Northern Mockingbirds are the only resident mockingbirds in North America. They are spread throughout the US and have adapted to live in residential areas. Not only are they expert mimics, they are also very aggressive in protecting their territory.
Northern Mockingbirds are known to attack other birds, animals as well as humans! Mockingbirds also fight with other mockingbirds who try to invade it's territory. In such a case, mockingbirds with same sexes usually fight with each other. So a male mockingbird usually fights with another male mockingbird and if there is a female mockingbird invading, then it is the turn of the resident female mockingbird to defend it's territory.
