Hey Zimri, I think you can still do polls in the "Community" part of your ytb channel. Might not be as practical as before but would be nice for those of us who don't have Instagram and still want to participate :)

@@zimrimayfield voting via the Instagram story is way to complex. Have to wait till the end of the story for the voting page and you have a couple of seconds to vote. It is way to hidden and it realy sucks..
@@zimrimayfield From what I've seen with a french news youtuber who used to use the poll tool and decided to use the community tab as an alternative, people seem to be using it fairly easily! (10k votes at least on each vote) Whereas not everyone has instagram, for instance and I think lots of people are just too "lazy" to go over there to vote... The target isn't the same, I believe.
@@Origine25 I'm guessing the Instagram voting is because of the sponsor? So while obviously it would be great and easy to vote on TH-cam, if it weren't for the sponsor (and Instagram polls) the competition might not exist!
Super close vote for me. I love the colors and concept from Ester but Brian’s is more marketable and easier to recognize on branding and shirts.
i started with Powerpoint, then moved to PictoChat on the Nintendo DS. And then someone taught me Photoshop. From there I taught myself Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Animate, and now I'm animating my thesis film for film school :D

I definitely started in Photoshop but moved over to Illustrator! Why is that how it works for so many people!?! 🤔😅
Bryan's logo looks cooler, but the color work on Eszter's design is way stronger.

Another alternative to polls, you could pin two comments (one for each person) and have us like the comment of whoever we want to ‘vote’ for
That would be problematic.... As poll only accepts one choice, that means one person can poll either to 1st candidate or the other.
But if we consider TH-cam comment.... Every person can comment on both the candidate that would be problematic.
Liking the comment would be best I think. Though I think you can only pin 1 comment and for one episode of YGR we would need about 8 options. You could do a comment chain under a pinned comment though, but I'm not sure if that wouldn't become cluttered.
Hmm those are both valid points, why did TH-cam take away polls anyway?

From the TH-cam Help Page:
"Poll cards will be discontinued across all channels after June 10, 2020. This feature was rarely used and we’re removing them to focus on other creator tools. You can still use comments to review feedback from viewers and eligible creators can use Community posts to engage with viewers."
In their defense, Zimri is actually the only TH-camr I know to have used this feature frequently. Maybe they'll come up with something new in the future. :)
You can't pin more than one comment on TH-cam, if you try to pin another it replaces the first one.
Thanks for explaining where exactly to vote too. Last time, I had to tap around the entire profile to figure out.

To everyone in the comments saying that Eszter’s doesn’t look like an esports logo... how?? It’s got the super typical 3-color palette, bold and dynamic shading, prominent type, layout and badge shape. Bryan’s is nice for sure but the type size is super impractical for an esports context, it’s lopsided, and it just doesn’t have the level of detail and dimension that so many esports logos have. What am I missing

I think its mainly about the way it can be portrayed, Bryans design is easier to place on tees and maybe a lot easier for people to recognise quickly as there fave team, as someone that watches a lot of sports from games like CSGO, Rainbow six siege and many more fps I can 100% see Bryans being and Esport logo in a world wide bracket, on the other hand, Esters seems more like the logo that would be associated with a lower team in regional brackets
It has too much space on the inside of the logo, "team" is spread out way too much, the silhouette isn't easily brandable in a way that you can sell esports specific t-shirts and stickers like you can with the other one, it is too big (or if you made it small, all the little details would be lost). A good esports/sports team logo is something that can be portrayed as an icon moreso than an artwork masterpiece.

Super fun challange :D good work on the participants. I liked a little of both, digged the simplicity of Bryan but it was hard to read the small text and Esters because it was clearer on the font. But all in all very good, hard pick!

I started with photoshop cuz it's pretty much the best foundation for me, not only that you can do a lot of stuffs on it but also you can learn other apps such illustrator and indesign or lightroom if you already know photoshop

I started with GIMP for making thumbnails when I was little. Then, I got to learn Photoshop. I still couldn't make logos. My high school graphics teacher used the Corel suite with Corel Draw being what we used for vector art and logos. I still can't use Illustrator.

Woah! Did you just say you started out in Flash? I thought I was the only one using Flash! For a while I have been using it and it felt like it was my comfort zone, but I forced myself to learn Illustrator and now everything just became better!
Sometimes I forget how fun design is until I watch Zimri’s videos!! It can be easy to get crazy stressed but at the end of the day it’s all fun stuff

I started in Photoshop having mostly a background in photography and retouching. I have taken all the extra time during quarantine to learn (finally) how to use illustrator via Lynda and TH-cam tutorials.

I started with MS Paint (if that counts lmao), then I used GIMP, then moved onto Photoshop. Still getting the hang of Illustrator-it is really hard to figure out!
Grew up with GIMP as a kid on a Linux PC so my workflow in it is _superfast_ & I prefer it for lighter projects (I'm more of a hobbyist anyways). I do however prefer Photoshop for 3D rendering, but never fully transitioned to the *bigboi workstations* kind of like how I *still* use FL Studio Ver. 11 😅
Overall Bryan's logo is cleaner and hits the mark with the esports aesthetic. Would've loved to see a variant with the text in a different position.

I personally started with Photoshop when I was 12 years old, then at 15 I learned Flash, and at 19 I began using Illustrator. However, I still go back to Photoshop every now and then😁

I started in Photoshop. I'm an engineer by day so I'm not a professional designer, more as a side hustle. So I haven't put the hours into illustrator. But I do use it to edit certain stuff that I put back into Photoshop. Maybe one day I'll "correct" my process, because almost none of the work I do really "requires" it to be raster.
But damn the tools in Illustrator. So different. I need to suck it up and learn!

I started with Photoshop to create pics on online mafia games, that is how I earned in-game currency. After that, I actually transitioned to photography and videography. I only know a little about Illustrator and Indesign.

I wish I had half the talent these designers have.
I started with Kids Pix and windows paint 😅, microsoft powerpoint and word ... then eventually actual design software from adobe: Photoshop (still basic with this), then illustrator (my fav) and InDesign. As an Architecture student we have to utilise many softwares in order to create our presentations and CAD/3d designs so the workflow is always extensive but it's worth it.
MS Paint > Photoshop > Illustrator. Also, Esther design was dope af!
At my high school here in the state’s in digital design we learned photoshop the first year, illustrator the second, and Indesign the third.
I start with illustrator, than I don’t know how to achieve an effect and do it in After Effects, because I’m most familiar with it.
I definitely started with Photoshop, still love it from my heart but I felt the need of vector art so I migrated to Illustrator, also sometimes I use Corel Draw, it's very common here in Brazil and I had some classes
Wow Flash! Ey I'm 40, so I admire that. I started with both illustrator and Photoshop. Love them both, need them both.
I started with Corel Draw, because that is the software they used in the graphic design' school to teach, and a little photoshop. Later, at my first work, I learn more about Photoshop, Illustrator and other softwares seeing my colleagues working. I did many courses of many softwares too.
I really really like Esther's, even though it doesn't really feel like an E-sport logo. Also I started from Photoshop.
Dude I also started with flash but I mostly used it for learning to code. Designwise I'm using inkscape these days and I f***ing love it! I only design stuff for my own needs though, so it's not what I do for a living.
I started with Freehand about 20 years ago... moved over to illustrator 18 years ago, but you should have a grasp of the full creative suite to be a rounded graphic designer, and most importantly use the right program for the right job! And in the video....the first design is a slam dunk

Eszter's logo is so great! I don't really see the concept with Bryan's. And I start with Illustrator.

I like Esther’s design way better, just my opinion... Brian’s isn’t really that interesting to look at to me...
I started with both AI and PS in architecture school and then after graduation I gravitated more towards AI as I got more into graphic design.
Started with Photoshop and starting to feel really comfortable with Illustrator but definitely more comfortable with PS
I first learned Premiere Pro, and then years later I learned Illustrator. I’m still holding off on Photoshop, it’s just really intimidating and every time I open it I have no idea what I’m doing.

I started with gravit designer (a free illustrator basically) and the moved to illustrator and am currently afraid of photoshop haha

I started with Photoshop and I've always thought that I don't need to larn illustrator, cause I can do everything that illustrator do in my photoshop. But eventually in one vacation I learned illustrator and it was one of the finest dicision of my life untill now.
The whole time I thought Bryans design was gonna be a knight holding a sword with those marks beside the head... but it kinda just ended, defs had potential to go a little further I reckon, but was still very cool.
Esthers had a bit too much detail for a logo imo though, despite a fantastic illustration. Very complex to print and embroid, but would allow for some interesting marketing. Thought the type could use some work too.
All in all though, pretty close fight

I like gradient socks logo more but the tone of the colors are too similar. They character gets pretty lost to me.
I never really took a time to study illustrator so it might be a dumb question, but about the first design, did she cut the video, I miss something or did she just do some witchery to do the shading in the character? Like, she was working on his feet and suddenly she zooms out and the character is fully shaded
Yes some of it was probably cut - I have the participants send me a 45 minute video max so the file size isn't so big - but the projects probably take a number of hours for the designers, so there's probably quite a few things cut out : )

Love Ezter's. Bryan's is good also, but not really identifying enough. It could be a logo for anything and when shrunk, would lose it's identity.
