I wonder if the Metcal tweezers would get more use if we had more useful cartridges to choose. I enviously saw mend-it-mark with his tweezers remove smd electrolytic caps without melting all the plastic.
Glad to see useful accessories. Hopefully more are coming. I'd like to see Aixun 2-3 channel model for T-12 tips and accessories which uses a linear power supply.
Hi. There is new sequre ht140 tweezers on the market now. They are portable with type-c/dc connector, c120 (and some c210) tips, reasonable price and looks like they have proper 4 screws setup to adjust both tip-heads. Would be great to see review on it.
Hey, i want a specific soldering station and accessories to be tested by you. Can i place an order to have it arrive at your place and you send it afterwards to me (in Germany)? I would love that, because this Station is currently not delivered to Germany directly. Both of us would benefit...
II was wondering about those tweezers, thanks for the review. What energy monitor do you use that shows such a nice graph on the PC? I'm looking for something similar, but preferably with faster refresh rate.
@@SlaVoy it's a Hameg HM8115. A purchase from TopLoser on the EEVBlog forums about 10 years ago. I wrote some python to get the graphing using SCPI commands
Nah, looks like it can’t grab LEDs. A shim is needed at the back of the cartridge to bodge the length slightly. If the tweezers were more simple, designed so only one tip moved, and you could bodge the length… then with the right tips it might actually be usable.
@3:48 - you ought to mean "lateral movement" :) Edit - and "axial" too. @8:55 - what's the nominal of the resistor? I am somewhat can't read colours of that resistor bands?
Fully agree, it's much more convenient and accurate way to desolder. Two T210 irons are able to desolder rather massive parts. Tweezers are waste of money for the home lab
I'd imagine these tips will work with any whatever-T12 station like a KSGER (or whatever it is). I look at this as I'll need to replace those tweezer tips cuz they're not going to do anything after 20-30min of use if they ever work at all. What you get in your box is never what we get. I say this having bought a couple items on your recondition. :(
I have the same system but the KSGER has a different connection I believe it is certainly so here. But the KSGER system is an old unit 2-3 years older. And the way things change depending on who manufactures it. But the Handskit tweezers have a 5 pin connector and my KSGER system has 4 pins. The cartridge systems work between them no problem. The thing about the tweezers is they are not checking temperature on both sides but only one cartridge is tested. The other thing I found is the cartridge system is very loose. They turn on a little pressure. This is just what I have found.
@@barrymayson2492 Hi Sir, thank you so much for clarification! It is a shame that the tweezers are not compatible. My ksger works really really well. It would be a nice addition to it
The usual quality control problem with a percentage of the lower end price range products. It is a shame given as it harms the Chinese manufacturers who do produce quality products.
I think anyone that wants to try soldering tweezers should try nano style like JBC AN115 and use a foot switch. Nano style heats up and cools down very rapidly using foot switch to control heat on/off, and can move components around with high dexterity. I’ve also seen Hakko tweezers that can switch between normally open & normally closed mode. The idea is they can be used in place of regular tweezers. I believe that’s how rework tweezers are ‘supposed’ to work. I don’t actually have tweezers, BTW, but I’ve looked into it.
i got the cheaper model for quite a while , i dont like the tweezers.. way too bulky and hard to get heat on parts with those massive tips. a handpiece that accepts two t12 tips would be nice.
So the chinese send in a unit for evaluation that has a crack in the hand piece to wire connection and a display that's slapped in at an angle. One could wonder what junk they send to their customers.
Why do they spend so much effort in making a badly earthed product, when they could for a little more effort make it safe. How much effort does it take to read and understand the LVD which I think is also in affect in Chinese law. If i remember they just use the CE marking directive standards as a guide for there own.
Yeah it's sad... Because this product could have been fantastic if they had spend slightly more effort... If you already put the effort in the rest, why not do that very little bit extra to make it a great product :/

You lucky man. (Unrelated to the soldering iron)
Do you offer paid consulting?
Always nice to know what to avoid. Thanks for the honest review :-).
Ordered those. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR A THOROUGH REVIEWS! Really.
LOL! You described it as "dodgy" and "crude" while struggling to appear unperturbed.
The inrush thermistors are NTC. They start high resistance and end up low after current passes through.

Could you take a look at the Yihua 982? Possibly the cheapest JBC clone available

Hi, does the hot tweezer handle work with the KSGER station?
Unrelated to this model, the T100 works just fine. Well suited for small hands.
It seems to struggle with larger copper fills like 14:44.

There is a yihua JBC tweezer clone but its not cheap, not really sure its worth it. They have their own connector and handpiece but use the same tips.
