Unrealistic representation of being a card shop owner. The distributor didnt mess up your order, deliver late, or lie about delivering product that was never recieved or signed for. I have a friend who owns 2 shops and hear these complaints often.
@@Kanzalone i actually kind of hope they add something like that. Both as a nod to the real struggles and as an interesting gameplay scenario of having to scramble to get product you should have already had and temporarily not having the money while you wait for a refund.

I recognize the cards/pack art from a mobile game called TCG Card Shop Tycoon Simulator. It's got all the same cards and stuff... That game being a mobile game, of course is full of microtransactions, so I'm looking forward to this game as I'm hoping they do away with that method and focus on making a good game. The mobile game was certainly fun but it gets to a point where it takes forever to achieve the next milestone, without spending a lot of real money. What's odd is that looking in the Play store there's actually two different games under two different companies using the same card art... There's the one I mentioned, which was published by Sia Ding Shen, and then a TCG Card Shop Tycoon 2 published by OPNeon Games... So this PC game isn't their first release. They actually have two different card game simulator games on mobile.
I remember in the mobile game there was a feedback form. I filled it saying the concept was great but the format of a mobile game with microtransaction didnt really fit. Im guessing they got that a lot since they ended up making a standalone pc game lol
I hope they add customers coming in to offer trades or sell you cards. Maybe implement a quality scale on the condition of the cards like cardboard kings. Pleass devs let us sit at the table n play the game lol 😂

I worked at a table top game / card shop. The owner worked full time as a transit bus driver and basically put his life savings into the company. He just did it because he enjoys it. For the first 10 years he didn’t make any money because he put it all back into the store.
I love that you ripped off your very first customer by 10c. 🤣 This game could be even more addicting than supermarket sim and has so much potential for further gameplay. I'm really liking this game so far. Thanks for showing it to us Kanz.🥰
Just a heads up, because you might not realise, you're charging customers almost double the market value in some instances for the individual cards. You're allowed to open packs individually because of the chance of getting rare cards to sell for more profit to the store. That Batrang at $40 is not worth it to customers when most places are probably selling it between $20-$25.
@@KingMagenta My thoughts exactly. It's effortless to look up market prices on the go - and why pay double the price when you can easily have it sent to your doorstep? A small markup is okay for a LGS, but the doubled price is just plain bad for business.
I worked at a board game/tcg store for 5 years! It was fun. The people and customers were great. It was awesome seeing people opening packs. Both young and older got super excited! I bought a lot of yugioh magic and pokemon cards. If they added board games that would be awesome! I miss that place!
Card shops are profitable, but it depends how you go about running the shop, and where it's located. Card shops will generall be gaming stores, not focused solely on one product type. RFeminds me of the days I ran a gaming store.
I recently pulled a 17d Mana Crypt and sold it to my LGS. That card has quite a few recent sales at around $900. But because I paid $0.49 for it, I sold it to them for $450 because I made a great amount of profit and I wanted them to make some money because I want them to stay around. I live in South Arkansas and card shops are few and far between. Walmart here doesn't even sell cards anymore, so they're my only local option basically. Support your LGS, lest they disappear.
TCG sim with different games and trends would be nice. Of course it means a ton of work for the developer to create so much content. But at least in my local game store at least 10 different games are played all throughout the week. I bet it's lot of work to organize and market for all those different events and figure out which tables to use and so on.
LOOKS AWESOME! They need to add more options in the start, like not just only booster packs but starting decks, deck boxes, sleeves, dices, etc. So you actually have to think on what you are doing. Orders should AT LEAST take one day before arriving (ofc on day one you start with what you ordered) and there should be different delivery services with different prices, that take more or less time. They dont need to implement a functional card game for u to play, hope they go full into the sim aspect, where you need to keep the store clean, stocked, pretty, etc. But looks great, i'm gonna keep a eye on it. I tried karboard kings, but is awful, has nothing to do with administrating your card shop.

Very interesting, I didn't know this was getting an actual PC release. I used to play the mobile version of this game. Would be cool to get more card games that you could sell packs for as well, but if this is anything like the mobile version it'll just be different rarities of card pack. Really hoping they change it up to either be different sets of the same game or different games in general though. Would make things much more robust, especially for such an "old" game from the mobile side.
Other ideas that could be sent to the devs: 1: selling food and snacks 2: other music like accessories 3: upgrade to a larger shop or larger space and hosting larger and more events. 4: raising prestige of the shop such as developing and investing the shops own reps for national, international competitions and local competitions. 5: n be able to register and compete in this eco,petitions as well for prizes and prize money or funds for the shops.

At first blush it feels like a combination of Kardboard Kings and the recent trend of "X market simulators" (did someone come up with a Unity asset tutorial for that style of game or something?), but as far as this style of game goes it does seem slightly more interesting with the whole tournaments mechanic to have people spend time in the store rather than just enter, buy stuff, and leave.
I started scrolling to another vid as soon as I saw it was similar to supermarket simulator. Then in the background I heard you open cards, and got tables. I got sucked right back. Now I'm looking forward to it. With some amount of automation with hiring employees, I wonder how viable it would be for these devs to just mash all their games together so you can pick/choose what type of shop you're running. A little bit of passive income from each shop. Maybe one day someone will develop a sales simulator empire haha
I would be nice if they add in workshop compatibility in the future and players can create their own unique cards for their own card packs or sets that you can use to sell
omg, we have a tcg card shop literally 2 min walk from my house and it is so like that shop, can't wait to play the full version of this. and yes i am sad enough to buy cards from them, even have a DATA card from star trek still in its see through wrapper never been opened. been collecting since the very first pokemon cards and magic the gathering came out. even played in a few tournaments. what a sad person i am. . . . .lol

Honestly, I hate the cash register asset pack all these recent retail sims have been using. If they got rid of the whole "now make change" thing, I'd be a lot happier with it. It's tedious when you have a line 10 customers deep and each one has cash.

The most unrealistic part of this simulator is that the customers all look like regular, normal people. Waaaaaayyy too little grease and obesity and way too much hygiene on the customer models
About the "new TCG Stores don't last long" thing: 2023 a tcg and tabletop shop opened in my small ass hometown in germany and within a year, the owner won the most trustworthy customers from the bigger town near by and all the smaller parts of the town. The Yu-Gi-Oh Community is the most loyal community there, they always show up to every locals. The magic Community is also pretty loyal in buying, but sometimes don't show up to all locals. On Friday Night Magic, we order pizza for everyone and play the whole evening! I love the Community there everyone's pretty open about playing new games and helping new players. The owner said he grew his shop way faster than he imagined and there won't be a dying date yet, because he made more money than he thought he would. I'm pretty happy that the store won't die very soon, because i met old and new friends there. In the middle of 2023 I started with Yu-Gi-Oh, then Magic in January 2024 and One Piece in August 2024. DAMN I LOVE THIS COZY PLACE SO MUCH, THEY'RE EVEN QUEERFRIENDLY!!!

I have to wonder if charging over market leads to slower traffic. I think most stores in real life mix it up where they have some things over market, some right at market, and some a little under.
20 market > 40 sale price is not going to sell, btw. Lol 25-28 probably would have been a better ask. Game looks fun though. Theres some features id love to have in it though.
20:14 the price per pack right now for Magic the Gathering play boosters is on average $5 but with premium sets your looking at $8-$10. This has actually been a recent controversy because WotC fired a bunch of artists and increased the price per pack by a little over $1 at the same time.
I enjoy the simulator way more than I thought I would. But its a lil unrealistic with how valuable the cards are in the packs. Having cards casually match or surpass the value of pack it came in by 5-10x is crazy. Most cards will be worth literal pennies. Plus the demand for cards isn't as high as it used to be. It'd also be nice if they had a box for crappy commons in the game lol. And maybe a way to explain how customers get dissatisfied with the store.

I've played the mobile version of it (basically), but it's full of micro transactions of course, so im stocked to see this as a paid pc game, because i had fun playing it on mobile
Are they going to let us play the card game though? Would be kind of weird if not. This is supermarket simulator with a small twist. I like it but if this is successful, we will see many more twists.
I asked the dev in the Steam forums when he was going to release the full version, and he told me November. Then he recently released an announcement saying he's going to release it early in September. He says it's to get players playing so he can work on bugs and stuff, but I feel like he's doing it to get money since it's hyped up. I hope he's not going to do the thing where he gets a bunch of money and then stops working on it at some point, or just half-asses the end game content.
Is it going to be full release or is it going to be Early Access. I think it will be Early Access and then worked on over time. That could mean full release November, Early Access September. 🤔
@@Kanzalone The point is, when I asked about full release, he didn't mention anything about September until the post. It's entirely possible all he needs is two months and everything is fine. But these days too many devs are abusing early access to get money easily and then abandoning the project when they've made enough. I want to believe this game is on the right path.
Here there, dev here. Originally wanted to do a November early access launch so that I can work on the game on a very very slow pace and to join steam next fest to get feedback before launching. But since the demo got so much feedback already, it doesn't make sense for me to launch it on November anymore. About the money, I don't mind it that much as the mobile version already gave me enough funding, I'm very grateful for all the support given by the players to make it possible for me to focus on pc game which is what I always wanted to do. For now, developing this game is just a fun way for me to spend my time as I get to interact with the players, get feedback and add their ideas into it. I really do hope to make it to the final roadmap item which is the playable tcg, but definitely not on November as it's way too big of a task. I give myself a year in early access until full release, and hopefully I can make it to the end goal :)
It bothered me so much that you didn’t notice the difference in editions because it says it right between the picture and stats. 1st edition, silver edition, or gold edition
This seems VERY similar to grocery store simulator. Is it by the same dev, or using the same base code for the game? Its not bad, its just weird seeing it being almost identical with a new skin. Personally, od rather play this version. But it does make me wonder if this will be abandoned if another skin of the same gsme gets more attention.
The degenerate part of me really wants to see pack searching methods added, both as the shop owner (+guarantee for your own pulls to be high value and remaining product out of same box to be lower value, but if caught more dissatisfied customers/distrust of store), and for random buyers to attempt to search packs (like...dude goes up to card packs and pulls out a little 0.01g scale)

D20 dice are commonly used when playing DnD. They are also used as counters when playing TCG battles. I have a lot of D20 in my house 😅

Releasing it in early access is not a real release. It's a gamble people take when buying it, as the steam is full of abandoned projects.

I've played the mobile version of it (basically), but it's full of micro transactions of course, so im stocked to see this as a paid pc game, because i had fun playing it on mobile

Are they going to let us play the card game though? Would be kind of weird if not. This is supermarket simulator with a small twist. I like it but if this is successful, we will see many more twists.
Single card prices almost certainly go up baised on how many games are played at your table
I asked the dev in the Steam forums when he was going to release the full version, and he told me November. Then he recently released an announcement saying he's going to release it early in September. He says it's to get players playing so he can work on bugs and stuff, but I feel like he's doing it to get money since it's hyped up. I hope he's not going to do the thing where he gets a bunch of money and then stops working on it at some point, or just half-asses the end game content.
Is it going to be full release or is it going to be Early Access. I think it will be Early Access and then worked on over time. That could mean full release November, Early Access September. 🤔
@@Kanzalone The point is, when I asked about full release, he didn't mention anything about September until the post. It's entirely possible all he needs is two months and everything is fine. But these days too many devs are abusing early access to get money easily and then abandoning the project when they've made enough. I want to believe this game is on the right path.

Here there, dev here. Originally wanted to do a November early access launch so that I can work on the game on a very very slow pace and to join steam next fest to get feedback before launching. But since the demo got so much feedback already, it doesn't make sense for me to launch it on November anymore. About the money, I don't mind it that much as the mobile version already gave me enough funding, I'm very grateful for all the support given by the players to make it possible for me to focus on pc game which is what I always wanted to do. For now, developing this game is just a fun way for me to spend my time as I get to interact with the players, get feedback and add their ideas into it. I really do hope to make it to the final roadmap item which is the playable tcg, but definitely not on November as it's way too big of a task. I give myself a year in early access until full release, and hopefully I can make it to the end goal :)

I think there is a mobile app based off of this and if it's the same thing, i'll be glad for a desktop actual sim.

This seems VERY similar to grocery store simulator. Is it by the same dev, or using the same base code for the game? Its not bad, its just weird seeing it being almost identical with a new skin.
Personally, od rather play this version. But it does make me wonder if this will be abandoned if another skin of the same gsme gets more attention.

The degenerate part of me really wants to see pack searching methods added, both as the shop owner (+guarantee for your own pulls to be high value and remaining product out of same box to be lower value, but if caught more dissatisfied customers/distrust of store), and for random buyers to attempt to search packs (like...dude goes up to card packs and pulls out a little 0.01g scale)

as a card shop owner, i can say that it is definitely hard not to open everything.
It must be annoying when you’ve been holding back on a pack and then a customer opens it and gets some quality cards
