It didn't do anything in my case, I still get 40-60 fps in br. (before someone says that my laptop is low end, I have a gtx970m and i7 6700hq. It's a 7 year old laptop, but it was a high end one at the time and it should be able to run fortnite at least at 100 - 150 fps)

try to update your drivers or it could be your laptops charger thats wrong, when i played on my laptop i saw that i got 70 fps and it was plugged in and after fixing and adjusting it the fps increased back to 200, so maybe your charger is the problem.
ngl idk why but on my laptop with a rtx 3050 and a i5 14400H, i used the optimized gameinisettings thing and i was getting around 220-250 in creative and without it i was easily getting 300+ so me pesonally i would recommened not to use it unless you are on a REALLY low end system
