10 years ago... but those days are gone. The immigrant pool has dried up and out-of-state Chinese restaurants are closing left and right. Most Chinese restaurant's philosophy is volume over margin. It's harder to get an average person to splurge on one expensive item then to convenience 5 people to buy something they want to eat.
Your videos get me through really rough times. I'm so happy I stumbled upon your videos on 2020 with the pandemic going on. You distract me in a good way and fuelled my passion for food and cooking. And for that, Mikey Chen, I am forever grateful.
LoL right? I immediately thought... “Uhh...that would feed me for three days!” I always get Chinese take out when I know I’ll be in the mood to eat it for more than one day, because I’ve never finished an entire order at one time. Good thing I love Chinese food I guess. 🥰 🥟
I realized the reason I love mikes videos is because he has the same eating habits as I do. Mixing or dunking everything with everything else. I wanna try these places when lockdown ends

One of the downfalls of living in a small city surrounded by forest in Northern Québec,Canada...missing all the food from different cultures you were used to having access to and having the privilege of trying new food items ,because you grew up in a big city, near Toronto and Niagara Falls. Now instead of ordering out or going out for Haitian, Lebanese,Italian, so on and so on....you have to settle for Hamburgers, pizza , chicken and of course...(Since Québec is home of the...) poutine!! One can only eat so much poutine!! Just another reason as to why I enjoy Mikey's video's SOOOO MUCH!!!!! :)

The dopest thing I've always dug about Asian cuisine as a whole is that they have very affordable prices as well as awesome options outside the standard norm that the unfamiliar tend to stick too. Keep up the great work Mikey 💗
Thanks for posting! I love Bubble Tea! American's are so used to the watered down Chinese food that when we see authentic Chinese food, it's quite refreshing! I hope to visit NY when I see my family and will definitely visit these spots soon.
I love that you travel the world and that makes your channel so amazing. But I love you cover local eats (for New Yorkers like myself) just as much. I’ve been to these places and it’s kind of awesome Pros of New York you have a variety of friends, you’re GOING to have traditional meals of every place in the world.
Hello Mike...I’ve binge watched so many of your videos over the past few weeks & have become an avid follower. I’m even changing the way I cook! I was wondering if you’d be able to do a video explaining what the “gluten” is that‘s in some of the foods & perhaps how it’s made & cooked. I’m in Queensland Australia & haven’t as yet come across it in my somewhat limited travels. Thanks for all your wonderful reviews & videos...I look forward to them all! 😊
Look for a recipe for seitan. Seitan has a savory taste, probably closest to bland chicken or a portobello mushroom. Seitan has a mild flavor on its own but can take on many more flavors from different recipes.
The reason why we steam our food is because back then, the water was really dirty so we tried steaming it and it worked and stuff happened and more people started doing it. At least that’s what my dad told me tho.
Hi Mike, those steamed noodles look so fantastic. I used to travel to China three times a year when I worked in the wholesale garment business. I miss the food so much. Your videos are great. Thank you
Thank you for the tip Mike. The first thing I did after landing in NYC was to get to the foos court in flushing. The Chinese burger and as good as it looked when you ate it. Disappointingly- stalk 28 didn’t have the cold wheat noodles. They had the cold rice noodle instead. But the entire court had so much options.... I could come here every day!!!!!!!!!
Wow I’m impressed with the food in the mall; always finding the best food under the radar! . . Surprised you didn’t get a chinese donut with a congee soup! . . Can’t wait for more mikey!!! 😋
I live in LA and I have visited NYC many times. Whenever I'm in NYC, I always go to Flushing Chinatown in Queens and Midtown Manhattan Chinatown to get authentic Chinese food. The atmosphere in Flushing Chinatown(Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue) is very reminiscent of the 626 area(San Gabriel Valley/Alhambra/Rosemead) here in LA.
the fried dough things in the crepe are called “you tiao” which directly translates to oil strips. Chinese people eat this with chinese soy milk (also called “dou jiang “) and “dou fu nao”(tofu brains) for breakfast all the time. i think that might be why dipping the crepe(juan bing guo zi) tastes good.
I like that you can say, "I've tried them all", and mean it. You're an inspiration. I use to never eat out and now I'm trying every food stall and restaurant in my county and state. Cheers.
