Yes. I was worried if it would make any difference. But my old headset works great. I just bought a new helmet and headset. The new one has better (a little louder ) sound. Thanks for the question.
Thanks for your fast response! I appreciate it. I'm doing one right now and wasn't sure since there is no spot to put the added pin. I just tested the wire to be sure it's a ground. Thanks again!
Not modifying the harness with the supplied ground wire was not a good idea. The wire you pull out is a special dedicated negative side of the Control Area Network (CAN). It is not a true chassis ground. The ECM uses the CAN to send/receive signals to other devices on the bike. It might work fine for now but it can cause trouble later. If it puts noise on that special ground plane, It could mess up things in so many ways; leaving you to wonder WTH went wrong with the bike. On that note, I don’t understand why Harley felt the need to get the plugs involved (other than make it easy to remove and change the headset harness). If you cut the wire off the plug on the new headset harness and splice the ground wire in there, you get the same intended results.
I’ve not had any problems. But I’m going to take the Headset Harness out and install the WHIM. If I don’t like the WHIM, I’ll go back to this Headset Harness. And I refuse to cut any part of the Factory Wiring Harness. Thanks for watching. 🏍💨🏍💨
Thank you for posting it. We have the same mindset about tampering with the main harness. That's why I cut it on the headset side. I know what I'm doing and I 'still' couldn't get the plug apart without risking the chance of ruining it. I can't believe Harley expects anyone (even their own techs) to do it according to instructions. That ground wire should just be a pigtail on the headset harness to begin with. Good luck with the WHIM. I've heard nothing good about it.
@@matthewpedersen9351 I’ve also use the J&M Headsets. They have a cord that plugs into the headset. You can find used headsets on eBay to experiment with.
Did it work without the ground wire being attached that was provided? Good video

I’m now thinking about installing the WHIM because I can’t add a Passenger headset to hardwired.
💪🏾💪🏾💯💯 nice!
