The most disturbing part about this is that you're catching ocean fish in what is *clearly* a lake
It might be caused by the uncle's worship of the sea goddess Sedna. Seems there's more and more saltwater fish as the game progresses, possibly hinting that the lake is changing to something more supernatural.

Typically an Inuit shaman has to dive down into the ocean, stare down Sedna's shark guards and clean her hair. Afterwards, she brings bountiful catches. However, if he does a sloppy job, she causes storms and famine.

Breh...look at the circumstances.
The dude is all about fish....he almost never doesn't mention fish. He keeps you from his room even at the end of the game when he is next to his car and about to leave. Why? The lake monsters don't dare approach you when he's with you, why? He *acts* scared to get you to leave faster, why? To keep you from ever going into that room. To keep you from seeing what he does to those fish. Those cops from that one ending probably had the real horror play out in front of them when they entered that room.

I love the way the fish you catch become increasingly surreal. Also, the father in the story is a goddamn idiot. "Gee, I better rescue my daughter by killing the shit out of her!" Pretty sure I'd rather be married to a bird monster than dead in a lake. What a great dad.

27:23 This is the real horror of this game. You think a great white is bad? that little half-foot long Betta is the real monster. That thing could body every single other fish in that pond AND anything else unfortunate enough to get in. They're the Wolverine of the lake, the Iron Fist of the ocean, the Batman of the sea. Guy is lucky it was feeling generous and didn't put him six feet under right there and then when he caught it.

@@redandinata4568 He was sacrificed for bountiful fish. After insisting we continue to stay and fish despite things being obviously bad, and then sending us back into the house to get the keys, it's harder to feel like he wasn't lowkey trying to get us killed though.

@@redandinata4568 there is a part in the game right before the final fishing session where your friend asks you " want to go fishing one more time buddy"? and promps a yes or no. If you refuse it, then the friend gets upset and goes fishing alone at night. When the proceeding day arrives, and you walk to his door he starts to speak in broken sentences. When you leave the cabin, the ending ensues. When the friend drops you off at home, you try to walk to the side window to thank him and notice his eyes are of a dead fish. Sedna enchanted him...and he drives back to the cabin.
I really enjoyed the sound design in this one. Everything about the fishing just sounded so clean, clear, and calming, which made certain other parts better by their contrast.

I remember watching this the same week COVID international quarantined were beginning. Crazy to think that was 2 years ago. This game is so memorable to me cause of the jolly theme song, and gradual descent into the supernatural horror. A fantastically written game!

Not to mention ps1 had other horror games besides silent Hill and resident evil...but were mostly hidden gems...even shadow man at which was not a survival horror game and I still found it creepy
