It's "Completionist Gamer Logic." ManlyBadassHero does the same thing. It's not really necessary, and I might discourage it depending on the game and what's to be done. However, I can't say I didn't do it a bit myself either out of curiosity, or out of boredom for having done everything else in the game. Both times, I'd probably return to a different save. But I can say I *didn't* do this with Undertale. True Pacifist Run, one and done. Maybe I'd do that same run again, but that's it.
Boy those screen transitions take me back... it took the combined efforts of my family 10 years to beat The Uninvited back in the day. We just couldn't figure out how to stop the little dancing guy and get his key. My older sister was the one who eventually did it.

And I gather two things from it: The scariest thing in this is not the monsters or evil plants, but knowing that you're basically on your own and you have to fend for yourself without any help. And that damn slime monster is still a very slow eater.

I actually went through the pain of tracking down and getting PDFs of all the books that were available in my high school library and the ones I'd purchased once, and some of the more obscure, french-only ones were hard to track down. There needs to be more Macventure games, there's only so much replay value I can get out of Shadowgate, Uninvited, Deja-Vu 1&2 and Infested. Even counting the different versions.
What happens if you don't trigger the ship to self-destruct? Are you actually on a time limit after you trigger it? Music was very much in the style of Hiroyuki Masuno who did the music for the NES MacVenture games (Uninvited, Shadowgate, Deja Vu), very good attention to detail with everything in this game.

It also states that the crystal mines on the planet contain bonded diatomic lithium crystals, or, dilithium crystals, for use in the Federation class ship's energy core; again, more Star Trek references.
It's true to the games it's emulating in that way lol. In The Uninvited in particular there's like five bottles of unidentified liquid you can chug and die from.
Comments are probably full of "this reminds me of" game lists, but honestly, the only game that came to mind for me was Maniac Mansion...I think it's called. It was an old NES game that was hard to find. At least for me, and it had a lot of weird stuff in it, and funny ways to die. The soda drinking alien in the bedroom...? Throw something at it. Great stuff.

Like a blueprint for the Monkey Island games, its own direct sequel Day of the Tentacle, The Dig, Sam & Max, Full Throttle, etc. I remember it coming out on C64 and you could immediately tell it was pretty revolutionary. Probably the most influential adventure game ever.
Would it kill th3em to add line breaks? They wouldn't even need to do it by hand. Just write some code that checks if a line break exists yet for that line while the game is being played and, if not, it waits until the paragraph is fully displayed and then saves the line breaks.
Idk, seems pretty unrealistic. When you throw the carbon rock at the exterior door control and get sucked into space with the slime monster, the rock doesn't leave your inventory...

no game has more dumb ways to die than old Sierra games. Make one mistake 15 minutes in and you won't find out you can't finish the game until 5 hours in. Tons of reloading saves and starting all over again.

It's unknown what the player is gonna turn into, but yes, not taking antibiotics in time will result in death.
