I've lived in six of the states you described, have traveled to most of the others also, and think you are spot-on. You explained your opinions very well, did not exaggerate, and backed up your comments with actual experiences. I didn't read the rest of the comments here but I will, and I'm going to hunt down the other Top Ten list someone else posted. Nice job, Jose.

The US is very exhausting. I want to move near a warm climate. I dont want to live in danger because of my skin color. Its a lot to think about. I live in Omaha Ne and it is very racist but I dont feel unsafe physically. It is just mentally pressing and racist things have happened.

I live in nyc and im white. People are racist to me too because of my skin color, also a lot of people hate whites including white people themselves, but for the most part many people really don’t care. So what i’m trying to say is you’ll experience hate anywhere, if it isn’t skin color, it’s status, whether you make money or not, where you live. Theres always a reason for hate. I don’t know if that will help you, but i hope it can give you some insight on how people can be, please don’t be afraid, do your thing and people will appreciate you for you, not your skin color

@@SL-ji7he I guess that because of liberalism. I use to live in Texas Dallas and it was heavily hispanic. I did not feel much racism for being fair skinned white. The DFW area is more anti black racism and lighter you where not matter the race the better. The only time I saw racism in DFW was form a hispanic. He never gave black people the benefit of the doubt.

I am so glad you put this out. Unfortuately Briggs too often has a habit of saying there are a lot of good people in these states, and I want to respond there are a lot of good people in all states. He frequently identifies the worst crime areas as political instead of the impact of racism, since most of these areas are predominately black or minority cities. Bravo!

I purposely fill my tank at the end of North Carolina just so I dont have to stop in South Carolina driving down to Florida from Jersey. Stop at end of Georgia back up. I feel strange when I have to stop in South Carolina which I have done a few times, my instincts say something is wrong.

Lol one of the states with the highest proportion of black people is horribly racist and a hell scape for them huh? People who don’t live in South Carolina and have never actually mingled with the different types of people that live in the state simply are making things up. Jersey is 100% far more racist than SC, where 26% of the population is black.

Thanks for your most honest Perspective. A few TH-camrs DONT touch the truth but merely dance around it. I feel that you are helping a lot of ppl by putting the truth out there. Born and raised in Alabama.. I have not experienced racism but prejudice ways from ppl that were subtle.. kinda like they do it just enough to show you but don’t come out and say it. For example your supervisor on the job, the doctors office, that waiter, etc etc.. and I had some great experiences in Alabama as well but overall , Alabama has come a long way but still needs improvement ‼️I left and I’m here in DC. But it is better in North Alabama than South Alabama and West Alabama.. I couldn’t stand the egg shells blacks walked on and tiptoed around how a job treated them. I couldn’t stand the passive aggressive Caucasians in Supervisor roles or even just working in the rural area communities was a drag. I’m a healthcare worker and I have seen and heard it all. Thank you tho.. great video great job

I'd say one part on the west coast the person creating this video may've overlooked as racist, is anywhere in the 'Jefferson' border area of California and Oregon. By Jefferson, I am talking abiut the occasional past suggested idea for far northern California and far southern Oregon counties to break off of CA and OR, and create their own state.
I've also heard stories about parts of Idaho being pretty racist, as well. Such as northern Idaho, and other parts. I wouldn't be surprised if parts of rural Wyoming and Montana still had racist issues, as well.
Like the person creating this video said, it's hard to exactly 100% measure how much racism occurs in each state.

There are more Indian people than other races in Canada and it’s not diversity when you have an inordinate amount of ethnic group overpopulating other races disproportionately, and their international students are known to take food from Canadian food banks meant for Canada.

That is not a recipe for racial tolerance . Ohio people are 75 pct homegrown and Ohio is one of the least tolerant states based on hate groups and hate crimes . Ohio is traditionally one of the least desierable states in America to live and work in . One of the worst states for African Americans in terms of unemployent ,home ownership and median income which Ohio across racial lines is bad for everybody , Ohio is a cut copy and paste of Indiana. You also are mistaken about "Big cities not having as much racism". Those places are often a hot bed of racism.
There are much more accurate lists compiled and actually based on factual information, not just personal opinion, from every state in this nation. Only Louisiana in your list makes the most accurate top 10 list I've ever seen. The following states make most of the states you mentioned look like havens for minorities rather than racist filled states.
    10 - Michigan
    9- Nebraska

    6- Illinois

Your ranking on Indiana is accurate based on my experience. I was completely caught off guard and couldn't understand what I was seeing when I saw that black and white people were segregated at the hotel pool. This was back in 2013, but I saw black and white people were on the opposite sides of the pool, as in hanging out in the same area but not with each other. As a person much more familiar with the west coast-
A few summers ago, my boyfriend at the time (RIP, RAP) and I took a couple road trips. No real set plans, we went to Yellowstone and spent a few nights there. I believe we stopped in Jacksonhole, Wyoming. Then we went camping in Montana and Spokane, Washington…
We were all over the place. Our drive took us through a lot of different states, and I definitely felt discomfort in this smaller town in Idaho. It seemed to be more of a local watering hole-where we stopped-and we stuck out like a sore thumb. Nothing but unwelcoming glances. We decided to just use the restroom and gtfo.
The next place we stopped in Idaho, I don’t think she wanted to be nice (older lady and the gas station register) but I thought I’d try killing with kindness. I was more polite than any other “person” in the building. Guy in front of me was a donkey-hat so it was really a breeze. Of course, being of color, she was still nicer to the big dopey man ahead of me. The majority of the other places we visited were wonderful.
It is definitely something that should be investigated before traveling & something that should not at all be taken lightly.

I actually enjoyed South Carolina when I went there. Sadly wasn't there long enough to get any strong idea of what things were like. I didn't have any issues down south, although I am white so that might have been part of it. Only place where I really felt uncomfortable among the black community was when I drove through Memphis. Went through the run down area and saw things from people stopping their conversations to collectively stare at me, to some girl flicking me off.
I also can't believe Illinois is not on here. People must be in denial. A bunch of people I know would just casually say the N word when I'd come over to their house. Chicago is also the only place where I feel as uncomfortable as I did in Memphis.
The whole country is honestly fucked and these rankings aren't clear cut. Thankfully I have family back in Europe to help out if I just plain get sick of dealing with everything here.

For Illinois, I'd say it depends where you are in the state. Certain parts are more accepting(Chicago area, near any of its midsized cities, nearer St. Louis), while in smaller towns in eastern and southern IL you'd have higher odds of running into racism. Certain parts of the Chicago area(both city and suburbs) have an undercurrent of racism, but I'd say most parts of it are accepting.

I will throw this last one in--PA didn't used to be racist @all. Underground Railroad mean anything to anyone? But since the '70's & NAFTA(=no jobs) the brain-drain on the population of rural towns has changed the dynamic entirely. People that could get work elsewhere-left. The majority of us kids growing up in the aftermath-our families could not send us to school-most joined the military. Those who stayed behind--were not usually church choir members...There's a reason PA went from one of the highest public education states (top 10) to-it may as well be Mississippi (no offense to Miss.-just talking about scores on tests). So-that said-PA now does not reflect it's centuries of history of treating ALL people fair (Calisle College that accepted First Nations students since the 1700's+)

Here in Brazil it is not much different. Yes, Brazilians are racist and retrograde. The majority of the population is made up of good people. But a large portion of the population and some states are racist towards blacks, gays, foreigners. Today there is a growing, well-articulated and funded anonymous group that is pitting women against men, straight against gay, gay against straight, men against women, black against white, and both against mestizos. In some cities, foreigners are treated normally as they should be, but in others such as Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, for example, racism and malandragem reign supreme. All you have to do is read the news from Brazil. It's very beautiful here, there are amazing people, but the violence is very similar to Mexico. I don't recommend that any foreigner come here alone and without researching a lot about the places and rules.
