As per IS456:2000, clause 26.4 Nominal cover is the design depth of concrete cover to all steel reinforcements including links.
So i thought that if it is beam, it is depth from bottom surface concrete to bottom face of main bar (including stirrups) meanwhile clear cover mean it is depth from bottom surface of concrete to bottom of face stirrups.
So pls do think of it

If we are to provide a nominal cover of 50 mm on the bottom or side of stirrups of 8mm then the cover block should be made with a dimension ( 50-8)= 42 mm. Pls correct me if I m wrong.
