    You are precious! Is that your real mustache? But I digress….My ancestors were from the British Isles and settled in the Appalachian Mountains of the Eastern United States. They had all kinds of scary witch legends, but to my knowledge no one was tortured or executed for their beliefs, nor for practicing medicine. I mean, if you’re in labor, you need a midwife and the Wise Woman was there to help.

    But all this was back in the 18th and 19th centuries. Most of my ancestors moved south and west and built sensible lives. The only legend I heard as s child was “don’t let the Gypsies get you”. I never saw any Gypsies and I now realize that was a racial slur and it makes me sad.
    This Black Annie legend is terrifying. Why are we just hearing about it now? I’m scared of this legend because of the torture and heinous actions. Sometimes if enough people hear about this, a critical mass occurs and you know what that means,
